The Turret is one of the most famous symbols of San Diego and yet there are no behind the scenes videos on what's now there. Is there any information on this? I was there recently and sadly disappointed at some of the most recent upgrades. Why the insufferable screens flanking the front desk in the lobby now? People are coming to this hotel to experience something out of time, not the same stuff they'll see at a downtown modern hotel. Everything that I love about this hotel is what is faithful to the experience of that era.
🥰 My Happy Place 🥰 We spend time there every Summer and while I look forward to the coming changes, have to wonder if rates will drop some during the 3 year construction. We spent our Honeymoon there in 2000 while some renovations were going on that we were not told about and all the construction noise was horrible to say the least. Construction had already begun in September of 2018 in the South parking lot when I spent time in a Shores condo across the street and it did not make for a peaceful relaxing stay. I can’t imagine people paying what it usually costs to stay in the Del under those unpleasant circumstances. I pray all goes well and “safe” with the renovations.
Love the Del!
