littleblu33 pffftt no, I'm just naming the Greek counterparts... Though I do happen to harbor a bit of salt toward the fact that the planets are named after the Roman gods and not the Greek gods. 1000 years after the Greeks came up with them, the Romans took all of their god ideas, called them different names, and claimed it was their own. They essentially plagiarized an entire religion. The Romans studied astronomy, and named the planets after their gods. As astronomy progressed the names stuck. What I'm bitter about is that the Romans gods get recognition for ideas they stole. Why does no one even know who Chronos is, but automatically recognize Saturn, his Roman counterpart?? Greek mythology is so well developed and interesting, and though it solves nothing to be angry that Roman gods get the planets named after them when practically no one even knows they're named after gods, I'm still gonna bitch about it.
Minicy no, it's not. they just wrote songs to be like anthems to the Roman God's/goddessess. It's actually like placing a sacrifice to the gods on their alters.
I love the Repetition of “to build a better life”. It’s like he’s saying after everything he’s been through, his life’s only gotten worse with the ptsd. Even though the whole point of war is to build a better life in the end.
I always find such amazing inspiration in their music, I find myself just writing freely whenever I listen to them. Weird thing is I was researching the last couple of days about where my fathers uncle died in war 1945 and while I finally found it where he is buried I was writing about it into my journal and this song came on spotify... I was like that's really reminding me of him what he was going through as a German died in Poland.. like a voice about what happened in the past... so happy to know where he is now
So, I made a little short story for Mars kinda based off this song and about an episode I saw on NOVA about how Mars used to have life (like Earth) and they lived for like 4 billion years then died off right as Earth was just starting to cool down or something like that. So, here it is for your enjoyment. :) A body once filled with life, a mother so grateful for children of the stars. But she was found too late, her babes born too early. Her moons wept the loss, as she smiled sadly at her younger sister’s children. When the last oceans dried up into clouds of copper dust, she grew into great despair. But her little sister trying to pull her from the darkness, sent a little robot named Sojourner. She knew Earth had felt pity for her, and when Sojourner rolled around her red surface she was delighted. He didn’t last long, but years later two other gifts had been sent, named Spirit and Opportunity. Those two robots lasted for years, helping her forget her pain. During a strong dust storm in June, when her kind Oppy breathed his last, she sadly buried his silver body copper sand. But when she looked to Earth, she knew. One day, her sister will send more gifts to help fend off the dark. "They had so much to offer and he knew it. Hadn't they triumphed in everything they'd attempted? Weren't they the heroes of every story so far? It would be nothing at all to them. They could end this war and really begin their lives."
every one of these songs are so deep and meaningfull it makes me shiver but i love them
This is the lyrics translated in Latin back to English
*MAY NOT BE ACCURATE*
We put our names to rest
In the line.
We left our day of birth
On the back of our history.
But we were not full of life,
Barely able to keep.
We we went to war
Strangers no more suffering to gather.
Family, we
But at the same time scared.
We promised we would not be saved
Some of the camp of the lie.
And our backs against the wall
We're surrounded by, and fear.
In our hands
TAKING AIM of the guard.
Our questions ricochet
As the guards broken;
To our bodies are born healthy;
So it is prone to die?
However, time is ruthless,
Lenient end points
By slowing down enough
From the second chance to make amends.
Replayed life, as we have heard a voice announce:
"And now, please take weapons down!
They were descended'll call it off war
Due to the loss Spirit
They that were men of war. "
So we find ourselves back in the home;
Do not try our heal our wounds.
While the war was on the new,
For by one another no one is able to sense things.
More nights are grown.
However, the plan to hand.
'I might be done for grief
While reach the other side.
There is no goodness in my heart
every broken
Who is right up to the edge
The losing everything you have. "
We were young enough signal
In the line.
We have enough youth
To do so might find a better resurrection.
To do so might find a better resurrection.
"Due to loss of spirit, they that were men of war." shit man... this thing gives me chills and makes me wanna cry at the same time
Mars is the roman god of war. Also known as Ares in greek. Thank you PJO
I'm from Trinidad this song is so beautiful n to hear peace n pain spilling from the mouth it's pure beauty 🖤🙏🏾🙇🏾♂️💯
It brings peace to your soul! Can anyone else hear birds singing in the background?
ARES, God of War
... is this hate against the Romans or something?
littleblu33 pffftt no, I'm just naming the Greek counterparts... Greek mythology is so well developed and interesting, and though it solves nothing to be angry that Roman gods get the planets named after them when practically no one even knows they're named after gods, I'm still gonna bitch about it.
memes tbh MARS: god of war in Roman mythology
Minicy no, it's not. they just wrote songs to be like anthems to the Roman God's/goddessess. It's actually like placing a sacrifice to the gods on their alters.
All hail Uncle Rick for teaching me about Greek and Roman gods! Forever be grateful for Percy Jackson books, they taught me so much. #IAmWithTheGreeks
I'm currently writing a new concept to write and I just find their music so easy to write to. It's about corruption in the main capital and the effect it had on a dead district because they lost everything because of the government
This song is more important now than ever
The anthem of every Healthcare worker right now
"For years and years afterwards, once the agony of all those funerals and obituaries and memorials and speeches had faded, Remus would be left with memories of his last months at Hogwarts, when they had been stupid and naive and indescribably happy without even knowing it."
STOPP
Send this to friends with PTSD, it will help.
Our bodies born to heal, become so prone it die
This song still has the best lyrics of any I’ve ever heard. It’s like poetry
I never met my grandpa because he died pretty early.
A body once filled with life, a mother so grateful for children of the stars.
Also, here's the link to the doc with all the rest of the planets (not finished yet). docs.google.com/document/d/1GvTQiqdNYNK3DpVG3jZNubHUx5RUX1J7af03GkIghik/edit?usp=sharing
Beautiful
This is the amount of people whose favourite planet from sleeping at last is Mars
It doesn't matter that it was released in 2017: This is absolutely a song about young doctors working in the front-lines of COVID-19
We laid our names to rest
Along the dotted line
We left our date of birth
And our history behind
We were full of life
We could barely hold it in
We were amateurs at war
Strangers to suffering
We made our families proud
But scared at the same time
We promised we'd be safe
Another lie from the front lines
Our backs against the wall
We're surrounded and afraid
Our lives now in the hands
Of the soldiers taking aim
Our questions ricochet
Like broken satellites
How our bodies, born to heal
Become so prone to die?
Though time is ruthless
It showed us kindness in the end
(By slowing down enough)
(A second chance to make amends)
As life replayed, we heard a voice proclaim
"Lay your weapons down
They're calling off the war
On account of losing track
Of what we're fighting for"
So we found our way back home
Let our cuts and bruises heal
While a brand-new war began
One that no one else could feel
Our nights have grown so long
Now we beg for sound advice
"Let the brokenness be felt
'Til you reach the other side
There is goodness in the heart
Of every broken man
Who comes right up to the edge
Of losing everything he has"
(Losing everything he has)
(Losing everything he has)
We were young enough to sign
Along the dotted line
(To build a better life)
(To build a better life)
Now we're young enough to try
To build a better life
To build a better life
This song is perfect for all of the people including myself who are on frontline during this virus!

I feel like this song is about ptsd of a soldier
5 years and i still come back to this song
I always think about Steve and Bucky whenever I listen to this song.
Sleeping at last brings me so much peace in troubled times.
today's been quite an exhausting day and i've gotten angry multiple times. this is the first thing that was able to calm me down.
i'll be glad if spaceX plays this song when first astronauts of starship is about to go to Mars
this song fits so much to the Covid-19 pandemic and the huge battle to keep people alive 🥺
I thought this song was on the theme of Mars but this song tells the condition of this earth which is full of conflict
I found this song through an Avengers edit (that made me CRY) and now I’ve been sucked into his music and I’m not complaining tbh. Probably gonna choreo a dance to this ngl

this song feels like the tragic remnants of a battlefield during morning twilight, and like a thousand memories and ghosts of past emotions
This song is both powerful and depressing.
For some reason I always think of The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien when I hear this song.
This song makes me think of WW1 :(

Perfect❤
am I the only one who thinks at the possibility that Mars could have been full of life in the distant past?
"You ever wonder what the world could be like, if we had fought for ourselves? I mean, how much did we give for those generals, and for that damn flag. We could have built a whole new world with all those tears and blood. Just, what if instead of dying for them, had gotten the chance to live for ourselves."
He nodded, the truck rumbling along silently as they drove from the airport to the way-station. Home looked so different to him. He nodded anyways, "Kid, that's exactly what I'm back here to find out."
When songs abt war relate to you # ACAB
"While a brand new war began, one that no one else could feel"
