hey man i just wanted to thank you because when i started trying to make bows these videos really kept me going and now i just finished my first one and im giving it to my teacher. thanks dude.
Glad to hear it! Congrats, the first is always special
@@DanSantanaBows sounds like their teacher should be thanking you too lol

I bet those arrows fly better than store bought ones.
I'll take that bet.
No chance, arrows with hours of research, development and testing vs ones made from a log. Don't get me wrong the craftsmanship is awesome but there's a reason we don't use hand made wooden arrows anymore
@@mulletsmayhem492 because gun go boom
@@mulletsmayhem492 because the cost amount is high ? its not that carbon fiber arrows are better or worse its just cheaper to preduce
Nah cf arrows are auto balanced by a machine with zero human error
I used to make my own arrows. I made about hundred of them, by the time you weigh them and spine them you might get two dozen out of a 100 shaft's. I found out later it's just cheaper to buy them with correct spine and weight.
... same thought... 😢
That's what I just said.😂😂😂
This is more fun and gives a sense of accomplishment. I mean would you be happier successfully hunting something with a store bought bow and arrows or handcrafted ones?
@@gideonhawk Yes' I made my own arrows to hunt with plus my own turkey feathers. It is fun to make and a lost art to regain back!
Really I got logs for the fire place for 250 it depends on your process
"Wow!!!" 😳
Never thought about, how much work it is, to build one arrow.
Thank you for teaching me.
About 4 seconds in was the sickest beat I’ve ever heard
That's skill right there!! 👍
Just goes to show you how much work goes into arrows. Having made and fletched my own shafts in the past, its not easy to get right.
I need them for my Robin hood days again, thank you
Keep the great work up ❤
Thank you!
I love the sound of flying arrows.
I thought he was gonna use a dowel cutter but he just freehanded it absolutely amazing
Amazing skills brother, imagine how the American Indians must have had to do this?!?!? Support indigenous peoples and their heritage.
And they made their points from stone, another very hard skill to master
River cane or shoot shafts were used alot in the southeast US
Intrigued by the wide blade on that first drawknife you're using.
The sweep in the middle is a fuller its forged or ground for a wider better cutting blade
archery is my favourite sport respect for your arrows brother
That sound of the arrow hitting the target pumped me with serotonin
As a child I taught myself to make bows and arrows..... that was 60 years ago just as artificial materials took over....regret not continuing even as a hobby.....
I like the sound of the arrows... pretty cool man.
Aaahh garoto! Ótimo vídeo! Parabéns!
They sure sound great when they fly through the air and hit.
That's impressive good sir
Looks like an intro to a Green Arrow movie
This is somthing worth to watch!
Impressive!!
Excellent!
Pretty cool, that's good work man!
Good work and nice method, Dan.
Fantastic!! Just bought a load of hand tools to start some hand wood working for a hobby! Think I might have to give this a crack at some point (once I've honed some skills!) Lol 😂
Great job! Brings out the inner caveman in me watching stuff like this! 👍😎🏴🇬🇧
Wish I had the time and patience to do that. Love shooting my compound bow and recurve bow
Need to find someone who can take all those wonderful woodworking noises and remix them into a nice beat.
Myth Busters some years ago tried to duplicate the Robin Hood feat of perfectly splitting an arrow in a target with another arrow. Though shot (past tense of “shoot”) at close range by an air device, not a bow, and striking the nock of the target arrow, the split never happened. The grain of the target arrow always caused a partial split due to the arrow being made by splitting or sawing, whittling, or doweling - the modern way or the quick way for medieval armies. Traditionally, arrows were made from nature’s dowels: the “shoots” of Spring tree growth, river cane, or bamboo, which by drying in bundles, heating, and straightening, became good enough to “shoot”. These arrow types will actually split according the RH legend.
Fabulous skills and patience
Terrific dedication! ✌️👍🇬🇧
Beautiful craft man❤❤❤
Nice work
That's badass.
Finally some good quality content.
I’ve been scrolling forced to wade through cringey tik tok dances to find this Diamond.
See my long form content for the real stuff. It’s hard to teach much in a minute
Those came out way better than mine years ago 😂 I want to make a new PVC bow and some arrows soon
That sound!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥

Would highly recommend making a reinforced nock while you are at it. Historically, it was fairly common to use goat or cow horn for that purpose, just like you would reinforce the tips on the limbs of your bow. Or, even more commonly, tie some string tightly around that end so the grains don't split.
That’s always a good idea but I find i don’t need them with hardwood shafts shot from mid weight bows, as long as the string is the correct size for the nock
@@DanSantanaBows makes sense. Excellent craftsmanship either way, friendo! 👍
Amazing😍😍😍
I plan on making some nice long bolts for my crossbow for deer hunting in 2024. I've got some stainless steel at home too so I'll be making my own killer broad heads. I might even get some illuminated nochs and epoxy them into the aluminum shafts. Many years ago I made wooden arrows. I don't have that much time these days to do that again though so aluminum it is.
Superb job 👌
Very good work
Nice!
Top tier asmr👌
Awesome skills
Cool makes me think of light chariot for some reason
I love to see the amount of work that goes into arrows, but man are they expensive. Its an average of like 80 dollars for six wooden arrows everywhere i look.
Amazing.
Perfect 👌
Ottimo video❤
I had always imagined they were turned.
That's some dedicated stick throwing🤪
I’ve attempted this. Then realized you can buy poplar or red oak dowels for less than $2 from the store and get to pick out the ones you like best. But impressive nonetheless
i like have one of those...... very nice arrows
Wow I Need that bow
Nice job, Now add a horn wedge cross noc so the shaft doesn’t split in half from the string.
Good idea but it’s not necessary for mid weight bows with well fitted strings
Nice movie sounds
Those shots have a nice sound to them.
What range were you firing, and poundage?
Impressive
Two long srips of wood with 45° cuts olong their lengh facing inwards to make a dimond shape platorm to shave the arrows to shape will make precision much easier, especially with a small 1 handed plane.
As explained in the video a shooting board is the usual way to do it but I prefer freehand carving and wanted to demonstrate how to do it without any jigs
Wow . Awesome. What kind of wood is that💪🤠
Ash. See the full tutorial version of the video for all the details
Is that Ash you're using?
Thanks, love the channel!
👍👍
yep! See the full form video for more
Look up Richard Head Longbows to see how to do this like a champion if you like this sort of stuff.
"Message for you, Sir."
I’d love to buy
What distance are you shooting from though?
Show de bola
If you cut an 8th inch slit perpendicular to your nknock and slip in cow horn or something similar it will reinforce the knock and keep them from splitting
I don’t find it necessary for hardwood shafts with mid weight bows and properly matched strings

👏🏽👍🏾👍🏾
It’s like making a toothpick from a big tree. You could have made at least 2 arrows from that wood ?
Is there something I don’t understand about it
That chunk was oversized but there’s no way it was big enough to split into two. If you saw out your shafts you can use the wood more economically but then you lose the strength advantage of riven shafts.
See the full video for details
👍
Is that Ash your using?
They should add a adze to the forest 2 and be able to make better quality arrows and what not that do more damage then the bad crafted stick ones it could just as good as the 3D printed ones but easier to get
Gorgeous! I make sometimes arrows with long about 80 centimeters and nine 9 millimeters of perimeter, that's right? Thanks! 😁😈
Try an obsidion arow head one hehe
It takes a fraction of a second to destroy an arrow, and then every arrow flies different.
God damn. Even without the mic your be able to hear that
What is this vice that your using called ?
Aku menyebutnya tampan dan pemberani
What wood did you use or recommend?
See the full video. These are ash but any hardwood works for this style. Many softwoods are also decent arrow woods
That's impressive but there not that expensive when you buy them in bulk just saying.
“How to make an arrow. Step 1: buy in bulk 😂”
it's nice craftsmanship, but how many arrows you have to make, so they have a matching spine...
they’re all exactly 500 grains. I just spine match by hand and they’re all close enough
I would think it wood be easier if you use a sapling right so you don't have to Carve for so long I use cottonwood or dog wood but i wunder you have probably already done both but do the arrows from a log shoot better or its just easy to make them the exact weight you want or is it just personal preference?? But all in all some nice arrows and i think i will try making arrows like that
those are called shoot shafts. They work perfectly fine. They’re easier to carve but I spend more time
straightening them
How do you avoid that the arrow is just splitting in half when you shoot it?
If it splits make the nock thicker and stronger next time. You can of course wrap the nock but if it’s the right size to begin with it’s not necessary, especially for mid weight bows
What kind of wood are you using? What type of fletchings are those? Are they real feathers?
See the full tutorial. They’re ash fletched with goose
@@DanSantanaBows yes, thank you 🤓
Hello brother I was wondering where did you get such a well .ade draw knife.
Flea market. See my video on drawknives for details and recommendations
Are hollow arrows a thing, no I think it would snap.
Absolutely, think bamboo. Modern fiberglass and carbon fiber arrows are hollow
Yooo what bow is that you’re using?😅
It’s a hollow limb recurve i made from a hickory sapling
