Louis Rossmann is a true hero, more people should take a look over his work, not only for macs fixing, but for right to repair and his stance against abusive policies from corporations.
A good teacher always welcomes new knowledge, and he does it and posts it he never take credit on something he didn't know, your the best Mr Sorin😊 and another lesson to the subscribers
Oh no, the capacitor is too big, what do we do? 1. Let's find a more appropriate size capacitor ❌ 2. Let's make a proper calibrated space ✅ Good job btw, such a nice laptop for an old machine.
so i can say yes you can watch a youtube video and repair a laptop. thanks to your videos i did another one. dead dell, no power no charging. opened it up and checked the main power rail. was present thru out the board. tried injecting voltage and using thermal camera. didnt inject... so i magnified it and checked board. found water damage by ec chip. cleaned it up and plugged power in. was checking power 5v and 3.3 volt on ec. 5 was present but no 3.3. then i felt a little shock in my hand resting on the power management chip. thought how can i get shocked and then it burnt me. lol, was sick. so power management chip is dead and now its not. thanks Sorin!
3 am, and here I am watching a guy on TH-cam, fixing a laptop by watching a guy on TH-cam fixing a laptop. You are about to enter another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!.
Louis Rossmann is top Master of Mac book 100%. I hate the MacBooks but I have repaired few of them just from the good info fro watching Louis Rossmann.
Oh Sorin that was a very sweet repair! Rising from the dust of an old Apple MacBook to the heights of a refulgent and restored laptop! Thrilling and delightful stuff. Classic! Bravo! Joyous!
Well, I finally got to see you replace the capacitor LO. LI never thought I'd see the day but I do look forward to watching your videos every night when I get home from work. Usually they're about 12 to 14:00 after the fact, but that's okay. Now I just want to see you. Let the smoke out. That'll make my day. Always love your videos. Great job .
Hi Sorin, nice video as usual. You could buy an ESR tester, to test de equivalent series resistance of any capacitor, so will be easy to find for those faulty or leakages.
@@mcblocked2 Those cheap chinese LCR-T7 component testers will test capacitor ESR. It's probably not as good as a standalone esr tester but they seem to do the trick for me. For the price they are great
Hey sorin I have been watching some of your videos and I learned alot about laptops. Im a very young boy and im thankful that you exist. I dont wanna have a job doing these stuff, but I want to achieve new skills and I am learning from you so much so, that I am confident in fixing my Laptop. ❤ Thank you so much sorin :)
I always find your content very useful Sorin. I wish I had as much knowledge as you do. I am fixing everyday hope I will become much more successful as you are. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I have adopted that idea in my daily life...Every time I have to do anything I first look for a video of it in the internet... BTW that's the way I found your channel and it was "subscription at first sight"!!!
Sorin, that video was fantastic. It shows you can always learn something new everyday. Its great that TH-cam can even help experts like your good self. Excellent as always 👍
These macbooks are notorious for having their radeon gpu's overheat because of apple's bad cooling and lazy fan curves. I have fixed a couple of these by reflowing the gpu and fixing the cooling issues. One of the problems is that the air intake is in the crack between the screen and body, the same crack that the hot exhaust leaves through. You can drill holes in the bottom of the case right below the fans for intake and this helps the cooling a lot.
the cap probably had high ESR, so it was a must to remove it, otherwise the output voltage was dragged down to 0.3V. That was a nice laptop, form the time when they had SOdimm and separate SSD.
hi Sorin would a check of the coil output have confirmed the the problem if you knew what voltage output should have been, life is learning curve for us all , it also learning from others, that is why you Chanel is good for us for me thanks very much. regards Jim 73
You helped me a lot .that why I am here everyday! I want to ask something.1225c ic get hot every time I apply voltage from power supply (it needs 24v at gate) to the primary mosfet. Then it opens. they are not short, no short at all actually on the board but this ic(1225c) gets hot everytime and no 3.3 and 5 volt!
you say it's easy to search and find .. as long as people like you and handful of other are putting correct and professional knowledge it is useful.. otherwise it can be confusing and waste of time
If you have the Macbook Pro 15" 2010 logic board 820-2850 with the same issue (not booting, white screen, scrambled video): replace capacitor C9560 with a 330uf cap.
2011 MacBook Pros are still perfectly useable under High Sierra (Mac Os 10.13). Not a "current" system, but I've been working with it until last year with no problem whatsoever. I had to upgrade (meaning, new computer) because of a SINGLE stupid third-part application I'm forced to use :(

Hi Sorin, nice video as usual. You could buy an ESR tester, to test de equivalent series resistance of any capacitor, so will be easy to find for those faulty or leakages.
Good idea! Which one is the best one to recommend?
I tried to place the links for purchasing, but never appear, dont know why...
Peak Atlas ESR that's the one I recommend. MESR 100 is the one from China.

When you get stumped, go to the master. This is exactly why I follow your channel. You have helped me with problems just like this. 😊

It would be interesting to see Louis' diagnostic. Like the first time he noticed this was the issue

Wouldn't be a Sorin video without some dodgy shit. xD
