    Cool watch, but maybe you could flip the rubber strap around so the textured side is on the inside as intended by Bonetto Cinturini. That way you see only the holes you actually use and no weird lines. I have that same strap and it is excellent, very clean look and high quality! Cheers Jody, keep up the good work!

    • @jpdemer5
      @jpdemer5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You'd have to be able to flip the buckle around as well - may be possible if it's on a spring bar - but it would be odd if it was shipped the wrong way around.

    • @T83D1
      @T83D1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jpdemer5 I bought this bonetto strap separately and the textured side with the halfway-punched holes definitely belongs on the wrist. So it's odd, yes. I could flip my buckle around to get what you see here but that would make zero sense, totally defeats the purpose of this strap's elegant design..

    • @johnsrabe
      @johnsrabe ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! I did this with an orange strap I wear with my Fauxmega Speedy and it’s a very good look. Maybe the “weird lines” are meant to be relief cuts so it conforms to the wrist better?

    I like ECA in general (I have a “base” calypso sport) but I think this one deceivingly seems to look smarter than it is. If you consider the features objectively: the double scale on the bezel is a simple matter of multiplying or dividing by five, anyone can do it in her or his head in no time. The “compass” is actually an N printed at 6 o clock, so if that’s what it takes, any watch can be a compass, just imagine that N. Yeah it points to am/pm, but we all know when it’s AM or PM, right? The uselessness of 24h sub counters is something most people agree on. So all in all, to me this is just a watch with a dive bezel (but subpar water resistance for a diver) 24h subcounter, and power reserve. Which is not bad but not that incredible amount of features either.

    @ajcallaway123 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Neat piece. Love how that's designed, but agree with the niggles. For me the lugs are odd, 20mm with more 'normal' lugs would make this more multi-purpose (casual, tool, maybe office). Would have thought thinner would be possible, and still get 200m. Love the layout, great design. Will be keeping an eye on this company!

    • @MessagingMatters
      @MessagingMatters ปีที่แล้ว

      The lugs look to me like 80s robot style, at home in the Dire Straits "Money for Nothing" video. 20 mm lug width would look better. Likewise, those hands are not just "boring" rectangles to me, but a bit thin. Perhaps wider sword hands would work better.

    Thanks Jody. Hope your vacation is going well.!
    This is a good looking watch. But, the dimensions are just too small for my 7.5 inch wrist.
    I can get away with wearing a 40mm case, but the L2L has to be 50 or more to not make this watch look asymmetrical on my wrist. Case in point, my Hamilton KD has a 40mm case but a 50mm L width and flat-ish profile and a 20mm bracelet. It wears bigger than it is.
    I think the size of the ECA with the 18mm lug width will just look dainty on me.

  • @nopejnope4444
    @nopejnope4444 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great review Jody! Great looking watch. I really liked their ECA Calypso Denise from a few years ago. If I was to have one watch to rule them all, it would have to be my Mido Ocean Star GMT. True GMT, swiss made powermatic 80 with 80hrs power reserve, 24hr scale on the rehaut, which allowed it to keep the dive bezel, which can be used as an impromptu timer. All with 200m from a watch brand with true heritage. It fits my 8inch wrist superbly, so issue with the size.

    Well, I bought one shortly after watching the review & received it a couple days later, so 👍
    My impressions? I like it quite a bit, but it's got room for improvement. My first impression was that it was begging for a brushed titanium case. The crown is a good size, but it's rounded on the end which makes it a little hard to grip. It would be nice if the lugs extended down a little more it rides a bit high on my 7 1/4" wrist.
    Little grooves on the strap sort of flattened themselves out after several days on wrist and weren't really that noticeable anywayz.
    Overall maybe the additional expense is justified by the limited release and it being regulated, but I think $650ish would make more sense.

    Looks interesting, not for me though right now, my Helm Vanuatu Ti will be ready in a few days 🥳, and I don't even have the money for that! By the time I've paid for that there will be no more watches for a while.

    This one is a chimera. A number of functions but it looks as if it might not do anything well.

    Nice watch, but they really messed up with the 18mm lug width. Look how thick those lugs are, they could have easily made it 20 and it wouldn't have changed the look.

    Power meters are daft. If they have to be there, they should be invisible and symmetrical. Make the indicator at 12 or 6 grade down in colour or something.

    A nice midnight watch review before bed. A very unique watch, love the chunk but that is a cheap looking strap

      Jody isn’t kidding about the strap smell. Mine smells like vanilla.
