I was really hoping blzaing spirit would get a mini rework with this weapon. There potential via talents is pysker tree to have good syngery with soulblaze and melee for toughness regen that would in theory allow pysker to be a bit beefier in melee. Either more stacks on crit or less stacks but guaranteed would have been nice.
@@marcfleuren7691 Something similar to lacerate would be insane. 1 stack of soul blaze per hit to synergize with the talents. Especially stuff like souldrinker

Someone's probably mentioned it already in the comments but if not: Soulblaze on crit is useful when combined with talents, not necessarily for the burn damage. And no, I'm not even talking about the "spread soulblaze" talents which are... conditional, it's mainly for WARP CHARGES so you can spam your ability more. All 3 abilities are strong with a warp charge build: infinite shields, even more soulblaze vent, or go scrier crit spam, rinse repeat. You can have so much CDR that your scrier gaze or bubble is up 24/7, not to mention the increased damage from having warp charges + toughness gain on top of everything else. In certain situations, you can literally venting shriek twice within 3-5 seconds and even with a low peril shriek, you are still refreshing the stacks and anything above 6 stacks will cause major damage over a THIRTY meter cone, through walls and cover! 10% chance to gain a warp charge when an enemy dies with soulblaze does not require the enemy to actually die to soulblaze: they just need to be burning from it (the caveat is that it needs to take at least 1 tick of damage from soulblaze, so instantly killing an enemy as you apply the burn doesn't work). Unless it has been changed which I don't think it has.
this was my reasoning aswell for picking it, great utility with the soulblaze blessings, you have a horde clear with your shriek, a crusher killer with the stabs and a very good blob killer with the sword swipe, I bring an autogun for the specialists and my build is very rounded off, this sword pretty much does the same thing as the dueling sword for me, albeit slower.
One of the biggest traps on this weapon is thinking you need a full charge for the beam to be useful. Use it ALL the time. Uncharged beam can disrupt gunners, trip up hordes/Elites, and just plain adds damage to hitting the first big guy in front of you and if you are running Warp Rider, Warp Splitting, and Unstable Power on the blade... Good news! you just primed your weapon for more cleave and damage on targets. Just uh... be careful around bursters...

Compare it to something like Rampage & UP has a harding time maintaining it's max value & puts you at risk if you do, all while given almost half the bonus of Rampage.
Performance wise, probably because of the builds i use, i have a hard time selecting this sword over my standard bread and butter Force Sword. One thing i cannot deny tough : Big Force Sward stronk and feels good to use. Also its got the swagger, an advantage one cannot overlook.
The first 2 heavies for the mk8 are different from the rest in a continuous chain of heavies. More cleave less strikedown than the rest I've noticed. Also with mk6, if you didn't get a heavy stab on the first heavy, it will be the second heavy you attack with. The mk6 sprint heavy is a strikedown vs mk8 cleave.
I think main value of deflector is not saving you when you get out of position but more of possibility of aggressive plays under gunfire, because you can tank a lot of bullets with kinetic deflection+deflector
I have been playing with Wrath and Unstable Power. My Scryer's Gaze will almost always be active when I am dealing with a high number of mobs, so I figured it can help. when I picked up the relic sword I was really hoping psyker's sword would work the same, just building peril instead of heat. I have to say though, getting a moonlight greatsword in darktide is pretty fuckin sweet
Deflector isn’t for my misplays, it is for my team’s misplays and now I as the squishiest character have to clutch so worrying about one less thing takes the stress away. That said that argument is for the force swords which are much faster than this beast of a weapon and don’t need a cleave perk to feel right. Crit on dodge plus increased cleave is the way to go. If it had an ignore hitmass blessing I would take that over the cleave though. Too bad the cleave increase does not seem to effect the special.
@@Reginald-sc9tk Yes but infinite cleave is kinda a misleading tag though because it still loses damage on consecutive targets so increasing "ingfinite" cleave would increase the secondary target and onward damage. I mean sure the attack will "hit" everything and apply its full stagger value to all targets but swinging it into a crowd only for a mauler or crusher to eat most of the damage, leaving the horde still standing, is such a mood killer lol.
@@ShiningDarknes Maybe I don't understand the mechanic but I believe its actually just ranged damage falloff, not cleave damage falloff for the wave. I have not seen the actual statistics/code and I was not able to perform exhaustive testing before this tutorial. I'm just one guy.
12:51 based on my 1 h force sword adventures, if you quickly chain force push few times you should be able to knock down a crusher on his a%s. Situational but possible.
Love the break down’s but the recommendation’s are in line with the people at high tier damnation auric who die the most or preform the least. Appreciate the info and more in-depth of the perks and general weapon handling tho.
Personally I am currently enjoying using the progressive staff, brain burst only with the kinetic flayer trait, and pretty much everything is so blaze with my previous staff being the one that's built to do serious damage to carapace armored enemies because I find that when you're using the fourth grade swords, you probably using them because you want to use them as your main weapon so using a staff that doesn't require you to constantly have it out and can have great effect even long after it's been put away is a must with my blessings being the one to apply brittle and stacks as well as the one that makes it so when your flames kill elites and specials, there's an extra chance that they fall on explode so not only is there the chance that they pop thanks to kinetic flayer which also means you as a great ability when you don't want to have to constantly pull out your 3 ability with when they burst from that, they'll blow up in a cloud of extra soul blaze fire but there's also the 20% chance that the flat-out explode which helps deal with hordes and large groupings of special and elite enemies as they start blowing up and killing each other leading to a nice chain reaction and also in general heavily weakening them to the point that you don't need the extra carapace armor damage and for me I've only ever really had problems with flak so far as it's quite prevalent add more importantly all black enemies can be killed with the sword not bouncing off of them like it does off of crushers and bulwarks with again they're better to deal with by blasting out some flames on them before them pulling out brain burst and just popping them especially since they're usually all clumped together and slow enough that you have the time to do it
Be honest my build also basically goes into pretty much every toughness buff I could get and is using battle meditation Plus the entirety of the melee traits you can get from I think it's the second row just after the blitz ability selection on the right side of the perk tree where there's an even further quail on melee weak spot hits meaning you can really regenerate a lot of toughness without even needing to have keystone abilities especially if you also grab the 7.5% toughness back on warp attack kills trait because then it really just starts rolling back in what about the only thing I would suggest you get as a must for a bill like this being triple Gunner resistance because at least for me I've never really had a problem with snipers as well they can destroy you, with good movement a sniper should never actually get the chance to shoot you and if they do, it means you were doing something wrong and put yourself in a bad spot or wasted all your stamina pointlessly with gunners are the only ones that quite frankly if they start shooting you then you're probably going to go down before you get the chance to even fill half of your brain burst gauge on them
Also to be honest I also like blazing slice on high crit builds partially just because of the theming of going with all the fire but at the same time well it's not a whole lot of saw blade stacks, when pretty much every hit is a critical hit, it just ends up being more soul blaze and thus more burn on entire hordes and more importantly, the enemies that are too tanky for you to kill quickly making it so they're weaker by the time you slash into them properly and even perhaps dropping them low enough bethel blaze from your Ferguson staff might cause them to literally blow up and serve as even greater AOE damage and more importantly a lot of general damage that will soften up the heavy hitters before they even come close to you thanks to the wildfires spreading your soul blaze to pretty much everything
I need to assign a Mark 6 to a Scriers Gaze build, yet I'm still needing to see a recommended talent tree build as I am working on building up the Mastery of the Force Greatsword
I’m glad they bringing new content and gear to play around with but did they say anything about fixing the stability? All the crashing in the middle of tight games quite often with the same old 2014 disconnected code. I still don’t see how they sent it over to PlayStation with the same problems.
i REALLY wanted warp slice to do.... something. like i was hoping it would just give you a free usage of the max charge ability on that cooldown or something which would be really sick. i wish one of the perks was some sort of passive regen to the ability charge or something, just to get more uses of it
Im genuinely not good at psyker melee but hey I’ll take new force swords. I rarely ever play surge nowadays cuz im more of an aoe staff kinda guy but these will probably replace my illisi. Idk about the lack of mobility with these big ass swords but we shall see come tomorrow.
LOL I renamed my Psyker Elric wielding the two handed force sword ''Stormbringer'' with Wrath and Unstable Power feels very on vorthos since he draws his strength from his sword ;p
I have a question, does wrath work will with warp splitting? like does it go beyond 100%, and if it does, does it increase the damage. and if it does not is there a blissing that is worth replacing wrath with? thank you in advance.
Wrath itself gives like max 250% cleave so yes. They combine additively. However thered a mechanic called cleave damage cap which is the number of targets you can hit for damage.
I really like using Murderous Tranquility since I can make a melee Scrier's Gaze build, but I can understand why you would put it in dump tier since thats the only use.
In order for Blazing Spirit to be a decent choice it has to provide more SS stacks on melee hit. I tried it with melee heavy builds, and frankly any other blessing is a better choice with force swords, even if new talents which regen toughness and give crit on soulblaze kills. A missed opportunity. A classic Fatshark afraid to make something to OP when at the same time they leave stuff like Slaughter, Uncanny or Agile in the game. It MIGHT do better with 2 handed force swords, but with slower attack speed I'm seeing here I doubt it.
Deflector is the defining Blessing of Force Weapons - you didnt mention that you can block shots for team mates by standing in front whilst they shoot over your shoulder, res a team mate or do an objective.
Did they fix Riposte at some point? I thought the dodge blessings ONLY activated when you dodged very specific attacks, were very buggy on proccing, and were considered dumpster tier on all weapons? I would absolutely love to start using them if that's the case.
my argument for Deflector is that it lets you play way more aggressively and confidently but I don't think that's going to show up using the testing method you use. And that's not to criticize it's just more intangible than TTK and plays more with decision making - your test the decision is already made 'I'm going to kill these assholes in this tunnel.'
Anyone have any thoughts on the... secret code? That appears at 2:40? Looks kinda like one of those silly 'dingbat' fonts like wingdings or what-have you.
Shred is better than Riposte in at least 1 situation - when you're sitting inside a bubble chewing up a BoN. Really, it's better than Riposte whenever you're in a situation where you don't need to dodge/have nothing to dodge, which happens more often then you think, particularly in team play (although since such situations are by their very nature not that dangerous, this isn't actually a huge win for Shred - at best you burn down the non-threatening thing faster so that it doesn't overlap with future spawns). Riposte is better for general uptime, so I don't object to you ranking it over Shred, just think you're selling Shred a bit short - if you pick Shred it should be because you're building for specific situations, knowing that your uptime will overall be worse outside those situations.
@@Reginald-sc9tk Yeah, there are a decent number of things in the game that can be dodged but that don't proc any dodge interactions. BoN vomit, ranged attacks from Gunners, Reapers, Snipers. -kuli's guides lists most disabler attacks as being in this category as well, but those DO seem to work according to my testing. I've reached out to them to try and figure out why. my guess is that FS either updated the code to make these attacks count, or it's behavior that only shows up in the Psykhanium.- EDIT: as it turns out it was my own embarrassing lack of reading comprehension.
What is base dodge distance and isn't it the same for all classes? If it's not the same and it's not visible in the game then the dodge distance value on weapons aren't very helpful.
@Reginald-sc9tk Thanks for letting me know. I'm aware that there are multiple things not listed anywhere in the tooltips, like cleave values. This is just another thing to add to the list I guess. Where can I find the base dodge distance in the code? I've seen a comment on Reddit stating there is no base dodge distance for classes, only for the item itself. This comment didn't provide any source or proof.

This is an incredible analysis, and so easy to digest too. Do you have one for the regular force swords as well?
Thanks very much!
when I picked up the relic sword I was really hoping psyker's sword would work the same, just building peril instead of heat. I have to say though, getting a moonlight greatsword in darktide is pretty fuckin sweet
Damn, this sword really makes me miss the pre ninja nerf Illisi sword from before patch 13. Psyker was sooo good back then!
Special has infinite cleave.
@@Reginald-sc9tk if true this is really the strangest weapon in the game lol
I am both excited and terrified to try a melee psyker
Dude this looks so cool. I can't wait to use that and just slide down an horde with 1 swing.
its glorious
Goodbye dueling sword, moonlight great sword is calling my name
@0:14 made me have to change pants
12:51 based on my 1 h force sword adventures, if you quickly chain force push few times you should be able to knock down a crusher on his a%s. Situational but possible.
It does work
Love the break down’s but the recommendation’s are in line with the people at high tier damnation auric who die the most or preform the least.
Appreciate the info and more in-depth of the perks and general weapon handling tho.
sounds like a skill issue, whatever it is you're talking about. I hope they get better.
My pleasure.
I can see this being used for some insane horde clear combined with venting shriek. Either the entire horde is on fire or its been chopped in half.
these look really fun
They are
All the new stuff seems fine, which is nice because that hopefully means less posted and ninja nerfs in the future.
Can't wait for Fatshark to drop a ten dollar skin for it this thursday.
OH.......that opening cleave just made me BRAIN BURST..
hnnnnngggg
Having played GW's short-lived Inquisitor game with Covenant, I was hoping the two-handed force sword would make it to this game since beta.
About. Damn. Time.
Agreed
I need to assign a Mark 6 to a Scriers Gaze build, yet I'm still needing to see a recommended talent tree build as I am working on building up the Mastery of the Force Greatsword
I’m glad they bringing new content and gear to play around with but did they say anything about fixing the stability? All the crashing in the middle of tight games quite often with the same old 2014 disconnected code. I still don’t see how they sent it over to PlayStation with the same problems.
have you filed a request with fatshark? I have pretty rare crashes tbh.
"Warp slice doesnt hit weakspots. Therefore, DD has no effect on damage in my testing"
You mean other than the 15% base damage DD provides?
Yes. It would help if I could read but here we are.
i REALLY wanted warp slice to do.... something. like i was hoping it would just give you a free usage of the max charge ability on that cooldown or something which would be really sick. i wish one of the perks was some sort of passive regen to the ability charge or something, just to get more uses of it
Besides killing hundreds of enemies in a single swing?
@@Reginald-sc9tk so it’s not worth changing wrath
Bro they really gave psyker cleave and dismantle thats crazy
Just six stacks I think hits a breakpoint that makes it useful if I recall the table right
Deflector is the defining Blessing of Force Weapons - you didnt mention that you can block shots for team mates by standing in front whilst they shoot over your shoulder, res a team mate or do an objective.
Dome shield and force wall do that quite a bit better and you're sacrificing a pretty powerful blessing slot for this niche utility
Lets go psyker. Best reject
Did they fix Riposte at some point? I thought the dodge blessings ONLY activated when you dodged very specific attacks, were very buggy on proccing, and were considered dumpster tier on all weapons? I would absolutely love to start using them if that's the case.
To my knowledge yes.
Why this game is more satisfying than Space Marine 2?
Because first person actually complex melee combat
The pinicle of crowd control
Thanks god I didnt level wrong character :D
Oh shit previews!
So does holding escenses do any sort of buffing? Like if i choose to let my sword glow and not fire off the special warp slice
nope
my argument for Deflector is that it lets you play way more aggressively and confidently but I don't think that's going to show up using the testing method you use.
It looks like "Wingdings 2" the most I think
Converted, it says "Slice Mechanics"
Ah, a puzzler. I wasn't hiding anything, just making memes about being insane after not sleeping to make this.
The sword would be even better if soulblaze on crit would proc from a crit sword slice
What happened at 4:07, was that an attack from the warp?!
What are you talking about? I'm completely sane.
Mind Giving out builds for normal force swords please?
Soon
Hai yo!!!
only psycher is allowed to perfom the sword range energy atack?
Yes, its the difference between a power and force weapon. Force weapons are magic. Power weapons are science.
You can dodge his vomit attack
@@Reginald-sc9tk It sadly doesn't proc dodge buffs
@@hatstealer4638 I'll have to test that one. Does it really not?
If they make the psyker more lore accurate like, having multiple powers always at his disposal like in Rough Trader it will be too op.
Well he kinda does now.
Example:
Brain burst
Sanctuary
Staff w/ LMB and heavy cast
Force sword w/ special
How do you get this sword I’m on ps5 I have the normal force sword but I have not seen the force greatsword
Been trying to pick a melee weapon to commit to learning, suddenly doesn't seem like such a hard choice
Can someome recommend me a good build with the mk6 sword? 😮
Sooon
There should be a melee psyker.
there is, go right tree.
1:10 sad grenade gauntlet moment
What is the max cleave damage cap on this weapon?
For melee hits or magic slice?
Hey Reginald, for melee? Slice looks unlimited cleave cap
What is base dodge distance and isn't it the same for all classes? If it's not the same and it's not visible in the game then the dodge distance value on weapons aren't very helpful.
Its not the same for every class.
Its not listed.
Welcome to fatshark tooltips lol
@Reginald-sc9tk Thanks for letting me know. I'm aware that there are multiple things not listed anywhere in the tooltips, like cleave values. This is just another thing to add to the list I guess.
Where can I find the base dodge distance in the code? I've seen a comment on Reddit stating there is no base dodge distance for classes, only for the item itself. This comment didn't provide any source or proof.
