Thank's, had to do something special for my buddy Jim ..lol Going to be a few more vid's in this series, boarding then drumming & see where it goes from there. All my marten go large & above & i've been told that when you go further North in Labrador they are normally larger again, thank's again... William
Thank's, he sure did, many many years of experience. Not at all, i'm not sure but i'll ask him next time around & get back to ya on that one, but it's probably from the fur harvestors catalogue since he's a agent for them ..!!
Damn brother this series is going to help a lot. Love it when folks specialize or showcase their talents in videos. Then real learning is taking place. Awesome and already picked up a handful of helpful hints. Sawdust is great. Thumbs way up sir. Beautiful martins you caught.
Good job on the skinnin. I always use sawdust too for a greasy pelt, lost without it, and for those fleas I spray a bit of black flag in a fox feed bag and put the animal or animals in there for a few minutes. works. you can get the commercial powder too. I have pets and hate it when they scratch; makes me itchy just thinking of the little creeps.
Thank's Boss, yes if it wern't for Jim I would have to scale back forsure. Marten's are a pleasure to trap when the sets are in order, but I think otter is my fav to trap, didn't really know that tell this year ..lol
Thank's, Jim makes it look so easy, well experienced. From the site FlixPress, you go make your intro on their site then download it back, pretty cool ..!!
Thank's, this is gonna be a series of vids but first were going to deal with marten, next will be marten boarding, then turning & reboarding & finally drumming, then we'll see where it goes from there ..!!
I had heard that the Labrador marten were the best in NA and I really didnt see why until I seen your videos. Big and dark, very nice marten. We are lucky here in Ontario as we have some of the best beaver in NA. Just think, 5 times the work, 5 times the size for 1/4 of the price of a marten. Boy are we blessed....LOL Good luck with the rest of your season.
Thank you, This series will be loaded with alot of helpful tips & very educational. Jim is a natural at this & more than happy to share his knowledge, glad you enjoyed & leared from the first vid of what should be a great series. Thank you again ...William
Thank's, we got another couple vids on marten then fur drumming, we will eventually get around to foxes forsure, you can get info from the trappers guide on where to send your furs, just keep watching the vids, they will be ;loaded with tips, thanks again ...William
Man was this a great video William...That guy made it look way to easy, Im guessing he has did a few in his day, hats off to him also...This maybe a dumb question but what kind of knife was he using?
Thank's, that is the sawdust mixture that came out of the fur drum. Fine sawdust would do, helps get a good grip & soaks up a bit of grease. Suggest you watch the rest of the vid's in the fur master series, there you should get the answers your looking for. Thank's again ..!!
Gm Bigland tapper this would be my 1st full yr at trapping and to date i have 7 foxes and 1 coyote woundering if you guy can do a video on foxes and coyote from skinning to to placing them on the bords I am from newfoundland and if you can send me some info oh were to send my furs and any other tips thanks love videos kept the videos coming Tony
Sometimes the mice eat on their tale if they don't fall out of the conibear box. I had to cut off about an inch of the tale on one of my martens. Do you think it matters?
Hey great vid man , I'm 15 ad I live in NIiagara falls Ontario and I was wondering if there were any guys really close around here so I ca take part in trapping and get my licence after doing the course. Do you know of anyone close? Thanks your man Justin
Thank's, yes that saw dust sure does the trick, old Jim is as tough as nails when it comes to them fleas, I don’t think they even bite him ..lol Not me I itch just thinking about the little buggers ..lol
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30) Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. (Psalms 51:1-4)
Nicely done buddy. I wish I had someone to do my skinning. I hope to trap a marten someday.
