    That is one seriously well-designed pack. One can tell this was conceived by someone who has struggled on many a portage with a less than ideal portaging pack.

    Greetings from the Sunshine Coast of BC 🌞 I just received an Expedition Canoe Pack in the post and WOW.....it is all I hoped for and more. It is just so awesome, I am really impressed with what you get for the price. I mean the handles, the straps, the material, the zipper.....it's just a pack full of joy...🤩...ok, a bit much maybe? Seriously, well done to Recreational Barrel Works! I have a Barrel on the way, I going to loose it when it shows up, I know it....🥳😆

    Nice looking, well designed gear Andy's making! I'll be sure to consider on my next pack or barrel purchase. Gear specifically designed for what we do is hard to come by. Way to go Andy!

    I love the design of these packs as it is very Similar to the old Ostrom Outdoors Packs. If the build quality of these new packs is anywhere close to the Ostrom Packs then these are a steal at that price... So Glad Andy is reviving this pack style...

      Just saw a post saying the Ostrom is making packs again. I wonder if that means these or if Ostrom is independently back in the game. Gonna be hard to compete with RBW since these packs are virtually identical.

    I've already got packs from that one Minnesotan guy that I'm sure everyone is thinking of at some point while watching this that should last me a very long time yet, but I'm glad these exist as the community will benefit tremendously from the extra option/competition. I'm very happy with my RBW barrel harness, and if these packs deliver similar quality, that's awesome. Based on the design's extreme similarity to Ostrom's packs, I assume that Ostrom was involved with these as well?

    That’s a well thought out pack. I’ve had a similar, no longer in production black feather guide pack that is probably 30 years old now and still going! yours has some improvements on it and will no doubt be the last pack any purchasers have to buy. Anyone worried about waterproofing their gear will soon discover the benefits of a liner or several smaller dry bags within work perfectly.

    We all know how Mr. Callan loved the Ostrom packs and this is pretty much the same thing. Not that this is a bad thing. Excellent looking pack and as soon as the liner bags are back in stock I'm going to add another pack. Don't tell my wife! The only suggestion is having the hip belt cinching as a pull towards the front rather than pulling and cinching towards the pack. It's a feature on Osprey packs that I love. • @TheHappyCamper
      @TheHappyCamper  ปีที่แล้ว

      It woukld be your neck and upper body muscles - but you don't need to use the head strap (tump)

  • @100BearPaw
    @100BearPaw 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Awesome. How do you think that pack would serve for both winter camping on foot also. I wouldn’t mind having a canoe pack that would do both. We’re talking 10 miles or less. Nothing crazy. Since it has support that a canoe pack historically wouldn’t have had, im thinking I could get away with it.

    • @TheHappyCamper
      @TheHappyCamper  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I'm not sure. A backpack might be more fitting.

    • @100BearPaw
      @100BearPaw 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TheHappyCamperwell I’d sure like to find out.
      You’ve adopted so many features that make a backpack what it is, that I believe it may just be the best of both worlds. That’s what I’m trying to do you see. Merge the two vs taking multiple packs.
      Many of the canoe routes I take in the USA, like the Buffalo for example, have multiple trail systems along the river system. So you can park early for the day at camp or spend an extra day at camp and do some hiking.
      Those dry bags with shoulder straps leave a lot to be desired.
