      Trump Tower:
"The construction process had several controversies, including Trump suing a contractor for "total incompetence" and an argument with Mayor Koch about getting a tax exemption for the tower. He was also sued for using unpaid, undocumented Polish laborers. Trump claimed he had known nothing about the workers. There have also been recent controversies about a use of concrete possibly connected to organized crime and claims that female executives were denied entry into the site because of their gender."
The Trump Building at 40 Wall Street:
"Trump purchased the property in 1995 and spent more than $200M in renovations. He attempted to sell the building for more than $300M in 2003, but received no offers. He has asserted that he purchased the building for only $1M but has given various values for the current worth. There's currently a $50M outstanding mortgage on the property.
      "
      Rollman Rink:
"The developer Donald J. Trump will rebuild the Wollman Memorial Skating Rink in Central Park at the city's expense under an agreement announced yesterday by Mayor Koch."
"Mr. Trump had originally offered to rebuild the rink at his own expense if the city would let him operate it and an adjacent restaurant and use the profits to recoup his costs. But the agreement does not give Mr. Trump any claim on the operation of the rink or the restaurant."
      Empire State Building:
"Trump Empire State Partners-a JV of The Donald and Japanese billionaire Hideki Yokoi-bought the building in 1994 for $42M. Trump spent $70M in capital improvements on the ESB before selling it to Malkin in 2002 for $57.5M.

So, he broke the law, cheated workers, lost millions of dollars, and contracted work on a public property that he doesn't own or control.

If a subcontractor is not paid the file a LIEN. it costs $400 to $500, and the building cannot lease space until all legitimate liens are negotiated. Why did these unpaid subcontractors not lien the building? If a subcontractor does not pay his employees, that's not the owner's fault.

I keep seeing TH-cam ads from a woman who claims she made a fortune from selling merchandise online and now can spend more time with her kids. Selling online might be easier then the traditional method of starting a store and selling in person, but it also means there is WAY more competition.
I also remember my parents getting involved with something that was like, you can start a business coaching other people in starting a business, and I feel like that is the same scam. They did not do it for very long, to my memory, and I do wonder how much money they lost. My main memory was helping them envelope all these letters they sent out trying to get clients.

Thank you for talking about this. My ex-wife spent thousands of dollars on scams, including the house flipping one. She would get videos/DVD's and never watch them...or even try. Several years ago there was an all day event in Minneapolis billed as sales training from famous training experts (the headliner was Donald Trump, all he did was talk about how beautiful the bikini clad women who escorted him on stage were and how great he is). Basically the day was a parade of scam artists selling their get rich quick schemes. People were lining up, with 3 or 4 credit cards in hand, spending thousands. I was disgusted. I am sure none of them made a penny, except of course the con men (and one woman).

Yea, the trend of TH-cam to just allow copyright notices to take down videos without a method to restore them from a manual review by an attorney might be opening them up to a class action lawsuit in the future.

@@m0L3ify Even if you trademark something, it's about the font, embellishments, and color, but not the words. And they're hard to defend, it's why Disney is so sue happy.

    • @m0L3ify
      @m0L3ify 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ifeeltiredsleepy No, it can be just the words themselves, but it has to be used for business purposes. It can't be for personal use. I honestly don't remember the details of this video enough to know if I was correct or not about the name usage, but it technically doesn't have to have colors and fonts to be a trademark. Yes, Disney is sue-happy, but...that's Disney for you.

There is a big debate just gaining momentum in Australia about false claims made via social media and that as social media companies derive income and benefit from these false claims, they are complicit in the false claim. Basically they have a motive of financial gain so it is easier to class them as criminally complicit.

I don’t know enough about the alibaba amazon thing to know if it a scam. From the customer point of view it is all about the wait time. If I see something on your store buy it then have to wait like 2 months to get it. Then it is a trash service that should not be taught by the “gurus”.

8:23 It's not TH-cam's job to determine copyright violations - only the courts can determine that. Ask any copyright lawyer and they'll tell you there's no hard, fast rules for determining when an infringement has happened. A lawyer can take a case to copyright court firmly believing in the solidity of his case, and the court rules otherwise. About all that can be said outside of court is that IN GENERAL certain categories of speech are protected against copyright infringement. Looking to TH-cam (or any other company) to make copyright infringement decisions is looking in the wrong direction.

No one sells information which will make them a lot of money.

He could probably trade mark the name, but not copyright it. But I think that would only cover it in written form. I know the WWE does that with wrestlers names which are often very normal sounding names. They "own" the names in order to stop wrestlers using them elsewhere. I think it's only for commercial purposes, they could still use the names on social media, etc.
