As someone that grew up in the same era as Tony, looked up to Tony as an inspiration, competed against him and knew Tony, this is by far the best interview I have listened too with him. The interviewer did an excellent job digging deeper into his internal drive , why skateboarding appealed to him and fostered his internal drive in discovering the process of self discipline, commitment, willingness to put in the work to be who he wanted to be. He revealed that he in the moment evolved to appreciate the process as a means of achieving his best version of himself within skateboarding. These things are Universal truths amongst those that succeed at anything they do. Kudos, truly an excellent interview.

What a great ambassador for our lifestyle/ sport. If people only knew the amount of pain and persistence it really takes. He is humble and true.

I love rock because of Tony Hawk's choices in his game. I remember playing with my sister and we banging our heads to Ramones in that foundry scenario.

Skating could not have hoped for a better ambassador than Tony. The guy lives and breathes skateboarding, and whether you agree with his opinions or not, skating is in a better place today because of him. I've looked up to him ever since I was a kid, and think the biggest takeaway is that you should do what you love, regardless of what other people think or say. We need more people like Tony in this world.

00:57 I was in the refugee camp in Thailand at the age of 7 in 1978. I came to New York City, USA in 1980. In 1985 I was living in Clovis, New Mexico and watch the movie "Back to the future". I saw skateboarding in that movie and I started skateboarding in 1985 at 14 years old. Tony Hawk loves all skateboarding. That is a true skateboarder. Thank you.

Skateboarding is not a sport. Of course Tony changed the trajectory and popularity later on but he was an outcast in the 80's and early 90's. Been skating for over 40 years and watched him become the legend he deserves to be. Don't need to skate to appreciate his talent and dedication. Do what you love and have a passion for, don't need accolades or approval. He knew in his heart as a kid, wise move. Feasters, the 1st birdhouse vid is sick btw. Willy and the rest of the team ripped.

I can think of many skaters too, however one thing that nobody can change is that Tony Hawk is the world's ambassador for Skateboarding. He has been for over 2 decades. If you notice they've chosen people from many different areas of life so they are going with someone everyone has heard of. Also this isn't a skate video. Quit crying about things you didn't even bother with.
