  • @CentaurusRelax314
    @CentaurusRelax314 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's awesome. Whenever i'm messing around with drum machine sims, my patterns always seem like they're way too dense and overly complicated. Then i (re-)hear something like this, and i'm reminded how it still all works within the context of a song. Crazy, how much cowbell is in this. I usually think of it as a ridiculous tone for heavy use, but BOOM-there it is.

    • @fakshen1973
      @fakshen1973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can have at max two featured parts to your percussion without making it feel overly busy. For this it's the cowbell and the clap with everything else just being plainly vanilla

    Dude, this channel is great! I JUST purchased my very own Linndrum. I suppose the hardest song to program is Pat Benatar's "Love is a Battlefield" due to the fact it was a programming mistake by Neil (her hubby and partner in music). He said he had a 8 beat bar pattern that he accidently turned into a 6 beat bar (something like that). I'd love to see you take a shot at that song as well as Don Henley's "Boys of Summer". I have successfully created his "Sunset Grill" but you seem to be a Linndrum Guru and THE guy that could figure out these two songs. Hope to see a video on it soon.

  • @punkgift

    I remember that on SAW records sleeves the drums were always credited to "A Linn". There was also a documentary in the United Kingdom last year where they were interviewed and they said they had a sampler, but I can't remember if it was a CMI Fairlight or a Synclavier. They said that it broke down during a crucial all night session though. The programme is called Trailblazers of 80s Pop and it was on Sky Arts.

    Very good tutorial. I very much enjoy my LinnDrum and will certainly be programming this pattern, albeit in step mode, which requires the latest (last) firmware for those reading this who don't know.
    Two things:
    1) After programming the bass (4-on-the-floor), and even after the pattern was complete, why didn't you mute the click track?
    2) Another request for "Boys of Summer" pattern tutorial!! I have tried to do it, but it's very difficult. I know it changes several times, so I know there would have to be at least two patterns chained together, but it's such a classic LinnDrum pattern I'm sure other fans would love to have you do it if you're up to it!
    Thanks!
    I enjoy all of your videos!
