Film Description: A psychological thriller set in the world of New York City ballet, BLACK SWAN stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a featured dancer who finds herself locked in a web of competitive intrigue with a new rival at the company (Mila Kunis). A Fox Searchlight Pictures release by visionary director Darren Aronofsky (THE WRESTLER), BLACK SWAN takes a thrilling and at times terrifying journey through the psyche of a young ballerina whose starring role as the duplicitous swan queen turns out to be a part for which she becomes frighteningly perfect. BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina (Portman), a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who zealously supports her daughter,s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her. -

Ewww I hate how he called all the dancers his little princesses 😂 He was creepy and abusive
He's literally a predator
Cancel himmmmm
That was brainwashing 😩
That was brainwashing 😩
Was total sick :!
I'd like to know how Winona looks the same age as Natalie
+Sarah Gray she was hotter , winona was very beautiful, still is
Then you should watch a movie called girl interrumpted.
Because she is pretty close to the same age. She's only like 5 or 6 years older.
They are 10 years apart actually
Currently, their apparent age gap has narrowed even more.
what's so perfect about Winona is not only does she crush this role, but if this movie were made in the 90s she would've easily crushed the lead role as well.
Exactly
Facts
I love that they purposely cast Wynona, who certainly looks like Natalie, as a way of playing even more with the notions of duality, identity, obsession, shadow self and doppelgangers.
@@t.e.burgos3263 yes, I suspected the same thing. great casting.
this scene is subtly powerful. you can see on Nina’s face that she’s worried she’s looking into her future in a few years. how she’s valued for the moment but will inevitably be disposed of in the industry
Ryder actually felt bad for the things her character had to say to Portman, and sent her an apology after filming was over!
Why would she feel bad if it's just acting?
@@pink994 that makes sense. Didn't think of it that way.
That's why I love Winona so much. I would've done the same thing if that was me doing a scene like that.
I feel like actors have had to say worse things to other actors while doing what their job is. I can see apologizing after for the most severe of things they might do but for what they do all the time this seems mild and feels like just another day at the office.
Makes sense, I think sometimes actors are so into the character that it becomes hard for them to differentiate between act and reality. Portman has said that many times that this role took a toll on her mental health. Who knows what happened after they finished shooting this scene, maybe Ryder saw Natalie hurt or take ryder's character's words literally. I've seen many theater actors apologize to their co actors many times.
Although, Winona isn't in the film for very long, but she knocks it out of the park. When this film first came out, I remember watching it in the theater and had no idea Winona was in this. Once she appeared on screen, it was like seeing an old childhood friend whom you haven't seen in year's, but was happy to see her. Loved her performance!
Happy to see her back again, especially with the incredible show Stranger Things being a huge success.
Same. I always love her performances.
Same here, she is literally one of my favourite actresses
I finally watched the movie and I am a bit confused. It looks like Beth still CAN dance, she is not too old or injured. They say nobody comes to see her anymore, but at the party, many people seemed sad or surprised. Also if it is the lack of audience it seems to be more of an case of the public losing interest, it is not the company's fault.
Anyway, I was very confused, since she was going to be fired at the END of the season playing the main part in another play. That is actually way nicer than most would act. And when she had the accident, all the other dancers were crying. Looked like the two girls in the beginning were an exception.
I really wanted more scenes. Flashbacks that showed how Beth treated the others, Nina admiring her, the first scene has her yelling at Nina from her single dressing room, I wasn't sure if she even knew her name.
Then when she was still supposed to be there, would she have another small role in Swan Lake? Would they work on the other show? I was also hoping for a scene where Nina and Beth were in the dressing room as the main stars of both shows as it was promised. Instead she has this accident.
Also, Beth is kinda stupid. I mean, she knew this day would come and she had a chance to say goodbye and she blew it, likely injured herself to give her pain while walking, or at least scaring herself on the leg. (I don't think she stabebd her face)
"Winona! You have to help me, I'm turning into a swan!"
"Really. Well stranger things have happened to me..."
Stop. lmao
Why did they cut the best line??
Nurse Grace they did !!
which one?
which one?
It was in the movie.
loool yess
Thomas drove Beth insane with her role just like he eventually did to Nina. Just the fact that he went from calling Beth his "Little Princess" then eventually calls Nina that once she achieves the part shows how easily replaceable everyone was for him. If Nina didn't die he would have eventually replaced her as well with "someone new" just like he did Beth.
Unbelievable actress, very versatile and many seriously dark roles since her early period with the Heather's with Johnny Depp. I wonder what she what she is really like as a person.
Joyce Oxfeld Johnny depp wasn’t in the heathers
You can find her interviews and staff she's really sweet 😘
Thinking of Christian Slater, perhaps?
Winona is the most refreshing actress ever.every scene she is in she does an amazing job
Winona should be given more screen times. She's a fine actress, did extensive homework for the roles and intense delivery throughout her movies. It is so enjoyable to watch her. I watched almost all of her movies, except animations, as I'm not a fan of animation
I mean no offence to Natalie or Mila, but in a room with Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Wynona Ryder, I'd always be on team Wynona!!!
Winona* Haha :)
Winona. Doesn't change the fact she's still legend!!
She's genuine living perfection...
+agenttheater5
Winona would always be near and dear to me. She came first but I also love the other two, plus Keira Knightley. All doe-eyed brunette beauties.
agenttheater5 69 likes... if I become the 70th liked I'll mess it up
Natalie’s makeup is so pretty.
The Strangler it just looks like a smoky eye and pink lips
Winona Is the best... THE best
Omg. Winona's stereotypes are going from "cool and rebel young actress" to "creepy decadent diva" She's going to be like a modern age Bette Davis... 😧
Let's hope Natalie doesn't turn out like that in her 40's
+Canisticus
She would totally love your comment if she read it!
Beth's messy eye makeup made me feel bad for her because she's been crying about her situation.
Winona is so intense!
Winona is awesome!
I have a feeling she's imagining Gwyneth Paltrow in place of Natalie Portman, that's why her acting is so effective!
@Berverly Juliet she saw shakespeare in love script in winona's house and auditioned for the role. she won an oscar. basically she betrayed her but also, it's hollywood.
@@bilgevarol9112 whoa! 🤯
And gwenyth really did svck Harvey weinsteins cxck
Wow Winona plays it so real
Love Winona in this scene. She brought just what this movie needed, her presence! Stellar
i just love Winona‘s voice
Winona's voice never aged
I haven't seen the whole movie yet, but from what I've heard, I'm sad they didn't give Winona more scenes. Also, from I've seen so far, I can actually see her as both Odette and Odile more than I can see Natalie.
natalie is so odile.
they cut out the best part of her lines in this scene
this clip did not the real movie
Short but iconic as always
This role was the first time Winona ever freaked me out! And I mean big time! I was scared shitless! God I love her, have for years!
love you winona ❤
Beth McIntyre should have her own movie: "The Swan Song of Beth McIntyre"
That would be so interesting
Why is it that Winona can act crazy so well? As Beth in black swan and then as Joyce in Stranger Things 😂
because she can act well, period. lol
Winona was very good this movie.her should deserved nomination Best support actrees,
She is always good.
Winona would have been my choice for supporting actress that year.
Natalie Portman always reminded me of Winona Ryder..
Holy cow they look so similar
Winona is superb ❤
I guess in for that particular scene, Wino's motivation was if she imagined Natalie Portman as Gwyneth Paltrow and Vincent Cassel as Harvey Weinstein.
Winona is stunning here ! Wow
Winona is the best! I ❤️ her
More Winona in everything!
Winona had a gamine quality in her early years, the thought of her character being a ballerina in the past is totally believable
God I love this movie so much
Winona was awesome in this film. There just wasn't enough of her though, but I suppose that makes the parts she's in even better.
I love this scene
This comment section:
Winona, Winona, Winona, Winona, Winona, Winona, Winona and, you guessed it...
*Winona*
Why did they cut out such a powerful line??!!
Winona always great actress
Never enough Winona!! I wish she'd been in it more
Haha this is the censored version.
Wynona Ryder just gets sexier with age and crazy.
I finally watched the movie and I am a bit confused. It looks like Beth still CAN dance, she is not too old or injured. " not all of us have too"
amazing actresses.
Winona Ryder is a brilliant actress
Natalie & Winona are so alike it's like seeing an older mirror version of Natalie putting her down.
Really. Never made that connection to be honest.
Wynona Ryder has very few scenes in this movie, but she outclasses everyone.
Hey!! Thats Winona Ryder!! OMG! I LOVE HER!!
Im really into that "uwh" , love it
Such a small role yet sill a highlight, I think!
I see Joyce and Padme are taking steps down from their husbands… 😏
My two favourite actresses
Winona, vc é demais!
Vincent Cassel is so hot and i felt intense chemistry between him and winona
Natile Portman is essentially a younger winona
Winona 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You make the most of it Nina!!!
The Demon statue disappeared when Nina turned around to see Beth. Love the little details
Love this movie
OH WINONA, MY B-DAY TWIN ✨✨💙💙💙💙
I love this because it's basically Winona playing herself
Winona Ryder is a great actress, but she doesn't seem to be acting here, I got this funny hunch she meant what she said in this scene because the pain in her eyes doesn't look put-on or forced at all. You can spot a fake smile or cry a mile away, and her outburst here in front of Natalie Portman doesn't look entirely fake to me.
She's imagining some hoe
She's trying to imagine Gwyneth Paltrow in Nat's place.
That's because Winona knows this is a metaphor for older women in the movie industry.
@Berverly Juliet Oscar history my dear.
She definitely has a well of experienced to draw from, but I’m sure she’s put some thought into it. I Guess her acting style has always been quite uncoaxed
They kinda look alike tho..like mother n daughter
I watched black swan a long time ago and I just found out now that winona was in it
Hey! you have a great French actor here! Vincent Cassel!!!
WILL!?
Wait a minute. Was there a cut in there? Have I been watching a “director’s” version? A few lines were not in there, which I think make the scene more dramatic.
If you're going to upload clips, please don't edit and censor them. There's like 5 lines of dialogue missing here and it changes the scene completely.
On the DVD bonus features, they showed that while they filmed Natalie watching the statue, Winona is just standing there waiting for the camera to hit her spot.
no duh.
What, did you think she actually materialised out of thin air?
Winona a freaking legend
This is a creative, yet disturbing to say the least, film!
Beth
Man I hate that he forced her into retirement. Winona has this eternally young voice that reminds me of Veronica Sawyer...and it'll always make her sound way behind her age....Thomas was wrong for this...and I hate the audience that stopped coming to their show because they thought she was old.
i love winona ryder
I would have loved to see Winona as Lily cause both Natalie and Winona look more alike like we see at the beginning of the movie with their hair up and their dangle earrings. Mila doesnt look anything like Portman
WILL???!!!
in the beginning of her drunken spiel, she sounds exactly like her old granny character from edward scissorhands XDXDXD
Why did you delete 5 of the 10 videos?? :(
🖤
Amo a winona
She is not a little princess. She is an aunty princess.
Winona was really beautiful in this movie
Not all of us have to...
It's a great movie, believe me! :)
I never knew Winona was in this movie until 3 years later after first watching it.
Me neither whoaa
I would have loved to see her in the remake of Suspense as one of the instructors.
Seriously, MOVIECLIPS, the film's out now, you can go ahead and upload the unedited version of this scene.
Man before watching this movie, I first watched The Crucible, and since then, Ryder creeps me out. She’s good though
yea :(
holy fuck I forgot Winona was in Black Swan, amazing
