i think people would really love to see small sessions with the guest afterwards in your park. Something light to wrap up the interview and end on a fun note!
One of my biggest inspirations as far as maintaining sobriety. Looked up to him as a teen skate rat and came back around to discovering that he was sober, when I was in the worst phase of my abuse. 8 months in and its just great to see him thriving and honestly, I feel the best I have ever felt in my life. AA is a huge help as well.
Tony, Jason ... You 2 were my idols back when I skated between 2000 and 2015 and discovering this pod cast in my 30s got my fishing out my dusty Santa Cruz bamboo deck and got back in the skate park I haven't been in for 10 years and loving life again love you guys!!!
this episode is so good. it's rare to hear 3 really good skaters speaking about skateboarding in such exact terms with such enthusiasm. so many great skaters either can't put it into words or are too cool to geek out about it. this is almost like having 3 hosts. it's wild
I love that Andrew gave props to Ocean Howell and Kris Markovich, i had the Santa Cruz vid "risk it- gambling with gravity" . I loved Ocean's part in it and still one of my favorite videos from that Era that doesn't get enough love. I had the gator pattern Vision shorts even, 😅😅
Having a rough day and this made me legitimately happy. Andrew is my all time favorite and he should definitely talk more. Some great inspirational quotes from him in this episode.
Get Willy on the show! I remember watching his trick tips when the internet just started up, way back in the day. His website had a list of tricks, which were like 5 second, pixelated videos of him doing the trick (and it took forever to load them lmao).
Willy is the best! I interviewed him in a over bee down in Tampa for my show. Not intentionally trying to promo my show, but this was the first comment I saw when I was watching this episode so I had to mention it lol
The Passion we all skaters have in our memories is priceless! I’m 50 now 5 spine surgeries deep and down to just rolling on a carver yet my most vivid memories are skatin with the homies all hours of the day! So special. Once a skater always a skater!
Andrew Reynolds is such a beast! This was a good episode! Also, congrats on 100 episodes, Tony! And I hope you and your sister had a good time celebrating you dad's 100th birthday!
Dude, I loved Andrew Reynolds forever. This was an awesome surprise to see today. Congrats on the 100 episodes! Keep it up! I wish he wasn't against doing more because I'd love to hear more stories from you guys!
Andrew Reynolds in This is Skateboarding was the best part ever! Miss that time a lot. Not skating anymore… Maybe buy a board and start again with my kids..?
Drew talking about addiction is very great. Im going through my bout with weed and tobacco. This podcast was one of a few things that have pushed me in the right direction in past weeks. Its inspiring to hear someone as accomplished as him going through a similar struggle in order to become great. Skating and drugs especially smoking is very common and difficult to avoid, and its bad when you see so many pros like tom penny or B Herman who smoke a ton but can do what they do, its another excuse you can use to continue. "Im not so bad, they smoke more than me" or " they do it and theyre fine so can i" it makes you feel like you cant hang or something if you quit. Its like uncool to yourself to be square. Weed can become a big crutch for your imagination and sense of well being. Without it you feel like you cant achieve that sense. Drew is the best. Hes the boss. And he doesnt do it. Really puts your priorities into perspective
This was a great one. Andrew was a massive influence on me when I started skating, all I wanted as a kid was to be able to do massive gaps with just a hint of the style and confidence that he did. It would be awesome to bring Willy or Jeremy Klein on, I love hearing stories about the early Birdhouse days.
This could have been 3 hours and I would have rewatched it. Thanks so much for having Andrew on. I would love to hear another conversation like this from you guys again but for now I am grateful that you did this one.

relax!? is that what it means to give Into the money from one of the evil shoe companies? dude I swear to God if Nike made full completes..... even more core skate brands would go under. they would eventually put DLX SF outta business or some shit.
@@eatassonthefirstdate sorry dude I agree on what you're saying but there's no money in other brands.. drew probably even has insurance through them.. these other companies cannot provide, so riders look else wear.. early 2000s skateboarding has long passed. We need to live and pay bills..I love the core brands but unfortunately the quality is going down severely and isn't worth the price tag.
@@McFlurryMachineIsDown bro, baker alone is big enough that him and all his employees PROBLY got insurance thru them. family plans thru Aetna, Kaiser, and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue shield are like a little over a thousand a month. any pro skater can afford that. a pro could afford 2000 a month lol especially with all the sponsorship deals that come today. to pretend that without Nike, NB, Red Bull etc that skaters can't have insurance is a crock of shit. this is what Nike predicted 20+ years ago when they started making SB Dunks and then when they bought Converse. and thanks to ppl just nodding their head and going along with that narrative, soon core brands won't even exist. and talking Abt quality, any board company can work with Prof. Schmitt and have good decks produced. eS and the rest of sole tech BEEN making great shoes, along with the likes of Globe, DVS and even all the way back to Duffs, Nice, Reef, Simple and other 90s sk8 shoe brands. lol and into the 80s before me with vans half cabs, Vision hi tops and Airwalk Prototypes. I wouldn't care if they offered me n my entire family free shoes every month and a 50,000 dollar pay every year, I wouldn't sign with NB the ppl who make grandpa shoes 🤣 I've seen it all since back in the mid 90s bro. them big companies just write big checks and ruin core brands, That's it. when DLXSF and NHS wind up bought by Nike, THATS when u know that skating is done as we know it. soon there will be Nike Decks n Wheels, good FCKING god. and I'm afraid that'll happen soon.

is that what it means to give Into the money from one of the evil shoe companies?
dude I swear to God if Nike made full completes..... even more core skate brands would go under.
they would eventually put DLX SF outta business or some shit.
I wouldn't care if they offered me n my entire family free shoes every month and a 50,000 dollar pay every year, I wouldn't sign with NB the ppl who make grandpa shoes 🤣
I've seen it all since back in the mid 90s bro.
them big companies just write big checks and ruin core brands, That's it.
when DLXSF and NHS wind up bought by Nike, THATS when u know that skating is done as we know it. soon there will be Nike Decks n Wheels, good FCKING god.
and I'm afraid that'll happen soon.
