One year after Wearing the Nike Air Vapormax
Has it really been over 1 year since the Nike Air Vapormax has came out? The concept of walking on air really became a reality in this sneaker but was it worth the wait? So many things can be said about the Vapormax, both positive and negative so lets review the pros and cons
Here are some questions you had about the vapormax
Did they break in and get more comfortable? Not really for me, but they stayed the same and didnt feel like they bottomed out like some other foam cushioning can.
Worth the $190? only if you can afford $190, but they were more durable that I expected, very good build quality.
Are there REALLY only for running now? I say NO. your thoughts?
How do they fit? I like to go up .5 when I can.

Held up real well.
Likes: comfort is nice and consistent, won’t thin out like a foam. Flyknit upper has been good since the start
Dislikes: the squeaking noise never went away and it is extremely annoying. Can be a bit unstable sometimes

I do have a wider than average foot so the material did stretch and isn’t as tight as it use to be. And the squeaking is still there even after 2 years of wear. But they’re still very comfortable and and upper is still in one piece even tho it’s very thin and breathable material
We havent seen any huge deep discounts on the flagship Nike Air model too much yet, but I expect we will see some price drops soon as the colorways and models keep releasing and many dont sell out.

Unique looking. Cross between a soccer cleat, and a track shoe.

Squeaky on some floors, im sticking to that… some didn’t agree, but the squeak is loud for me

Conclusion?
This model people love or hate (unless its an off-white version, then they LOVE IT lol) but the reality is this sneaker made for performance is usually not the top contender for those looking for the perfect running shoe, this novelty of walking on air has been consumed mainly by lifestyle and for a good reason, we all love the idea of walking on air! I think the Vapormax is a step in the right direction however I feel like the comfort and awkward segmented transition while walking takes some getting used to. That said, i like the innovation and do not regret being one of the early adopters of the Vapormax.

If you step on a nail it can pop it, my friend stepped on one, they aren’t as tough as they look. I don’t know why they won’t Add Kevlar to the bottom.

I have five of them..
I literally still wash and wear my Flyknit Vapormax shoes. It's 2022, and they STILL are holding! They are starting to fade. Just received the Vapormax 3 Sunset colored ones. They do squeak, but will know better once I start wearing them. They run small. I wish they still sold the all black Anthracites!!!! They look COLD!!
I used to like my vapormax, well actually my stepdad’s because I stole his pair. Lol but I noticed that every time I wear them my feet hurts like hell unlike my other shoes even compared to my chunky Fila disruptor. I bought the Wildhorse a few weeks after and though I’m not a fan of the upper material those are great for long walks. Vapormax’ design is just so cool I might get another one soon.

My mom works for Nike in the Air facility, and she says that when she makes these, there’s a machine that squeezes the air bubble all the way down. If it pops then they make a new batch, if it doesn’t then they transfer it to the next facility.

I have 3 pairs of vapormax because I like em so much, but the squeak is definitely annoying and prominent on all 3 pairs. Also, running down the stairs with them are scary AF lol.

I'm 200 pounds also and I put 110 miles on mine before they leaked air. However mine had 3 times the sole wear with just 110 miles

My experience (I have 3 pairs but I’ve worn the triple black since they dropped), GREAT! A fun shoe to wear. Durability has been fantastic and no bubble pops even though I wear them everyday for work. The squeaking went away for me after about 2 wears (unless it’s raining outside.)
I honestly have 0 complaints. The reason they sit is just the fact there’s so many other options at better price points. That’s not a bad thing either, competition is good :-) I do hope that whenever version 3 releases they can up the ante of the design. 2.0 seemed to be a step backwards visually and maybe drop the price to $170

Ruben Huurdeman Hmm I’m not sure. I would think to go up half a size maybe if you have a wide foot. I went true to size and it gives me the sock like feel with a little room at the toe box.
Honestly I would just go try some on at your local shoe store. There’s plenty of Vapors available. BUT if you want something close (IMO BETTER) than UB then I would look at the Nike Pegasus Turbo’s. The comfort is out this world and $10 cheaper than Vapors. I like both for different reasons tho ;-)

There's a difference wearing this Vapormax 365 days a year, or 3 times a year...

The squeak only happens if you walk in certain types of surface. The only issue I have with this shoe after a year is the stability of it, overall still a fantastic shoe.
I find walking on that old fiber tile floor that they wax does, the squeaking. You know, the old square speckled tile? Old departmentstores, older hospitals, etc?
They can be slippery after a rain too.
Exactly. Also it is very easy to roll the heel with it, so caution is needed.
I love Vapormax's! Triple black is the way to go. Nothing looks as dope as the flyknit triple blacks!

To fix squeaking, just put baby powder between the insole and the bottom of the shoe. Just cover the whole of the bottom of the insole well.

Today is was one year ago since I got my first pair of vapermax and I still wear them a lot also I liked them so much I bought a second pair
Ended up winning a pair of vapormax flyknit nikeid custom usa country edition off ebay in an auction for $88 with free shipping, an authentic pair and I must say these are extremely comfortable. I don't experience any squeaking either.
i owned one until i grew out of that size, it was an amazing shoe, durable, stylish, etc, but some cons i had were that it was so unusual on the bottom and like hes said its awkward walking down the stairs, also the biggest con for me is how unresponsive and unstable it was

The vapormaxes aren’t meant to cave in like that on the heel, you have just popped the heel so air de-enflates when u put weight on it and it re inflates when u take pressure off it

I love the vapor max plus and the Pegasus turbo with the zoom x. They are the most comfortable shoes right now. As a footlocker employee the vapormax have been a better seller than ultraboost and the vapormax dont go on sale compared to ultraboost

Driving is kinda weird, I won't lie. I often get caught on the gas and brake at the same time, still haven't figured it why they're not that wide
I've been wearing mine for about 2 years now as an everyday shoe, no squeaking issue, no instability, they're the most comfy shoes I've ever worn (most of my other Nikes are basically just on display because they can't compare). Also no popping of the bubble whereas two of the four Air Max 360 I've worn over the years had popped bubbles after 1-2 years.
Only now did I rip the front with my toenail so I have to replace them, will get another pair of these for sure.

I'll stick with my airmax 2015. Full bubble, flywire, nice mesh, perfect traction and NO SQUEAK. I'll be damned if I pay $200+ for a shoe that squeaks and sounds like a condom being put on.

These went for 210€ here in the EU. I had the 2019’s in anthracite grey with the gold soles with flakes in them.

But they popped after 3 months, it was my first pair of Airmax shoes, so I bought another pair. The white ones with the russet orange pulltab and swoosh.
Really great shoes, sexy as hell. But they died after 6 months...

My ACG’s hold up well, they have air as well, but a thick rubber outsole to protect them too. Now got a Pair of 350 Boosts in the taillight colorway. I’ll see how they hold up.. Its my first pair of Yeezy’s. I’m really curious.
I find it sad that these Vapormaxes died so easily on me, especially bcs with the second pair there was no hole.. when dunked into water there were no bubbles, nor water ingress in the air unit. Nor a audible sound when compressed. But they did lose pressure...
Nike told me they were ‘too old’ and I could not claim my warranty. After 6 months? Really? A pair of undamaged shoes in tip top condition?
After spending 420€ It will take a while for me to buy another pair of Airmaxes, the 2020 ones are ugly as hell anyway, And I’m no big fan of the flynit material. But I really like the concept. And look of the air unit. Its something special, people look at it twice when they see these shoes. They felt good, construction was nice, the translucent ripstop stuff on top was good as well. But these Air units should be more durable.
Another reason why I refrained from buying the Air Max 720’s ISPA, A really cool shoe, but splashing another 220€ on shoes that might die on me after a few months? Nah.
Wow 6 months! You should persist with your claim for either replacement or refund. Threaten with small claim court using - be nice of course, write a letter etc
