  • "I'm much more creative than I ever was when I was manic, or before bipolar, to the point where I can honestly say, if I was offered a cure, I wouldn't take it, because I do consider it that much of a gift." Filmmaker Paul Dalio, director of Touched with Fire, explains how Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison helped him get through the darkest days of his struggle with Bipolar disorder -- and how he's more creative now than ever before. Was on Bipolar medication for 30 years .decided to stop taking when at age 50 because many times the Doctors were concerned of my liver breaking down the medication .I decided to go off lithium myself without Doctors advice slowly over 3 months. I'm now 3 years without lithium, and feel much better.Prior to going off lithium I learned of the triggers that made me manic or depressed and worked on ways to reduce those imoacts in my life. I dont allow myself to get stressed,at times I do but have trained myself to relax and defuse the stressful feelings that in the past even on lithium at that time was differcult to control.Every body has stress but one must work thru this and acknowledge what triggers that stress and what can desolve that stress which can be very harmful to bipolar sufferers.

      David Broughton diagnosed like a week ago and there's no possible way I will poison my body with drugs. Ever. Like you I know what triggers me. I just try to avoid it at all cost. I just have to remind myself that I'm okay!

      I've seen my friends get married, buy houses, and have kids. I have thoughts of killing myself almost every month and I can't even take care of myself. I agree. Fuck bipolar disorder.

    More creative or more productive? I can flail around all day Robin Williams like but I need meds to reign me in and write it down.

      Sometimes its required. Its about finding the right med or right other care. Im day um...6 into new med and I do not feel well at all. I trust my doctor thou and we actually talk about my body rather than previous docs talking at me.

    • @chris-Ribble-Roots
      @chris-Ribble-Roots 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My problem is, I trust the doctors for the most part but I don't trust the companies who make the meds. At the end of the day they just want business and profit. Doctors aren't chemists, they're doctors...
