It would make sense to just extend the available models of the 9. I'm in for a fold of the 9 for sure.
Actually, it makes sense, in a way, given the redesign fits more in the Pixel 9 Fold. i just don't care anymore. Lol
No Surface 3 or MS foldable, no other foldables with a similar aspect ratio. I will be sticking to my Pixel Fold for a few years.

If they’re making the design and chipset uniform than just call it the Pixel 9 Fold. If it’s the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, then it’s damn well better get the pro cameras and not the weaker Pixel A series cameras like the fold.
Makes sense if this is going to be the annual line up.

If Google is going to take their foldables seriously, they need to take the device to a whole new level. No more dipping the toes in the water.
Pro Fold also makes room for a non-pro fold. Imagine Pixel 9A Fold
I like it though I prefer Pixel 9 Fold Pro
It feels like Google would standardize on the naming so that way they can be clearer with their stance on supporting these phones... And they don't have to worry about people getting confused on how long these devices will be supported
As if they actually care. Google drops software products at the drop of a hat, why discriminate against hardware?
@@drewsarkisian9375 Ive gotta admit, Everytime I get a pixel (currently a pixel fold), I wonder how long is this going to be supported and are they just going to drop support for this altogether soon?... I get it that they've been keeping with Pixels for 8 gens now (right?... They didn't skip a year yet like everyone else?... Someone fact check me!) ... But when you have that reputation, it's hard to live down... Either hardware or software.
Just give us all the G4/Pro and AI features, no fall behind like ours now :(

Right now, I'm not blown away excited about any of them. Nothing like I was for Pixel Fold 1 or the Open.
@@scaryifliteral what's your daily foldable? I have a fold 4 currently, but that Pixel fold 1 form factor is calling my name. Waiting till a little later in the year before deciding which one to get.
The name may be a bit long, but I can understand why they would use it. By adding Pro, I think really want to emphasize that this fold will have ALL the same offerings of their flagship phone including features, processor, and camera. Many fold users have complained that a fold is by far the most expensive phone, and it should offer everything a flagship candy bar phone has.
I wasn't considering a pixel fold this year at all. I was either gonna keep my fold 5 another year or maybe get the oneplus open 2. But, I'm starting to get a bit excited with the direction google is going. A huge 8 inch main display. And if it really has everything the pixel 9 pro has including the camera, I might actually trade in my fold 5 for the pixel fold this year.
I mean let's be honest we're all just gonna call it the Fold 2. That being said, I still want a current Pixel Fold, but good lord the second hand market still selling them too damn expensive.
Probably because they have the latest Android and running great now. I am on newest VanillaIceCream (Android 15) already.
I'm of the opinion that they did it to compete with Samsung. If you were looking at names alone, what would catch your eye first? P Fold 2.... or Z Fold 6? Now imagine the options were Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 PRO Fold... I'm guessing they heard the rumors about the Z Fold ULTRA variant, and don't want to be left in the dust when it comes to marketing.
I like it. Its part of the family. Why do what samsung does? It may actually convince people who are buying a slab phone to look at a fold if you launch them at the same time. So many people are so impressed with the pixel fold when I show mine to them. However they have no idea what it is, never seen it before so on and so forth.
If it shares some of the hardware of the 9 Pro XL then it perhaps it really be called the Pixel 9 Pro XL Fold 😆
Just a name change. No big deal. People who like foldable are just looing for foldables. i dont think any phone will be lost. Standard 9 will be the new "A series" ( i hope) pro and proXL are self explanatory, and the pro fold will just be a fold. In fact i think people will not be confused since the name "pixle 9 proll fold" though long, will tell people thay the fold has flagship chip and specs compared to the last fold that had last years xhip
More than a name change because what it implies with regard to timing and specs.
If theyre adding pro to the name that means it will have the pro internals and camera, otherwise it would just be called the pixel 9 fold. Thats my take on it.

@@mouk3y I think it's just for a selling standpoint to be honest. It'll probably be more similar to the Pixel 9 Pro, just with the foldable aspect, so they'll just call them the same thing.
