Bro this is legit hands down the best video that gave more information than people talking quickly and concisely. I've only seen this one video but its an instant subscribe.
Great video. Obviously the RR is the better bike in pretty much every way... but the Ninja 400 will remain a better bike for city riding and commuting. That's just the torquey nature of the p-twin. My MT07 was the same way, I used to drop older R6s at the lights, only to have them blow by once they got the revs up into the real power.
Outstanding editing and graphics. I agree with the comment below. If you are commuting around town the 400 is probably the best choice. But man, that little inline 4 is so nice. I did put a deposit down on the 4RR so I will be commuting around with it to see if it's manageable.
I had an OG zxr400rr as standard. 135mph mini rocket. About the same speed as my brothers sv650 with aftermarket exhaust. In a straight line anyway. On the bends the zxr400rr kicked it's butt. Though I did love his sv650 for the engine. Its a peach and so much easier to ride in terms not having to keep the revs up for the power. Depends how you like your ride. A screamer that you have to keep in the powerband or a more torque focused bike. Any 600rr will kick it's butt.
this is a really good video but i think you should also include seat height and width. while a 400, the zx4r from the specs seem to be bigger than a 600. i will need to sit on it as i cant comfortably ride a 600.
Mind you the biggest difference for people in the EU will be the Ninja 400 can be driven with an A2 licence, whereas the ZX-4RR will require a full A licence, (despite both being 400cc) due to the power-to-weight ratio and the 77 HP
Yes, but you can restrict a bycicle with max 95hp to an A2 bycicle which will restrict it to ~46hp (from 70kw to 35 kw) so the Zx4RR CAN be driven but just restricted if you have an A2 license.
Awesome comparison, wonderful video, This like , I was inside of a Motorbike Racing Game, Detailing Both bikes side by side, Very detailed , clear and neat comparison. Well Done
would still go with the 400 because yes... im not going to compete, it has good power ratio for a beginner bike its fast in the city, more reliable (and the cost to repair is much less) its WAY more cheaper. for me personally i like to not bother others while enjoying myself on the bike so exhaust is perfect sound and chassis its almost identical :)
Ninja 400: great “sport looking” bike to learn on and have a blast riding. Also way less expensive to buy and insure than a big sport bike. Easy and very manageable power delivery for new riders. Can do track days but has very comfortable riding position for a daily commuter in town and some highway use. Ninja ZX4RR: great entry level “Sport Bike” to learn on. Same engine characteristics as large sport bikes but way more forgiving for a new rider not used to the big power up top in the rev range and has similar seating position to a big sport bike. But more comfortable for commuting and daily riding. A blast to ride anywhere especially on track. Plenty of weight and horsepower for comfortable and safe highway riding. I think Kawasaki hit it out of the park with this entry level proper sports bike!!! Let’s see if they follow it up with a proper Z400RS with this in-line 4 engine!!!!!
My second bike was an FZR400 with a 14k redline. I learned a lot on that bike. Low end torque is a new riders nightmare. So riding below the power band gives you time to get a feel for the bike before you unleash the beast on the top end. So if it was me I'd spend the money on the ZX. My 14 is just an all around beast, but I know how to tame her. LOL
So fucking true. I love lay on the gas tank, behind windscreen, while revving past 15k, you can hear the melody from induction/ram air... I'm in love with my 03 zx6r... Although i can afford a newer, liter bike, i just don't want 😂
If you are looking for a beginner track bike and don’t care about value per dollar the zx4r would be a great bike. But if you dont have so much money where value is a concern or you plan on riding your bike on the street the ninja 400 is still the king
The Ninja 400 doesn't have the wow factor of the ZX4, but it costs far less to buy, own, insure, and maintain, is far quicker from stoplight to stoplight, and even makes a great track day tool with some suspension tweaks. Have your Ninja 400's PCM flashed, and on basically everything but top speed, you'll beat a ZX4's ass like a drum, and still have plenty of cash in your pocket, and a back and a pair of legs that will thank you after a long day in the saddle. You just won't sound as good doing it. Nothing beats the sound of an inline 4, or a 270 degree twin. The Ninja 400 is a 180 degree twin, and it's gonna sound like one, no matter what exhaust can you put on it. Take it or leave it.
During it's exhaust sounds testing or comparing... ZX 4RR should have to be CLASSIC KAWASAKI " GREEN " one .... !!!! ( BUT Sadly you took BLACK Colour one ☹️ ).
Not even in the same league. Peak torque means nothing unless you happen to ride everywhere at exactly those rpm. At every single speed increment the 4rr will be faster so long as you use the appropriate gear and most of the time much, much faster. When you have a 77hp bike vs a 45hp bike its a complete no contest. Yes the rr will need to rev harder but then it can. The 4rr will have a redline well over 6000rpm higher - or around 50% more. Which one pulls better from what rpm is a silly metric when they both run different rpm ranges and gearing. Look at thrust at the back wheel over rpm range and the 4rr obliterates the ninja4. In a gear with the same top speed the 4rr would only need 66% of the torque to push as hard. Its more of a match for an R7 (MT-07r) than a ninja 400.
Buy the ZX4RR as well. It’ll be a very rare bike one day soon, and there’ll be no shortage of people who regret not getting one, or not having been able to. Or just trade the 400 in on it, if you can’t swing for two bikes at once.
11k rpm in first gear on the 25r is only 27 mph or 43 km/h. The bike has plenty of thrust in low speed areas, and it’s fun to rev out. The 4rr will just be considerably faster in terms of acceleration and top speed. It should be an excellent balance of high revving fun for the street or track. Speaking to those who think they need more torque, just go buy a bike with more torque. Or maybe give up on motorcycles and drive a truck, lol.
The CB300R is over 100 pounds lighter and has a lower center of gravity. It’s plenty quick until you get to 50-60 mph, then bikes like the 500 take the cake.
@@sugardaddy9721 just a heads up, the CB300R is neck and neck to 60mph/100kph when compared to the zx25r. If the 25r is good enough, the CB300r is better, as it makes it’s power in the low-midrange, and it’s more linear, which means better control.
No it really doesn’t. Everything is relative. It would be a little heavy for a $10k single cylinder 400cc bike but not a inline 4 with bigger wheels and tires and a much heavier and beefier exhaust with twice the pipes obviously and the weight of the tech differences, not sure if it has an imu but still
@@Fee.1 It is heavy. Too bad they went with a steel frame. My first bike was a '90 FZR400 inline 4. It weighed 85lbs less than a FZR600. This bike is only 15lbs less than a ZX6R and weighs the same as a 600RR. And it costs $500 more than an R7.
It has three catalytic converters to pass emissions regulations. Take them out and you will absolutely notice a difference. You can even sell the cats, lol. I guarantee Kawasaki expects buyers of this bike to put full exhausts on these things.
It will be an 'ok' starting bike, but buying any bike new isn't usually the best idea for a beginner. Even used these are going to be kinda spendy for something you are likely to drop. In 6 or 7 years when you can find 'em used and pre-dropped for like $5k (and you are all about that sportbike life) yeah, you could safely start on it. 80HP isn't earth shattering and 415ish lbs isn't that heavy. I hear the seat height is reasonable. Only really down side is that any sportbike with clip-ons is a little awkward at parking lot speeds - increasing the chance of a drop somewhat. Real world top speed of a zx-4rr will likely be ~130mph (~215 kph) But that last 10 mph will take a while. Will probably get to 60mph in just under 4 sec and to 100mph in around 10 sec.
