Sure appreciate the video, Morley Smith really knows his stuff and I'm sure there are many more moose and dear still alive because of him. I'll have to try this next year. Thanks again.
Now that guy knows how to snare wolves. Good lord 4 in one day. Thats awesome!! I got a few friends in Alaska that spend a hole season to get 1 or 2!!!
This was an excellent lesson on wolves. I can see where we were wrong on our attempts this season. Communicating is key and using that to your advantage takes skill. Definitely putting this into practice next season for sure! well done!
he may have caused a lot of work but it wont hurt my back one bit , no wolves here in N.B.and we don't want them . going to try this on coyots this fall .
Awesome video man! I just found your vids and this was the first 1 I watched now I'm thinking I may be addicted to them lol. I put all of my yote snares on drag poles to along with traps to let them get off of main trails.
That was a very educational video, well done. I wish we could use these big "drop down" snares for coyote where I live. Only RCR's with limited hoop diameter and not within reach of rooted woody entanglement.
@@TrappingIncTV I can only assume that because the population density of this and similar regions is higher than other area, the chance of I incidental domestic catches is higher. This even with leash laws causes negative press for trappers, which we don't need. Myself, the only dog I caught in a trap was my own. I took it as sign of a good set. So RCR's it is. I ofthe find spots where scrub trees make a perfect location. I will then cut them off at ground level, punch a hole with my anchor driver and put the scrub in the hole creating non rooted woody entanglement. We do what we have to.
Most bait is fed to the birds. The bird activity attracts the coyotes, so yes the carcasses work for bait. I just put them away from the main bait pile more out in the open.
How do you remember where all your traps and snares are so you can check them? Do you put surveyors ribbon up near them? Seems like someone could steel all your traps if you did that?
I flag and mark on GPS but that stuff is for the whiteouts and darkness when you can't tell where you are. I have a dang good memory. Except for wedding anniversaries! LOL
Did the bait is concealed or is left at the sight of Ravens and crows? Is the bait placed so that the wind brings the smells to the trail? Martin Girard paysho
Excellent job Morley. I trapped many of red and grey foxes back in the 70s and 80s . The pelts would bring about $65 for grey and $80 for reds. How much would a wolf hide bring in today’s market?
Trapping Inc TV Series , How about tanned hides & trappers caps. I got $600 for the trappers hats alone. .more for the all black ones. Is that $240 american or canadian? Its been a few years since I ran my lines & your getting ROBBED!
Great Video! I have one question do you have to wait 3 weeks to go back to check the snares? I know nothing about wolf snaring. (Well I do know a little now!! ) Thanks!!
Love all your shows you and Sandi put together. I have a question about the wolf setup. I noticed you had checked them 3 weeks after setting up. is that normal or should a person be checking more often? Keep up the good work 👍
Morley believes that you don't scare the wolves off. He says they know you go hand in hand with the bait. They accept your smell. He says don't bring a stranger to the bait however. And yes the less disturbance the better.
Started trapping in Ohio at age 7 1953 have trapped most years but thanks to actors who degraded trapping , but furs are best winter protection from cold
Fake fur, if ya can call it that will never be as warm as real fur , otter , coon , coyotes fur wears well extra warm no one can beat real God given Fur
I love the thought of killing predators. I definitely don't mind even if I don't deliver a kill shot and they suffer a few days before they die. They make sure their victims suffer. Just now really getting into hunting and trapping. Starting with coyote, bobcat and cougar locally. Gonna be doing Grey wolf and Brown bear one day...
the concept of pain and suffering are human emotions. Animals don't make other animals suffer on purpose. They just don't have that sentient ability to reason. They only have so much energy to expend every day. When that animal quits trying to run away they quit using their teeth to kill it and start using them to eat. So many many animals especially animals attacked by Wolves Bears get consumed while still alive. There's nothing cruel about it it is just Mother Nature. Good luck on your trapping career
Really enjoyed the show Rich, appreicate anything on wolfs. Maybe think of doing some foot-hold trapping on wolfs also if possible. Just moved to Montana from Alaska. It's illegal to snare wolfs here, hard to believe. Anyway you guys do a great job, look forward to all your shows, always learning been trapping for 50-years. Alaska John
@@TrappingIncTV I can understand killing to eat. They aren't vegetarians, but eating stuff alive, I have a problem with. I always wanted to gut shoot hyenas because of that and I watched a video about bear attacks and one guy said, if this bear takes one more bite out of me I'm going to die. Bears eat you to death too and I don't intend to be a snack or a meal for anything

Gearing up for my first big attempt at wolves on my line here in Ontario. Have absorbed a lot from this episode. Thanks Rich and Morley
Good luck!
By far the best wolf sharing video out there. Watched it numerous times just to get pumped up . Thanks
Wow, thanks!
like the hill concept , makes sense ! thanks again for snaring i mean sharing !
Incredible video! Took them three weeks to find the bait station, and you caught 4 in one night. Unbelievable!!
thanks Morley! you're the best !!!

Interesting subject especially the circling around bait.
Fascinating animals!
Great show, love watching it every week
Nebraska trapper here we don't have wolves so this episode was really cool.
Wolf trapping shows, lynx, cougar, and martin/fisher are the best to watch
What a wolf harvest, Enjoyed the video from my warm cozy home. Amazing that ya got four!
Morley got eight in one night from 1 pack. That is his best
first full year trapping this coming season and my goal is 1 wolf or 1 coyote!! So this was a great ep for me to watch!!
Much appreciated guys!!
Excellent lesson for me, although I am forced to use Rams, I still got some ideas on how to better place them next season from Morley.
Very nice catches Rich. Not long now and you'll be after them again. Good luck this season and be safe out there.
You got some beautiful wolves great job keep up the good work
GREAT SHOW! loved it.
OMGoodness. fascinating and informative. Thanks
awesome buddy i ordered some 1/8 7x7 cable after this video pal really thanks a lot for sharing
That was an AWESOME video! Those wolves are BEAUTIFUL! I've NEVER seen 4 wolves caught in the same area!
Very good show; nice to see how to really thin them out. Great tips!

great job on those wolves. enjoyed the video. from north dakota, usa

Awesome video, I felt like I was there. That sounds like a good way to catch coyotes as well.
Baits kill lots of coyotes for sure
He was right about catching all of them in the pack. Very knowledgeable trapper.
He is the wolfman!
That's impressive!
That was a great clip TY
welcome!
Nice job trapping-keep up the good work!
Thanks, you too!
The gloves you use to set your snares, rubber Glover’s the best?
How often are you required to check your sets? We have to check ours every day.
Killing traps and snares have no check time. Restraining traps have a 24 hour check on residential traplines and 48 hour on registered lines.
LOVE THIS!!!!
Thanks!
great vid, gonna try this for sure thanks for sharing your knowledge
It works awesome!
Enjoy your videos very well made. From bovey mn usa

Can you use the skinned carcass for bait ? I understand the wolf has a anise gland , which of course would have to be removed

How often do you check you snares?
every 4 days
Nice coloured wolves
Have you seen some wolf tracks before putting bait or the smell and raven did the job?
Both usually.
That was 90 lb of meat in a week hunting, or 300 - 400 pound in a month just those 4 wolves.
You eat wolf meat?
It takes 20,000 ungulates to sustain a population AND feed 4000 wolves!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
AWESOME.
Did the bait is concealed or is left at the sight of Ravens and crows? Is the bait placed so that the wind brings the smells to the trail?

Bait is in the open to attract ravens. Snares are in the bush on the downwind side of the bait.
Excellent job Morley. I trapped many of red and grey foxes back in the 70s and 80s . The pelts would bring about $65 for grey and $80 for reds. How much would a wolf hide bring in today’s market?
Average for good hides taxi skinned about $240

I’ve known some people who tanned the hides of beautiful and large wolves perfectly and they’ve gotten up to $900 for clothing made.
That is Can $ at auction. These 4 I tanned and sold for $600/each
Hello there. Sweden calling. You makes the best trapping films by far. Thanks!

No, I check every 4 days but unless there are tracks around i don't go right into the bait.
Understood! Many thanks fo answering questions.

just stumbled on you guys. awesome.
Welcome aboard! And please spread the word!
Totally jealous! We don't get to touch the governor's pets in Wisconsin
We have a leash law. 😉
@@TrappingIncTV I'd love to put a "Dakota" leash on them ALL
Morley Smith is hella smart
Yar he is!
I , is Mr.. Smith putting a 26 gauge wire to hold the lock open to . Is it fore the snare to drop faster !
Yes. He does it for just toothed cam locks only. Couple jerks and the wire dislodges and the cam lock functions as normal
love the show watch it all the time I am from Edmonton and love it here keep up the great shows and tips
Thanks!

wolf baits are set long after beers are out here in the north otherwise it could be an issue

did you still have a lot more on your line, after this ?
Two more packs moved in, about 16 animals in all
