    I started guitar back in August 2021 and based on reviews like this one I got a 112v. I now own a few other guitars and I can tell you that the Pac 112v is a pretty nice guitar for the money, but I think you should get something else. Let me explain...
    The main thing I found myself disliking is the very narrow nut at ~41mm. This is one of the most narrow neck guitars on the market. I think most adult's should go for a 42mm or even 43mm. This is all a personal preference thing, but I found learning chords extra frustrating. An upside is that moving from the 112v to a guitar with 42mm/43mm nuts feel like there is tuns of room.
    The humbucker does not sound that good IMO, but I am unsure if there is any budget guitars that come with a better bridge pickup.
    The last two things are rather subjective, but the last is the main reason I think you should go with another guitar...Lack of information when it comes to replacement parts or improving the guitar.
    After months and months of playing mine every day I began to wear out the 6th string low E saddle. All that 0 0 0, 0 0 0, 0 0 0, metal playing I guess? Pretty much the saddle was developing sharp spots that was breaking strings. (The string hole on the bridge began to wear and develop sharp spots too, but ill ignore that for now.) I figured instead of just smoothing it out I will just buy a new one.
    I found it pretty hard to find the correct replacement. Spent tuns of time trying to figure out what to get, finally guessed and got something that was close, but not matching completely. If this was a Squier it would have been rather easy to find the exact one I needed. As far as I can tell, Yamaha does not sell replacement parts directly?
    Pretty much there is a lack of info when it comes to doing improvement's to these Yamaha guitar's compared to say a Squier. There is very little conversations about Yamaha's on forums and a beginner that wants to replace things like the saddles/bridge/pick guard/tuners/etc will find it much harder than if they just got a Squier. If you want a Strat style guitar the Squier seems like a better model to "grow" into. The Pac 112v seems to me like a dead end. Plays out the box rather nicely, but down the line it's less desirable to have.

      @guitaristnextdoor8430  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for revealing your experiences. 😊👍 Sad the hear that you weren't that happy with 112V. If you can, I would take the guitar to Guitar Store and ask them if they have replacement saddles. You might find one.
      And I think that Yamaha doesn't sell replacement parts. Squier doesn't either, but I do believe that there are more options available with Squier.

    • @wootks
      @wootks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@guitaristnextdoor8430 You are indeed correct that Squier officially does not sell replacement parts. Luckily Fender does and many things carry over. Also retailers will sell complete hardware replacement kits for common Squier models. Not so with Yamaha. In general the partscaster route is just easier with Squier or something that exactly copies it.
      Going to the guitar store sadly was not an option, bought online.
      Don’t get me wrong the Yamaha was a fine guitar, but if you like to DIY repairs/upgrades you have to guess and measure for every single component you want to replace.
      Also this experience is highly variable depending on where you live. I’m sure a region like Japan will have far better support.
      For a complete beginner the Yamaha was great. Played with no issues when I had zero idea what I was doing. It played way nicer out of the box than a more expensive LTD guitar I have did. That thing was totally screwed up and would have been really detrimental to a brand new player.

    • @guitaristnextdoor8430
      @guitaristnextdoor8430  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @wootks 112V I had played really well out of the box too. Really great for beginners. More expensive Yamaha Pacificas most likely have a better situation with hardware since they use hardware of other manufacturers (Wilkinson, Grover, etc.) And yep, maybe in some countries, the support for cheap Yamaha parts is a bit better. 😎

    Can you please review the sterling sub silo 3 by music man
    Is it good for metal?

      @guitaristnextdoor8430  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you for commenting and for the compliments too😊👍I'm glad if my reviews help you out!
      Is that Sterling axe available anymore? at least where I live (Finland) it's not ( I only found this: www.thomann.de/fi/sterling_by_music_man_sub_ct30_cutlass_hss_sbk.htm ).
      I'm for sure going to reviews some Sterlings in the future...but not for a couple of months, but absolutely at some point👌
      but about that silo, it has an HSS-pickup configuration, right? so it can probably do metal, but I wouldn't consider it to be metal guitar...that's my take on it without testing it😊👍

    • @guitaristnextdoor8430
      @guitaristnextdoor8430  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hmmm, that's a tough one... honestly I don't really know which similar versatile guitar is better under $400😮
      Ibanez RG450EXB might come close, it has floyd rose, but maybe you like that😎
      there is also a Quilted Maple Variation of this 112V called Yamaha PAC212V , it usually goes for around $350, but dunno if that's available where you live either...
      but when we move over the $400 price point, the Squier Classic Vibe '70s Strat HSS mentioned on this video is a nice one
      hopefully this helped😊👍

    What's the difference between 112 and 212 bc the price difference is like just $70 and i can't choose but really like the natural finish on 112 and 212 doesn't come in natural finish😔

    • @guitaristnextdoor8430
      @guitaristnextdoor8430  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      212 has a maple body and 212QM has a maple body plus a quilted maple top(you can notice the different looks). A bit better quality body woods on 212's, not a huge difference in use. This helps to compare different Pacificas: europe.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/guitars_basses/el_guitars/pacifica/specs.html
      It's true that the Natural finish looks stunning! Thanks for commenting!😊👍

      I'll tell you what I would do...😎
      if I got the money for this 112V, and the slightly thicker neck is not too bad for me, I would get it
      if I have under $200 budget, want really small hand friendly playability, I would get the Ibanez
      and because I saw your username...😂...for metal, I actually like the Ibanez more, because it has 2 nice sounding humbuckers
      112V gives slightly better tone quality IMO
