Yo, there's a growing market for episode-length animation on youtube. If you can tap into that market, you'll be golden. The fact that you're an experienced animator means that you're already ahead of half the competition. I'm excited to see where this goes!
While I wouldn't terribly call it a market given the revenue split isn't really livable, it absolutely is a gateway for shows to get picked up by a media company with funding.
though i would worry about visibility, this channel is small, so there is a chance it might not be seen and episode lenght animations are a huge undertaking
Hate to be negative but those are by and large character driven shows. Which leads into how they monetize. Marketable unique designs and aesthetics, capitalized on via merchandise. Im not sure the market in its current state can support a project like this.
@@MetricZero it's just me and sometimes my close friends who help me with technical challenges or brainstorming... but if you have first responder experience I'm always looking for primary research and people to interview!
I don't know if this would help you build your world at all, but you might want to talk to some folks from the Fuel Rats. They're a player group in the game Elite Dangerous that rescue folks that are stuck in space with not enough fuel to get to their destination. It's maybe the closest you could get to talking to an IRL space first responder.
Bro!!! Is that a Taurus Space Station?! Heck ya man! It definitely does not look like an O'Neill Cylinder Space Station at all. Glad to see someone using space-habitats in their fiction!
Oh HECK YEAH. I would watch that in a heartbeat. Finally, a Planetes made truly for the 21st century. The original concert and visualisations were brilliant and spot on for space, but the characters and dialogue was just absolutely grating on the ears.😣😩 A remake could be soo wonderful.
I'm too young to help with anything money related but I hoe at the very least you can hear me say that I want you to work on this. I love the concept you're working on especially since First Responders are pretty much ignored in space media most of the time so I'd love to see you where you take us in your imagination.
Venture Bros and Pantheon are by far my favourite Animated shows. Thanks for helping to make those a reality, and this project certainly has my attention now.
this looks, really love the space ship designs, i at first thought this was set in the star citizen universe because the ship designs where so good! So cool to see spaceships be so well realized
Just an idea, with this sort of thing, it would be amazing if at some point, you could explore at least some of the 3d models in VR, whether through a game, or just a "gallery" of models. This industrial-rescue vibe of the spaceships is amazing, I love the look of them!
whoa that's one dope concept... got mad "The Guardian" vibes from that opening action scene! Rescue in High Orbit sound amazing! I will be keeping an eye on your channel
In love with your project! As a Search and Rescue volunteer on the Mediterranean Sea I send you all my support, looking forward to see more OSR in a near future
Great idea and your passion is undeniable. I hope to be able to support the effort soon. I produced an illustrated short story one-shot for my nephew along similar lines. I was done with violence and "pew pew" in SF, so I can relate to wanting to create high adventure without pitting humans or aliens against each other. Plus, as a kid, I loved EMERGENCY! (yup, I'm getting old) and this is like Gage and Desoto....In Spaaaaaaace!
I'm actually surprised I haven't seen the concept of a space search and rescue crew much at all. There's a ton of unique situations you could put the characters in with how dangerous space is.
That's a really neat premise! It reminds me of a near-future sci-fi worldbuilding project I had started about crews working to prevent kessler syndrome, but I don't have any sort of relevant background to really develop it.
Super keen on this. I love the non-combative aspect, which is sorely lacking in space based scifi. Having a team trying to rescue people, like the super popular medical shows like Grey's Anatomy, is a really original vibe that I really hopes succeed. This is my first Patreon that will be super happy to support.
yeah i will second this, combat is overdone. You could go for adults with casualties and for kids without casualties. there will always be other interesting problems arising and innovative ways to save the people in trouble. don't forget to deorbit the junk after.
this is amazing! i have a very similar project myself, so i think i can relate closely to what you're doing. keep up the good work and good luck! i will be watching your career with great interest
Thank you for your involvement on things like Venture Brothers and vox. I've been a fan of animation for us old farts for a very long time. Stuff like Venture Brothers is special to Guys Like Me who grew up on stuff like Johnny Quest as kids;).
OH HOLY SHIT IM DOWN I fucking love Planetes and also have been seriously wanting a game or even a TV show or movie exploring first responders more, this is absolutely awesome and I just pledged and will definitely share this everywhere
this reminds me of scavengers reign and i love that show so much but netflix of course pulling the plug because they needed more big mouth. anyway keep what you're doing, i'm so excited for the finished product and can't wait to watch it
Hello Stan, this is absolutely beautiful! I'm a composer and I'd love to write music for anything that comes out of this - I am also very passionate about spaceflight and hard scifi and this kind of project is what I absolutely love to work on!
This looks like it could capture the same feeling Planetes (Space scrapper/clean-up crew anime from 2003/4, when trash in space can down multi-billion dollar vehicles, it's a hell of a job to get it gone.) did for me, would love to see more of it, the only downside to watching Planetes was how limited in episodes it is, kinda show you finish and ask why another hasn't been made, a sequel or reboot, kinda like how watching Cowboy Bebop felt before they did that LA series on Netflix. But yeah, if this could match or get near to that feeling of something set in a near future, something that is sci-fi, but I could live to see happen? It'd be the best sci-fi series in a long time. Very few sci-fi series get that feeling, set too far off in time or technological development, kinda why fantasy is so boring to me, cause there's no way I could ever see magic become real. Looking good though, as soon as pay day comes around I'll sign up for the Patreon proper.
I will say, try not to put it on Netflix because of their habit of canning good animated series, with healthy followings/audiences, because they don't get tens/hundreds-of-thousands of views in the first two weeks of release. I'd hate to see such a great idea get traction, only to get canned early, because Netflix reads audience metrics like an impatient toddler.
That really is awesome work Stan, loved the torus hab drum! Amusingly its the topic for next week.
Thanks Isaac! I'll definitely look forward to that episode!
The legend has matched orbit with us!
I wish you all the best with this project, I see a lot of potential.

Looks wonderful. Hopefully Issac Arthur's community sees this, it's exactly their sort of thing
I suspect you're quite right :)
Oh. My. God.
Deserves a shoutout from SpaceDock as well.
I’m here
I'm here. Hope Isaac himself mentions the project on his channel
The fact that there isn't a full 5 season anime is insulting to me. This is just wonderful.
Ive always loved the concept of the Trauma team in Cyberpunk. Thank you for making a world centered on S&R
I love this it's rare to see civil services in sci-fi like this
As a first responder and lover of sci-fi, I support this so hard. I think you have an absolute banger on your hands.
You're the reason I'm making this!
@@StanDrawsSpaceships What's the best way someone could get involved and help? Do you have a team or anyone to help with marketing or anything?

was gonna say, this reminds me of planetes in all the best ways

Looks great dude! I love the spaceship designs. Very cool to focus on search and rescue rather than space wars.
This is easily the coolest Patreon pitch I've ever seen.

I love this style - juicy, clean and slightly strange shapes that make you look at them longer than ordinary spaceships.
Dude this project looks amazing.
I've been subscribed for years. You have really improved, what a memorable style! Great job with the hybrid 2d/3d animation!
That's a really neat premise! It reminds me of a near-future sci-fi worldbuilding project I had started about crews working to prevent kessler syndrome, but I don't have any sort of relevant background to really develop it.

That view inside the toroidal station was awesome.
Pantheon mentioned !!
I just watched Pantheon and loved it. I wish you the best of luck with the show. It looks great.
This looks incredible! Will definitely be watching more of these!
This needs to blow up, I love it
The vibe and art style, so cool
Would watch it

I clicked because i thought this is probably an animated recruit advertisement for a Star Citizen rescue organization lol.
But damn this look sick.
I absolutely loved Pantheon. I hope to see this succeed but can't contribute
Man i'd love a game of this, being a OSR and conducting search and Rescue in realistic space flight, would be so good!
Impressive work, I hope this will develop into something, this looks really cool
I loved Pantheon, this looks amazing!
Really cool, a spiritual successor to Planetes.
Gj mate, also pantheon is such a great show, hope u make big

this whole thing is so cool
Yes, TH-cam, I am interested.
Even just a story board is great.
Looks amazing!!!
Piece of advice from an indie producer: you pay your team FIRST, and THEN cover your own needs - not the other way around.
Well given I'm doing this entirely by myself, I don't have a team to pay yet.
This looks great !
I'd kill for a game about this line of work.
I love this idea!
This would make a great computer game also with lots of rescue scenarios- a game where the player has to save lives instead of take them for a change.
great animation but I prefer the name Orbit Guard because the initials spell OG. Thank you for this great video.
Looks very interesting
