    Daiso was our go-to place for kids dishes. They were always well designed and some of them lasted through all 5 kids!

    I will be returning to Japan in May for the first time since 2018 and I’m so excited to be hitting these stores !

    I went to Shimo kitazawa in December 2022 and there were a wide variety of 2nd hand clothing shops. I even bought myself some working clothes there. Nearly wanted to buy a 2nd hand ski jacket as well.
    It is really an underrated place for tourists but the locals know all about this place and the streets were crowded on the Friday I was there.

    The antique markets always have a wild array of item options too and we would often hit them just to see what the vendors put out. I have found some very unique and beautiful gifts for family while perusing the many stalls.

      @@liorxr8798 My favorite antique market is at Yamato Station on the third Saturday of each month. There are also big markets at the Tokyo International Forum on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month.

    Don Quijote has some great stuff. I got a cool set of Princess Mononoke playing cards there for 1,000 yen. And a bottle of Jameson for 1200 yen!

    Hi am in Tokyo at the moment. Do you know which Daiso store you filmed in? We saw something of interest in your video we're trying to buy. Can't seem to find it in a couple of Daiso's we visited.

    Antiques , used items, sounds great. Do they still have the antique market on weekends at some temple near harajuku? And akasaka?

    • @tokyocheapo
      @tokyocheapo  ปีที่แล้ว

      We're not aware of any antique markets at Meiji Shrine (the only temple/shrine of significance near Harajuku) and sadly, the weekend antique markets at Nogi Shrine in Akasaka are not happening anymore. Your best bet is the Tomioka Hachiman Shrine antique market on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of each month.

    Odd that Seria is not mentioned in this video though. I would go to Seria first and Daiso only if i cannot find the things i want in Seria. Seria things are all 100 yen.
    I bought reading glasses and umbrellas and snacks from there before.

    • @madamfirefly1
      @madamfirefly1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seria is also my most favourite place for cheap goods. Perhaps not as popular and filled with any kind of goods, but I found they have good selection and mostly affordable.

    • @tokyocheapo
      @tokyocheapo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to know that Seria is your go to! Daiso is perhaps the most famous 100 yen store but others like Seria and Can Do have some good items too.

    Seria is not mentioned here. IMHO Seria is the best option you can get for affordable goods. Some even priced ¥ 100 each. Not as crowded as Daiso. I bought so many small and beautiful ceramics and chopsticks here.

    interesting, where can you find bad Japanese->english translated goods? i really want o find some awkwardly translated item. i found some cool items in Nakano broadway. it was a struggle to not look in every store as there were so many cool things to buy. i did get a few items in the end but could've easily splurged alot more....

    • @tokyocheapo
      @tokyocheapo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tricky question! Not sure if there’s a place you can reliably find funny/awkward translations, but shops that appeal to a younger and more design conscious Japanese customer would be worth a look (English copy on products will be for the way it looks not for the benefit of English speakers).

    • @tokyocheapo

      2 weeks is a sensible length, especially if you’re coming a long way to get here.
