  • TP Link Deco M4 Review. This is a quick review of the TP-Link Deco M4 Whole Home Mesh Wifi System. This is a 3-pack of mesh wireless routers that cost on $180. This might just be the best bang for your buck when it comes to mesh wireless systems.

I know nothing, and just finished setting it up. It is easy, just need to be patient with the led lights to do their thing. My wife was getting around 10-15 Mbps in her study at the end of the hall. I put one in her study and now getting around 180 Mbps. So far, so good. .... Thanks, and be well!

This system is fantastic. I use 5 Decos in a 3500 sq ft home with a 2 car attached garage and a 4 car detached garage. It covers everything and gives me great speeds. Worth the money. Great review!

These things are amazing. Especially for gamers. You can set QoS with a few phone swipes and it works fantastic. I was really blown away by these.

Thanks man. I was looking into this system, and found a 2 unit system at walmart right at my price point. I appreciate the review, and this increases my confidence this may be a good choice. I'm currently using a wifi repeater and it's garbage. These speeds look very hopeful for me, especially considering I'm getting 20 mbps down now.

That’s a good idea you have about units having separate SSID for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz, hope they can issue an update which would add this functionality, and like you, after several hours I also had no luck connecting these units together with Ethernet cables, very frustrating indeed. Just one point, I’m in the U.K. and I’m finding I don’t get as much coverage as you guys in the USA, perhaps I have some interference issues, perhaps it’s because my house is a stone/brick build and I think you guys have predominantly timber frame construction , but I find I need 2 units on each floor to get full coverage and then my results are more akin to yours. Thanks for the upload !

Great video and thanks for sharing. I live in a rural part of France and envy your high speeds. I miss my direct fiber connection in the US. Thanks to your review, I just ordered this system as my Huawei cellular router is not strong enough for my house. I’ll receive the system in a few days and use your recommendations to set it up.
Thanks again for the great video.

Nice video. They must have fixed the backhaul problem since the video was made. Was very simple here as I just connected the two units via an ethernet cable and they were linked. You can see an "s" shaped wire in between the two units in the App vs the wifi arcs. Lovin the units as they work very well.

I upgrade from a Archer ac1900 and just bought the Deco M4 (3 pack) from Samsclub for $130 plus $15 for 3 year warranty. I'm not very techie but not a novice either and setting was straight forward per instructions. I have all three router up and running less than 30 minutes. I have 2400 sq ft home and this mesh system cover very well currently with no dead spot. My provider is at 150mbps ISP connection and I'm getting 135 to 140mbps with wired to my pc and my iphone x is getting around 50mbps to 80mbps wireless wifi depending on the location I'm at in the house. TBH, 50mbps is more than enough to run anything up to 20 connected devices with no lags in the house because I use to have that speed constantly with my Archer ac1900 and experience no problems. When my extended family visit and I have over 30+ device connected, I have no issues with the Archer ac1900 also for over 6 years. So all in all, this Deco M4 is an upgrade and it is over kill in speed for normal home use. The best part is tplink give a 2 year warranty and I bought an extra 3 year totaling 5 years of warranty from square trade. It should pay for itself in 5 year and I will upgrade to AX at that time.

I had been looking into a Mesh system but don't want to spend the $300+ for one of those other "popular" systems. And now with Covid and working from home, I would like to spend these nicer days out on the back deck and work. This looks like it just might be the thing! I just wish you were able to get the Ethernet Backhaul to work though....

Does Deco M4 has WISP mode or something like WISP mode?
(WISP router mode is simply a mode where your wireless adapter acts as both client and WAN port. In another words, you get to connect to another wireless network, use only one IP address they assign to you (and route internet (or whatever) to it), and route traffic to your local (home/private) network - NAT.?

Sorry to ask but how good is this? I own a 130mb fiber connection which by using a regular TP-Link AC750 Universal Dual Band Range Extender gets around 30-50 Mbps to the Living Room. The distance of the Living Room from the VM Router is roughly 9-13m. I see two other cons. #1. Size, compared to Google Home Wi-Fi those nodes are huge at 8" tall. #2. The location of the indicator light being on top. Again compared to Google where the indicator light can easily be seen from across the room or without getting up. It so easy from your seat to be able to see you are still connected or not. And I have never been disconnected. I've had my Google a little over a year now and it's been worth every penny. But hey...it's Google!

Actually i switched my mesh wifi a month ago from deco and changed it to linksys velop. My main reasons are the durability and the tech support. Deco is cheap compared to order brands that's why i brought it. But after a month of using this, it auto restart without any reason. The support hotline of deco is USELESSSSSSS. Never fooled because of the price.
