What a class act to see Dick Van Dyke. He put in such good words. He hasn't lost anything in his mind. I always had a crush on him when I was a kid and even now even though he is almost 30 years older. What a guy. Wish there were more people like Mary and Dick. A great couple. He said it right on.

MTM and DVD----they showed how it was possible to be a success in the entertainment field and not be turned into egocentric, "me-and-my-career-are-all-that-matters" stereotypes. They were classy and down to earth at the same time---not an easy feat in show biz.

I thought MTM was more beautiful than truly funny. Her show had humor, because she was the pretty woman surrounded by all these strange characters. That was the magic to the formula.

"Nobody knew she could sing and dance." WHAT??? If Carl and producers Danny Thomas and Sheldon Leonard had done their homework, which I'm sure they did on her before hiring her, they knew she was "Happy Hotpoint" a pixie dancing character on commercials for "The Ozzie and Harriet Show" from 1954, when she was 17. The error on the video at 2:15 said she was 23. She was 24 on Dec. 29, 1960, although hired just before that at 23. The pilot was filmed on Jan. 20, 1961, aired on Oct. 3.

She was in a musical version of Breakfast at Tiffany's which lasted about a week. If you watch her TV show, the credits include no names until after the episode is over. She had no imput as writer, director or even actor.

MTM appeared to be a wonderful person, however she and her husband abandoned their teen aged son to pursue their careers in Hollywood. He was left alone at a very young age and turned to drugs and eventually killed himself. Celebrities are fake. They are very selfish. Even MTM. What a horrible mother. Who would do that?
