I agree with you but I struggle with God creating people for the purpose of filling up hell. Could you ease my mind on this?

@@Patrick-uu5xg From what I hear hell is almost full. Soon he’s going to ramp up manufacturing for heaven again.

First time at your channel. Good video I'll watch some more. Worth mentioning though - the odour of food can be greatly if not completely reduced when inside of a barrel I know when mine goes through pressure changes and hours later I'll open it and it will pop with air going in or out, which tells you that none of the air inside has been able to go in or out and if the bear can't smell your food he can't find it. To save weight and for much more room I take a 120 L dry bag and 60 L barrel for week plus trips in Canada. At night In black bear territory about 30 meters away from camp I put the barrel up against a tree snap the harness around the tree and attach a bear bell. That way I can decide upon seeing the bear who is going to win the battle for the food. In grizzly territory I bring the smaller barrel, 30L and send it up a tree, no bear bell cause I don't need to decide who will win that fight !

Snapping the harness on a tree with a bear bell is a great tip! Might have to try that! I usually just carry it well away from camp and hope that it’s still there in the morning lol.

Just so you know, Bears are thought to have the best sense of smell of any animal on earth. For example, the average dog's sense of smell is 100 times better than a human's. A blood hound's is 300 times better. A bear's sense of smell is 7 times better than a blood hound's or 2,100 times better than a human's.which means just because you can’t smell the food, doesn’t mean a bear can’t. Even if you just eat food in a tent one night, and then pack the tent it away, for up to 6 weeks later a bear can still smell that food. Even on Myth Busters, when they were trying to beat drug sniffer dogs, they packed a drug in a sealed container, packed in vegimite, inside a sealed container, packed in coffee inside a sealed container, in a massive warehouse packed with smells and distractions, and the sniffer dog still easily found it. Some sniffer dogs find things deeper than 10m in water! And a bears smell is 7 times better. So please don’t put any faith in you doing a sniff test is adequate protection against a bear!

I have a 60L barrel and love it.

I have a 60L as well. The harnesses fit both sizes so I just swap back and forth as needed.

I am new to canoeing, planning some shorter and longer trips with kids this year. I have just ordered 2x30L and 2x60L barrels. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Glad you liked it! That should carry all the gear you’ll ever need. I’ve always managed to get by with one 30 for food and one 60 for gear and that covers two people.
