    Great video! Our research shows that also a legal protection of children from violence (from corporal punishment) is a very important sign of positive peace.

    Galtung"s analysis of violence generally touches every aspect of life and the society. Other works must struggle to do something better. Because his concept is the best. Thank you IEP.

    Well as I like to say " peace isn't absence of violence it's the fear of violence "

    • @b.millan1588
      @b.millan1588 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's the absence because living with fear of violence creates more conflict within ourselves

    • @Simson616
      @Simson616 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It might come useful then to pay attention to the non-fearful incentives towards peace.

    Hi sir, I think that conflict is a natural thing if we deal with it in a constructive way then it will lead us to the peace and prosperity, and if we deal with it in a destructive way then it will lead us to the violence and misery...
    What do u think about it sir??

    Thank you for explaining so lucidly. Can you please give example of cultural violence?

    • @KorczyksClass
      @KorczyksClass  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Cultural violence is a tricky one because there's often overlap with structural violence. Generally speaking it's when a group in society marginalizes another based on internalized beliefs. An example is racism - where one group feels superior to another and that superiority is used as a justification for discrimination. So slavery, for example, was rooted in racism/superiority and justified the practice of people 'owning' others. Another example could be the practice of foot binding as a form of cultural violence against women. I hope that helps!

    Can you Plz explain, Social and political justifications for war?

    • @KorczyksClass
      @KorczyksClass  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Politically wars are justified by states for a multitude of reasons. It's tough because sometimes the way they're publically justified isn't necessarily why the decisions are made internally.
      Another common concept regarding this is the just war theory. You can check out this link for a brief overview.

    Loved how concise and easy to follow this video was, however I do think you misrepresented the Palestine-Israel conflict as a conflict between equal parties as opposed to a case of very clear illegal occupation carried out by the Israeli military.

    Peace theory

  • @kieganirish1240
    @kieganirish1240 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Extremely poor take on Palestine/Israel. There is ongoing active violence on the part of an ethnonationalist settler colony against the Indigenous Palestinian people. Seeing it as an example of negative peace when there is daily direct violence and active policies of apartheid and oppression is very unhelpful.
    That said this is overall a useful theoretical framework and is explained in a straightforward fashion. I think it was badly applied to that particular case reinforcing the dominant narratives about the conflict.
