An ode to nostalgic 16-bit gaming that is inspired by classics such as Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi, and Castlevania. DEMON CRUSH is a fast paced, side scrolling combat platformer set in a fantasy world based on the history and martial arts of ancient Japan. Battle warriors, demons, and beasts as you avenge the fallen and defend your home against the deceitful warlord Nezumo and his demonic master, Mathonas.
In Demon Crush, you become Kenzo Yagimoto as he defends his home from an otherworldly evil returning from the ancient past. Master the weapon arts of the Yagimoto clan to save your beloved Gochima village from the burning blades of the warlord Nezumo and the dark secrets concealed in his hidden fortress! Only then can you confront his long-forgotten demon master, and save your world from being consumed by the endless hunger of demon hordes.
Demon Crush is a fast-paced 2D sidescrolling combat-platformer that blends expressive, combo-based fighting mechanics with the charming visuals and intuitive controls of a bygone era. Play as multiple characters, master different weapons and combat styles, and plunge into adrenaline-soaked action in a fantasy Japanese setting. Wall jumps, air combos, grappling hook traversal, super moves, chaotic battles, death-defying leaps, and razor-sharp duels to the death against inhuman, villainous bosses all await you!

Demon crush looks like a great game I hope it comes out for the Nintendo Switch that has sequels, a version of the game that I would like to see styled like this, klonoa, bloodstained cursed of The moon 2 and mina the hollower a style version of each and the other everything possible mixed of these versions in a game is conquest Crystal palace there and saiyuki west journey could even be a beat em up version and rpg amd tactics like onimusha with several selectable and playable characters and this new demon crush game too, waiting for a version of it on the nintendo switch, great video, Brazil.

Thanks! Both Curse of the Moon games were really fun! And yes, we do plan on taking this to Switch! It's far too early to talk about sequels (or prequels?), but we are planning to put this on Switch.

Yeah, there are a ton of roguelikes and metroidvanias, and no slight to them, but we wanted to see more hand-crafted, action-heavy experiences. So here we go!

Demon Crush attempts to use challenge and fun as motivation. We want you to try, and have fun finding your own fighting style, but we're not out to frustrate you into ragequitting.
For example, we're very careful to make all our combos work with simple input and not be too hard to string together. What makes it interesting, fun, and creative are the tactical choices you make, which combos you use and in what situations, not whether or not you've mastered a bunch of long, frame-perfect input sequences.

Good question! The current plan is for the Switch version to come out as close to the Steam release. A physical release is something we want to do, but we'll have to see how the numbers look when we get closer.

the combat looks awesome, but I hope theres an option to turn off the combat grunts cus they are gonna get real old real fast.
They play randomly in the game, not every time you do a move. We turned up the randomness for the trailer recording sessions to call attention to the moves. We also have several variations of each combat grunt/shout. Hopefully we'll strike the right balance!

We were surprised when we searched for the game's name to see if it was already in use to see how many demon-themed dating sims are out there! Didn't know that was a thing!

Why this remember Okinawa Rush?
We took inspiration from Okinawan and Japanese martial arts, history and mythology, and our guess is they did too! It's a pretty cool concept, after all.
Any plans on PlayStation console release?
We are considering that, based on demand and customer feedback. We'd love to have it on Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft consoles.

Sure was! Paper2D can unlock a lot of capabilities in what is normally seen as big AAA engine, and the rest of the engine has some good features, tools, and pipelines that really help.
@@revertingcastles This changes a lot, i thought unreal wasn't good at 2d.
@@chigstardan7285 It's not designed for it, but it is capable of doing it and has an Epic plugin (included for free in the base engine) for it, as well as some enhanced plugins made by users. This game uses the built-in plugin with only a few very minor modifications and extensions.

Both! We imagined what a game would feel like if there were games that bridged the gap between NES and XBox Ninja Gaiden. So we have sidescrolling platforming, but also beat-em-up combat with lifters, juggles, throws, super moves, and multiple weapons.

Sorry, it's not a coop game at present. Maybe a local coop challenge/arena mode could be a stretch goal, though!
What is this going to be on?
PC on Steam, probably also EGS and GoG. We're planning on getting it ported to Nintendo Switch, too. PlayStation and XBox will be done if customer demand is there for it. The trailer is great, but the parallax movement at 0:13 is wrong: if it's a tilt, then it doesn't need parallax because the camera i pivoting. If it moves up, then it should show more of the city, not less. So you either remove it or reverse it.
What if it's meant to be rising while looking up? Of course, since it's all 2D sprites, there's an element of "faking it" that's inherent to that kind of camera movement.
