Maybe you already know that, but you have to know that you're actually one of the best Ytb channel for learning blender You really explain perfectly EVERYTHING, you talk about every basic part of blender I will never thank you enough for the amazing work you do Honestly, you really are the best, so thx a lot❤
Your tutorials never disappoint. Thank you for clearly explaining this. I have been wondering how to do this. As I am beginning my Blender journey, I can be building my asset libraries as I create.
As a note if things are going really strange and everything seems assigned wrong or is not assigned, if you've ever tried to set up an asset library before and have a blender_assets.cats.txt file still lying around, then that can be getting in your way. Make sure that you don't have a file with the same name anywhere in the folder structure above each of your libraries.
Great tutorial as usual. I have thousands of pbr materials. As you can imagine it's impossible to have just one bl file with 40 GB of assets. How would you do to synch catalogs of multiple bl files? Thanks
21:22 I tried to add a model of my character that has a skeleton and meshes that are in collection to assets, but when I try to add it to another scene, it becomes an instance, that is, I can't pose it and make animations, I have to remove the instance every time so that it can be controlled. What should I do so that the assets I added do not become instances and I don't have to click on it every time?
Thank you for this nice tutorial! Is there also a way to add single object/texture/materials to an existing asset library? Meaning if I have set up a central asset library and I am working on a new project and within that project I create some new object as asset. Do I have to create a separate .blend file for the asset and save it to the asset library manually, or is there a fast way to export only the object to a existing library?
For the asset preview thumbnail it seems like where I place my Cursor (crosshairs with the white and red circle (sorry new to this)) Impacts the preview. So I put a camera at a view of the asset I like and place the cursor there and I dont have to adjust my thumbnail.
What if you create something in a project that's utilizing the asset library, and then decide what you created in that project should have been made in the asset library? Is there a way to easily add it to the asset library file from that linked project?
I'm trying to save a geo node I created; however, it keeps getting Greyed out. I chose the current file option, and that solved it temporarily; however, when I open a new blend file, it does not show. I created several folders on local disk E, but I am not sure how to link that or trace the path. I think it would be helpful to share those parts
Thanks, this tutorial answered the few questions I had after hours of experimentation. 🙇♂ Again, thank you Sensei. Just one question: I'm able to open the file containing the asset in the Asset Browser by right-clicking. Is this just in my "old" version (can't upgrade at the moment)?
Hello. Please HELP! When texture painting on PBR materials from the Asset Browser in Blender, the painted textures are saved directly to the original material. As a result, when I use this material in a new project, it retains the previous project's painted textures, which ruins it. How can I avoid this?
Hi Ryan King Art, I added my rigged character into a collection. But when I drag it out from library, it became a mesh and I can't find the instance button.
Is that mean if I created Christmas asset in the file, I need to save file 1st in asset desktop folder, mark the asset then link the path back? Similarly if I created Halloween asset, I need to repeat the process?
If I have models that I have made in a folder but they were never assigned as assets, will they show up in the assets tab if I just add the file path to the assets library in the preferences?
Is there a specials folder type to use because between what folder path to save to and actually saving the asset im not tracking what youre saving and where to retrieve it for reuse.
Are you a linux user? I have been experimenting with linux a lot more as of late.(because I am getting tired of windows nonsense). I am surprised how much of a proformance boost blender gets. This past couple of weeks have been using linux mint. the only problem I have so far one of my addons is windows based.
mine doesnt save at all. I think you skipped a step when youre explaining how to get it to save so you can access it from a new file. Can you please help me lol.

Man, this is going to make making environments so much easier! Thanks!

Just yesterday I was planning to research about asset libraries.

😀Nice videos, thanks !
Glad you like them!
Does the blender file have to be in the folder you set as the asset library in order to show up?
Thanks )

Nice

Can we set as assets objects that have parenting. For example a house that has windows grouped to it

In Blender 4.2, there is no instance checkbox after adding a collection from the assets. Does anyone know what to do instead?
Yeah. Press Ctrl-Z. 😂

Hi Ryan King Art, I added my rigged character into a collection. But when I drag it out from library, it became a mesh and I can't find the instance button.
So don't expect to put you library on an external drive and have ti work right next time you need to remount?

no, you need to mark them as assets for them to show up

no, there isnt a special folder type, just use a regular folder.
Are you a linux user? I have been experimenting with linux a lot more as of late.(because I am getting tired of windows nonsense). I am surprised how much of a proformance boost blender gets. This past couple of weeks have been using linux mint. the only problem I have so far one of my addons is windows based.
yes I use Linux Mint Cinnamon. I love Linux
@@RyanKingArt nice, I am using the same version. The big thing for me is that my drawing tablet works good on it.
mine doesnt save at all. I think you skipped a step when youre explaining how to get it to save so you can access it from a new file. Can you please help me lol.
Blender is just winning at everything, why use anything else? Unless it's something very specialised maybe
Yes blender is amazing!
you talk too much, make it shorter,
sorry about that, but I try to actually explain why I'm doing what I do, so that beginners can get a good understanding of what there learning.
Thank you very much
welcome!
For some reason when I import my assets, it keeps duplicating them too much. Do anybody know how to fix that?
Thank a lot!
