Why Did I Get Married Movie Description:
Charles McCarter (Steve Harris) and his wife Helen (Kimberly Elise) are attending an awards banquet where Charles is receiving an award for the most outstanding lawyer in Atlanta. You would think that both of them would be on top of the world, but things are about to change. They are about to celebrate their 18th-wedding anniversary when Helen comes home to find her clothes packed up in a U-Haul van parked in the driveway. However, there is now a new wardrobe of designer clothes in the closet. Helen thinks this is the big surprise Charles was going to tell her. She was wrong; Charles is divorcing Helen for a younger woman. Charles has to drag Helen out his front door and closes the door on her, because this is his house. Helen moves in with her grandmother Madea (Tyler Perry), an old woman who doesn't take any lip from anyone, and if she must, she will use the gun she always carries. Madea helps Helen through these tough times by showing her what is really important in life. Helen begins to stand on her own two feet and finds a new man, Orlando (Shemar Moore). Every mom was I love with him 😂
Most men younger than 30 that share yall name was probably named after him too. Not because of mom's having a crush ( Shamar is Gorgeous) but because it's a lovely name with an awesome meaning❤
Top tier reaction SL
@@ashleydavis2124 my grandma was so into him especially on bones or whatever show he was always on
I’m sorry 🤣🤣🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ you’re named after Shemar with the jacked up cornrows
That slap she gave him in the wheelchair and the reaction had me dying 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣though I had some shi in my pocket!!
Yep that and the "you are my lawyer scene" seemed real to me that right there was some good acting💯
Let me explain something to you old Helen is gone
@@lolaloud5182 PERIOD 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
😂😂😂😂😂 bruh I am dying you hear me. 😂😂😂 I think I done rewind that shit so much. O man that was a good one 😂😂😂😂
THIS MOVIE is the reason why we aren’t trying to do traditional stay-at-home work. We saw how Charles did her and we said “absolutely tf not.”
Uh uh, speak for urself. She signed a prenup.. it’d be a whole lot different if she hadn’t. Or they made up an agreement contract.
I’m a black women who is a SAHM because all my paychecks would go to daycare. But my name is on Everything and we don’t have a prenup. Plus I’m not trying to be back out in these streets…
The whole point being: ladies, have your own!!
I worked hard at for all I got, married my husband when we were at a similar level and drafted my own prenup stating that I would be a SAHM once his salary allowed and if we were to split, we leave with what we came in with and divide everything else down the middle. Fact of the matter is if you not compromising, you're not committing. But trust yourself enough to protect your best interests. ❤
You should always have your own as well
You’re probably named after Shemar Moore, ask mom and lemme know 😂
Ima ask rn, cause ain’t no way😭
@@sl_1klet us know 😂
I was thinking the same thing😂 cause Shemar & Tyson Beckford was that guy around the time he was born
U dnt kno what pads is😂😂 touch grass😭
Welp guys.. I’m named after him..😞😩😖
Fun Fact: The house where they filmed the scene with Madea and the chainsaw was actually Tyler Perry’s house at the time. After they filmed the scene where Madea cut up everything, Tyler came out and said that he will never film another movie at his house because of all the damage.
😂😂😂😂he’s a idiot
BRUH!
But he did the damage 😂😂
Oh wow, Tyler, I hope he paid for the damages. Stupid he had the scene done in a real house instead of a prop. It's like when I first learned that he plagiarized someone else's writing to make Temptations, just disappointed.
@@summerrose8110….paid for the damages to his own house? what are we talking about here 😂
The braided wig was struggling 😂😂😂
You notice how Tyler Madea wigs be laid but have others looking a mess 🤣🤣
The reason someone said “RIP” during the scene where Helen visited her mom in the nursing home is because the actress Cicely Tyson, who played her mom passed away a few years ago.
Keep the reactions coming bro! You’re hilarious 🙌🏾
RIGHT😂
She passed away in 2021
He is actually bald 😂😂 that was a wig
Oh .. welp he made the right move🤣
Honestly, I do like her journey through this movie and finding her own strength to stand up for herself.
Facts!
Fun fact: everyone in the church scene that sang was their actual voice, except for Tyler Perry character's wife, her singing was done by one of the actresses in the Tyler's plays (Cheryl Pepsii Riley), who actually had moderate success in the late 80s to early 90s singing R&B...she's an awesome talent and performs live to this day.
And she was singing the song at the acknowledgment ceremony at the opening of the film
“Is this car a main character?” 😭
You be having me rollin 💀
🤣🤣🤣🤣
And if you look closely, you’ll see the side chick at the beginning after he announces his “lovely wife of 18 years” 🤯🤭
WAIT FR?!?
@@sl_1k YES
“Can I take your shift since you want to carry her out?” Had me screaming 🤣🤣🤣
bro was snappin at the end 😂😂😂😂
To help you better understand Madea as much as we do, it's important to know that her character is supposed to be wild and funny. An old lady doing what she's doing is obviously impossible 😂 But her role is significant in these movies because she often gives AMAZING advice which makes sense considering her age. She's been there and done that!!
Watch Mommy, dearest you will understand the line “No More Wire Hangers” RIP MRS. Cecily Louise "Cicely" Tyson. 1924-2021. She was an American actress known for her portrayal of strong African-American women. Tyson received various awards including three Emmy Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Tony Award just a little bit of facts if you didn't already know.
Ohh okay, that’s fire
49:00 idk if you’ve ever been to therapy or not but either way, hearing your routine with positive self talk and writing, plus seeing you actively work on swapping out ‘females’ for ‘women’ makes my counselor heart so very happy. It’s the small things that improve us and our world 💓 loving your reaction!
nah ive never been, but ive bbeen alonee for almost 3 years now, & ive had no choice but to grow & eevolve as a grown man yk? this means alot to see ive been on the right track, thank you for you're positive comment :)
As a female what’s the big issue with saying that word? I use female when talking about both women and girls. Id just like someone to explain to me why I should say women as I don’t see a problem with using it.
@@zaria_time1the term females is usually used to describe different species. Like when talking about a group of horses, someone would say "female horses". It's more scientific, not used day to day. You don't use females to talk about human women, because it's dehumanizing. Because it's usually used to talk about non-humans. Ask yourself why do people who say "females" never say "males"? I've never heard someone say "look at these males". Like Shemar in this video constantly calls women females, never once said "males". He calls them men. Also ask yourself why the term "female" is typically used in a derogatory or negative manner. It's never used to uplift a woman or praise her. Always used to degrade her, stereotype women, or speak badly about women. Think of the context that the term "female" is used in this video alone. Again, why are we FEMALES and men are called men?
@@zaria_time1because you would never say male, you would say men, guys, boys, but you would never call them males unless you were talking about biological. Unlike when you’d say female regardless of context. It’s partially because it reduces women to biology and because you aren’t keeping the same energy
@@Feliciatanktop true, and although most ppl don't intentionally use it out of malice we know the term comes from the history of misogyny and women being seen as "inferior" and not equal to a man. Words really do mean a lot psychologically and can be weaponized. Which is why I love that more people are seeing that and are changing that. I feel ppl often get too overly defensive over their "right" to say whatever they want, and I mean to each his own but I feel its just another step forward in creating more open and loving communities instead of division all the time. Nothing good comes from division.
Tyler Perry always cast real couples in his movies Shemar Moore and Kimberly Elise was dating for awhile back when they film this movie. 💜

Just realized she could've let him die and she would've gotten all his assets as his legal wife 😂 why she so nice...
“Why you so nice man” idky that just popped in my head🤣🤣🤣
Nah facts I would have done that tbh 😂
She is not that type of person. He didn't know how lucky he was to have her as his woman. I couldn't stand Charles. He was a total a hole

Whoever said you should stop saying females and start saying women is real asf! I recently found your channel and you’re funny as hell but it was a little off putting to always hear “females” but the way you handled it was perfect!! Idk why people fight so hard to say females but you immediately understood why it sounds wrong. You gained a new subscriber 😊
I literally feel the exact same!
So women don't sound no different? It still has "Man or Men" in the end .
Fe - " Males"
This is one of my favorite Tyler Perry movies it’s what got me into his movies
This is one the best movies I watched Ong!
Wow, what an incredible movie! "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" truly had me on an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. The story was so compelling and had so many important themes and messages.
Firstly, the performances in this film were outstanding. Kimberly Elise was absolutely phenomenal in her role as Helen. She portrayed the pain, strength, and growth of her character so convincingly. Tyler Perry, the writer and director, also did a great job playing Madea and adding some much-needed comic relief to the story.
The movie tackled some heavy topics, such as domestic abuse and the power of forgiveness. It was heartbreaking to see Helen's suffering at the hands of her husband, but empowering to witness her transformation from a broken woman to a strong and independent individual. The message that no one deserves to be mistreated and that it's never too late to take back control of your life was so powerful.
I also appreciated the strong sense of family and sisterhood portrayed in the film. The relationship between Helen and her cousins was heartwarming, and their unwavering support for each other was inspiring. The scenes involving Madea were hilarious and provided a much-needed lighter touch to balance out the heavier moments.
Overall, "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" is a must-watch movie that explores important themes and leaves you with a sense of hope and empowerment. I'm so glad I finally got around to watching it, and I can definitely see why it has become such a beloved film in the African American community.
Not a lot of people notice Charles' mistress was at the banquet in the opening scene
She's sitting behind Helen's right shoulder when Charles is giving his speech.
Listen, you jumped up out your seat like Helen slapped YOU! I died laughing!
What’s interesting to know, this is based off Tyler Perry’s play of the same name, but in the play, Helen stayed with Charles versus Orlando. I liked that in the movie, she left Charles
fun fact: helen and charles mansion was tyler perry’s actual house at the time
Nah that’s insane, he too rich🤣
the wire hanger part is a reference to the 1982 movie mommy dearest. it is such a crazy movie. i highly recommend you react to it
Bet!
Man the ending scene at church, dont matter who you are them tears gon flow! Tamela Mann her voice can really move mountains!
I gotta say thank you SLK for bringing this movie to my attention again cause damn, I feel like it taught some good lesson to me again

Shemar is an ENTIRE SNACK on Criminal Minds
“Nigga you can sing too?” 😂😂😂😂😂

The church scene towards the end was giving the color purple “god’s tryna tell you something.” much love ❤️
Me and my wife are old school like that. I work, she stays and takes care of the house, and we got 2 wonderful kids.

The wire hanger thing is a reference to an old movie called Mommie Dearest, about the life of actress Joan Crawford...In the film she detests wire hangers and flips out when she finds one in her daughter's closet, then beats her with the hanger.
I saw this movie when I was little. I’ve been a Madea fan ever since lol

Wire hangers refers to a scene in the movie Mommie Dearest about Joan Crawford. Classic line.
I am weak he said can I take yo shifts 😂😂😂
Rs! they trippin 🤣
I recommend "Waiting to Exhale" as it is often lauded as a good movie for several reasons. Firstly, it features a strong and talented ensemble cast, including actresses like Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett, and Loretta Devine, who deliver stellar performances. The film effectively explores the complexities of African-American women's lives and their experiences with love, relationships, career ambitions, and friendship.
Additionally, "Waiting to Exhale" is praised for its relatability and its ability to tackle common themes and issues faced by many women, regardless of their race or background. It addresses topics such as heartbreak, infidelity, self-discovery, and self-empowerment, which resonates with a broad audience.
The film also boasts a well-written script, based on the novel by Terry McMillan, that blends drama, comedy, and romance seamlessly. It effectively balances moments of humor and heartfelt emotion, keeping viewers engaged throughout.
Overall, "Waiting to Exhale" is regarded as a good movie because of its strong performances, relatable storytelling, and well-crafted script, making it an enjoyable and memorable cinematic experience.

I love this movie and all of the Madea movies that came after. I also like the 2 Why Did I Get Married? Movies by Tyler Perry.
Man I tend to forget sometimes how *fine* Shemar Moore was in this and the Criminal Minds tv show.
Young man just remember that it's not what you bring in your wallet that counts but what you bring in your heart. When you find the right woman for you she'll be looking at what's in your heart not your wallet. Don't settle for less than someone who understands that.
I’ve watched the “why did I get married” movies on my channel recently, if you’d like to check them out! & you’re right I was talking about past experiences, instead of mentioning the good women out there. One day I pray the right woman comes in my life, but until then Im focusing on me.
@@sl_1k good for you.
Something I’m just now realizing. Joe is Madeas brother, Hellen is Madeas granddaughter so that makes Joe her Great Uncle yet he spends the movie lusting after her and nobody mentions it.
Madea mentions it. She says “that’s your family” that’s one of the reasons she calls him nasty.
