This video reminded me that when I was little (from 9 to 12 years old) I began to really like everything medieval, especially bows, and in a camp that I went to every year, there was bamboo and the idea of making a bow crossed my mind, I spent a week thinking about how, in the end, I deduced many of the things in this video on my own (since I couldn't ask for help because I did it in secret) and that's how I made my first bow with which I spent my time shooting sticks into the water XD, it was great
it may have been very rudimentary and primitive and much worse than the one in the video but still I can't help but feel a little proud to have done it on my own

not gonna lie i didn't think this would work that well, Ive seen videos of homemade bow from wood and they underperform, but I was very surprised how well this shot for a very simplistic material, and quite accurate too!
So was I. The only thing I'd do differently is wrapping that handle a little better.

Gonna plant some bamboo this spring. So many uses for it.
Keep it contained - it spreads like crazy. Someone made a planter with concrete retaining wall blocks built into and existing block retaining wall where I live. Bamboo is starting to work its way between blocks and dislodge them. Plastic sheeting isn't enough - they recommend concrete or metal, at least 2 ft. deep and 6 in. above soil.
However, if you put in the time, money, and effort to grow it responsibly, it forms a thick, effective, privacy and sound barrier that grows quickly. The parts you remove when thinning do have a lot of uses.

Beautiful bow, I'll do it later, only try to get larger feathers if you want that they do more than decoration and I know that it actually works but you can use spoons to get real and easy arrowheads

Best to use feathers of the same side (aka right side and another feather's right side to help with the spinning of the arrow when it flies.

Lo que puedes hacer para que te quede un arco es calentar el banbu por 24 horas y lo dobladas fácilmente y lo mantendrás así y al enfriarse se quedara así curvo

@@josecast919 el pendejo nunca explica nada más q lo q muestra, hay muchas cosas q debería explicar porque muchos somos novatos en esto y eso q aparentemente se ve fácil de hacer, se complica y lo digo por experiencia porque he hecho este arco y otro q el mismo enseña en otro video donde se cogen varias cañas de bambú de distinta longitud y se atan, pero ahí tampoco explica en más detalle y en resumen yo q hice ambos arcos, sufrí demasiado en especial el que es compuesto por distintas ramas de bambú, me quedo tan fuerte que casi no logro doblarlo, además no dice cómo enfrentar los nudos q tiene el bambú q complican mucho las cosas, tampoco recomienda q usen fibras naturales o alguna artificial q de un buen amarre ya q no todas las fibras sirven… en mi caso use para los amarres (en el caso del arco de varias ramas) una fibra q al amarrarla, se soltaba al poco tiempo, luego usé otra fibra más gruesa y esa si me dio unos amarres casi que perfectos q no se sueltan…. Mi consejo para q no les suceda lo q a mi es q usen buenas fibras que no se deshilachen, aprendan a hacer bien las muescas a los extremos y líjenle los filos para q no afecte la cuerda q tensara el arco al final; escojan diámetros de bambú que vean q pueden doblar sin tanto problema (el doblez fue lo q me quitó más horas de tiempo porque escogí ramas no tan delgadas), para las flechas enderezcanlas calentándole los nudos con una vela o algo similar para luego con presión ir dando rectitud, usen pistola de silicona o pegamento en caliente para emplumar con cinta y cartulina q así les queda mejor…..

I think The rope I used to string the bow is paracord
Paracord is good, but nothing to actual good bow string, Dacron, fast flight, etc etc
