I've always told my son, there is no greater role model for a boy than Superman, and that when in a difficult moral dilemma where the right thing to do isn't clear, always ask yourself, "What would Superman do?" The theology of Superman has been massively instrumental in shaping me as a man, and I'm so glad I've been able to pass him on to my son. This song beautifully encapsulates everything about Superman.
Man, this really brought a tear to my eye. I've always loved Superman since childhood. And I've also married into Superman family, and finally, my little guy came into the picture, and installed in him how awesome is Superman. And to be honest, my son is now my Superman.
I genuinely can't believe how much I've come to love this score. It pretty much left me cold during trailers. But during the film, I was gobsmacked, and over time, when I hear those first notes, that climbing melody, it's power I very rarely feel, exactly because it's so simple. I genuinely praise Zimmer and their team for having the guts to go to the hardest route possible: to perfect minimalism in the face of all his snobby critics. This score works a 100%, it just works for this film, this take on the character, this style, this depth, it embodies exactly what it needs to: a power beyond the human, a man beyond any man, a superman. When I hear those simple first moments I feel the unbelievably powerful simplicity of hope embodied perfectly in music. The reason I think why Zimmer is such a brilliant composer in terms of perfecting a conceptual essence in musical form, is because he truly gets what he's composing about and devotes the music to purely embodying that. Many composers to me feel like musicians/composers that adapt their work onto a film. But Zimmer feels like a storyteller who happens to use the medium of music. When it comes to film, that is the epitome of film music composing to me. This score, this score makes me believe a man can fly.
My father loved superman so much. He was an inspiration to him and we used to watch the movies about him and read the comics about him and talk about what he could do on a regular basis. The inspiration that superman provided was so intense that my father (tho he didn't seem to at times) gave off a similar inspiration. As someone who looked up to superman and loved him so much I too began to love this character as a figure of inspiration. When this movie came out my father took me to see it. This soundtrack was sooo amazing and hans zimmer is an absolute god when it comes to music. I still remember my father during the scene when he took of flying and how ecstatic he became when the music built up and he finally took flight!! My father is now gone but this theme... this theme reminds me so much of what he was... what he looked up to... and what inspiration he looked to in life.... and this theme is now a theme for me to remember as an inspiration for my own life... and as a remembrance of my fathers life and what he once believed in... Hope.
This really hit me hard. Your words sound exactly like something my son would write when I'm finally gone one day. I've always told him, there is no greater role model for a boy than Superman, and that when in a difficult moral dilemma where the right thing to do isn't clear, always ask yourself, "What would Superman do?" The theology of Superman has been massively instrumental in shaping me as a man, and I'm so glad I've been able to pass him on to my son.
Up to 5:11, I just realised how brilliant it is that Hans ZImmer emulated Superman approaching literally. The theme is literally approaching in volume, in harmony, in instruments, etc. On those first low bass notes on 4:04, like a dot on the horizon, you can literally hear Superman coming. A force for good, like no other. I get chills every time and only now do I realise it's because of this. That is what hope is, the dot on the horizon that you can see coming and immediately changes your entire perspective. That's why I love Zimmer, he let's the music literally emulate the subject matter. It works so damn well for me personally.
I feel the same way - your comment was 8 years old and I still feel like this about this piece of music. This music deserves to be in a much more hopeful movie than man of steel
You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders. Goodbye, my son. Our hopes and dreams travel with you. No, you are as much a child of Earth now as you are of Krypton. You can embody the best of both worlds. The dream your mother and I dedicated our lives to preserve. Earth's sun is younger and brighter than Krypton's was. Your cells have drunk in its radiation, strengthening your muscles, your skin, your senses. Earth's gravity is weaker, yet its atmosphere is more nourishing. You've grown stronger here than I ever could have imagined. The only way to know how strong, is to keep testing your limits.
Randall Greynolds - and every single one of them was lifted directly from much better Superman stories and put into an absolutely meaningless film. Hans Zimmer's score has really grown on me over the years since MoS's release, but damn it deserves a much better Superman than this mopey pos.
agreed. he is the ideal of hope, and the hope of Krypton. a man of two worlds Heaven and Earth. The best of our best and the best of our worst. From the virtue of a selfless life to the heat of a childs anger locked in a closet from a world that does not understand him...
I remember the first comic my father gave me when I was 12, it was Superman back from the dead. It was my first, and Superman is my favorite superhero to this day.
@@manictiger LOL I'm wanting to do the same thing that I typed out on this video 6 years ago even more so nowadays but I'm making it through.😃Yourself?
i love Hans zimmer's scores in just about every movie he has worked on.....but this.....this one....its special to me...it just reminds me about my life. it makes me feel no matter how hard to just keep moving forward. this piece is very motivating for me. i dont know how others feel about this score but for me its very dear to my heart. since a small child i was very interested and fascinated by superman. Hans captured the emotion of superman's struggles, fear, coming of age and his ultimate triumph. i guess thats why it reminds me about my life. Thank you Hans Zimmer.
Dude! 7 years on and I'm still listening to this epic mix, a couple of times a week. It always lifts my spirits. Hope you're well. Thanks so much for putting this together.
4 films with Nolan and1 with Snyder, every time Zimmer worked on the best OST of that year imo. He only squeezed out 1 nomination and lost it to Trent Reznor. Tremt fucking Reznor. I don't know who makes the bulk of the composers in Hollywood, but they damn sure don't have the same taste in film scores as I do.
Silrian777 As amazing as Inception's score was, I have to admit, Reznor's score of The Social Network was absolutely perfection. It's music and script made the film for me.
I still think it's less of a noteworthy and also less of an impressive score compositionally than Inception's. Inception just isn't a score anyone else in the current circuit except Zimmer could've made, And I just don't see that with the Social Network. If that had been Soderbergh's usual composer, Cliff Martinez, I bet he had impressed me way more. Because he is the king of ambient, mood-setting scores. I understand the soundtrack accompanied the film greatly, but Inception's only happens once in like a decade, Social Network-esque scores are being written all he time. He deserved the nom, but not the win.
Man of Steel was the first feature length movie that showed the Superman that I knew and loved: A good man trying to make the world a better place, but couldn't save everybody no matter how hard he tried. No matter how brutal the movie got; Superman was still Superman. I think that that Metropolis needed to be destroyed for the sake of the story, if nothing got destroyed, we wouldn't believe that Superman had to struggle in order to be a better hero. The Avengers caused just as much damage to New York, but you didn't notice because the film didn't pay attention to it, The Avengers didn't care that they couldn't save everyone, so you didn't care that they couldn't save everyone. Man of Steel made you pay attention because it wanted you to share Superman's concern to the city, You wanted Superman to do better because Superman wanted Superman to do better. I don't think It's Gritty Realism, it's emotional depth. Very few films can make you feel how the character feels without any facial expressions or exposition. I would rather have a sloppy film with emotional depth than a passionless comity designed mediocre action movie that splices in corny jokes. That's why Man of Steel is a Much better film than 90% of The MCU movies.
Jor-El: Goodbye, my son. Our hopes and dreams travel with you. Lara Lor-Van: He will be an outcast. They'll kill him. Jor-El: How? He'll be a god to them.
Dude. Just checking in to say that I still listen to this track all the time. The best mix of Man of Steel music I've ever come across. Great work man!
I haven't seen this movie yet but listening to this in the point of my life right now where the line between failure and success is very thin got me bawling. Very inspiring.
I teared up while listening. Can't even explain in words how amazing this piece of music is. It's an incredible soundtrack to an amazing movie that I loved from the very first moment I heard/watched it. Thanks for sharing ^^
The best possible thing that can come from them killing Superman off is probably this. Imagine, somewhere near the end of the film, the Justice League fighting against an enemy that is overpowering them (Braniac/Darkseid) and then they start falling one by one. Then the part from the 10 minute mark starts playing and they start showing the dirt rising off Superman's coffin. They show some slow mo shots of the Justice League members going down, the citizens crying for help and some flashbacks. They slowly build it up to the 11:44 mark. Then, Superman rises out of his coffin toward the sky at the 11:44 mark and he flies towards that location to save the Justice League and humanity. That would be awesome.
It's too bad Zack Snyder will probably never read your comment, because that would be amazing. Only, how about this, instead of him rising slowly the dirt rises slowly. Then as the music builds, it is faster, and faster. Then, BOOM! Full speed kryptonian death, straight into steppenwolf chest. (I've done some reading, plus bought ultimate edition. Steppenwolf is supposed to be the villain for justice league. Well, one of them anyways.)
Danny Elfman ruined any possibility of good music in dc movies. I wish Hans Zimmer stayed. Justice League had boring music besides a revamped Batman score. The only time any of Hans Zimmer score is used is in a trailer for justice league, which was the best part of it. That part of the trailer was better than the movie lol.
If u can really feel music, then you can feel a gush of power and simultaneously a feeling of powerlessness go through you while this track is being played. That experience is quite something.
Dude ! Months and months later I have still been using this music for study and work, not only have I got some amazing exam results, but I've been much more productive. You need to share this mix with the universe bro, as this music gives me the lift I need to make it through the day, and I bet it could for others too ! Big respect to you, make sure you let us know next time you remix something ! Cheers
Awesome man! Thanks, glad to have helped. I've had very little time lately but eventually I'll get to more stuff. I promised my mom a big pirates of the caribbean suite too haha.
Hey man. I'm at work, on a Sunday, but your awesome mix is inspiring me to get things done. Cheers buddy, this is still the best Man of Steel mix ever.
Whenever listening to this masterpiece We get automatically get the feeling of hope in our heart that's where Superman belongs to, we're all superman, we need to be the symbol of hope towards others
I’ve been using this through my workouts since it’s been here so I want to thank zimmer for this masterpiece as well as you for putting this up. I am aesthetic thanks to this
Dude ! Weeks later and I am still trippin on how great this remix is. Have used it at work to get psyched. Again, way to go, the ultimate MOS mix. You are the man !
Hey triple 777, thank you for putting this on youtube. You saved me from suicide when my own parents laughed at me (my friends said I wouldn't be what I wanted to be after high school.) When I said I wanted to be a author and film director. God bless Zimmer.
You know, before Man of Steel came out I was never a big Superman fan. I had grown up a huge Batman fan. I liked Superman, but I didn't understand what made him so great until I saw Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman. It was Snyder's emphasis on Clark inspiring hope and the best in others that made my liking and respect for the Man of Steel grow exponentially. Especially at the end of Batman v. Superman when you see the change Bruce has gone through. I wonder, were the bats lifting Bruce towards the light at the beginning of the film a foreshadowing of Kal saving him from the darkness?
wcw2793 while I'm glad you're now a fan of Superman, I have to say personally I don't like the movies portrayal of him. I feel that the movie needs to show don't tell, and throughout Batman v. Superman they keep emphasizing that he's this beacon of hope, when he only really smiles a few times. I feel this may just be nostalgia, but Christopher Reeve's performance will probably never be topped. He brought a humble, awkwardness to Clark while also being strong and someone you can look up to. That's what we need in a Superman. I feel these new Superman movies are taking themselves too seriously. We need another light-hearted film.
I dont know how many people actually thought that he was only rogue cuz Robin was killed by the Joker. I mean seriously that would mess any superhero up. What do you think Bale wouldve done if Heather slowly killed a kid he raised to fight the good fight lol you crazy fucks dnt think for themselves, always following shock value trends
Listening to this on the drive home, to lift my spirits after a long day at work. Have heard it at least 1000 times but this mix always soars. Great job mate! All the best.
This and batman the dark knight ost are the only soundtracks to make me cry ever but a cry of inspiration and a feeling of proudness for seeing the characters overcome their challenges. It helped me overcome my own it still helps day every day
This score and this movie really blew me away as a die hard Superman fan. As much as I loved Christopher Reeve and that classic John Williams theme, this one gave me a different type of magic. I question why many people I've known either hated the movie...hated Henry Cavill...or the musical score...Had its flaws sure...but it darn sure was the best on screen portrayal of Superman I've seen and Hans Zimmer's score is fantastic. I'm not really a fan of Zack Snyder and I'm still waiting for that iconic Clark Kent ripping his shirt off, but I loved this Superman and I can't wait to see another stand alone movie.
Yo dude, it's been over a year since I first heard this, and I'm still using this splendid mix of yours to keep me motivated at work. Best soundtrack mix ever ! Bravo dude, bravo.
Silrian777 You're the man ! Looking forward to what you're gonna do with B v S's score when it comes out next year ! It would be awesome if somehow HZ could hear this mix , I'm sure he'd work parts of it into his score. All the best, dude !
Silrian777 Honestly.... up until this film I never really liked Superman that much..... but this movie showed a side I'm glad was played straight. He's not a god, or a kryptonian... he's human. He makes mistakes and this film showed the side that is so rarely used in his films. So kudos to Zach Snyder and Christopher Nolan.
William Beck Totally ! He even drinks beer while watching football and helping his mom with the dishes. I liked this manual-labouring-beard-sporting-jeans wearing version of Superman. Made him a lot more relatable.
I want to thank you Silrian777. For the past year and a bit whenever I've felt at my lowest I've always come back to this edit. Thank you so much for taking the best bits of what was an already amazing OST to create something truly super. Thank you.
No worries just heaven me an excuse to listen to it again. Not long now till BvS and I have to admit looking forward to what Han's and Junkie XL do with the new Batman theme.
It's been 4 years since I last heard Zimmer's compositions for our dear Superman of Cavill, and hearing all these pieces again reminds me of the great potential this version has and that I hope to see more in the future.
boringman :D I don't remember much from this movie, other than him struggling in a boat or something. I like him better fighting Zod while crashing through the atmosphere like two battling meteors
Dude who mixed this. This is pure epic ! I loved MOS, and the way this track transitions from "Flight" to the end title, very nice, kind of wish HZ had done that during the film, would have loved to hear a little more of the new Superman theme. Anyway, all hail HZ, he's the man ! Peace out Super-fans !
What starts at 7:44 is really emotional, give a lot of weight and brevity to what is already an amazing sequence (Superman and Zod's last battle in the air).

Great sound track, best Superman movie yet.
Takes a while to gain momentum, but when it gets started, it's unstoppable!
That's what she said.
I like the pacing
@@theiyrosthenes1639 Thanks. Yeah my intent was to make one massive build up.
11:20 This part, just hits me right in the feels. So inspirational!
+Fanis K. 04:56 08:52 and 11:20 :)

This piece of music is absolutely perfect. I can meditate in a dark room with this blasting and regain my focus.
totally agree
Awesome people! Thanks.
I am aesthetic thanks to this
For me, this is by far the best suite of this OST. It has such a good progression! I've listened to it for years. Thank you very much :)
Thanks for the kind words!
Hey man, jus wanted to stop by and say that i still listen to this amazing mix, gives me hope. :)
Wow!! This is beyond words!! The best mix of any OST I have ever heard. Well done my friend!
Thank you very much!!
The only way to know how strong, is to keep testing you limits
- Jor-El
Dude ! Weeks later and I am still trippin on how great this remix is. Have used it at work to get psyched. Again, way to go, the ultimate MOS mix. You are the man !
Hey thanks a lot man, awesome you're enjoying it so much!
I really need to try and get my Dark Knight Trilogy suite up on YT again.
This music makes me feel like nothing is impossible
Hey triple 777, thank you for putting this on youtube. You saved me from suicide when my own parents laughed at me (my friends said I wouldn't be what I wanted to be after high school.) When I said I wanted to be a author and film director. God bless Zimmer.
Idk how I missed this comment, but I hope you're well!
I salute you for this. And this is what a film maker aims for,to make movies that will touch the audience.
wcw2793 while I'm glad you're now a fan of Superman, I have to say personally I don't like the movies portrayal of him.
Man of Steel was a great film and BvS Snyder cut was even better than the 9/10 theater version
It helped me overcome my own it still helps day every day
hearing this soundtracks gives you goosebumps fit the movie so well hans zimmer is beyond amazing
Chills, every god damn time 6:05
Whenever a score from a movie keeps playing itself in your mind over and over again it's always Hans Zimmer! What a composer...
I listen to this whenever I need to get motivated. It works every time.
My father, absolutely beleived,
That the world wasn't ready for me...
...What do you think?
Not yet big man, too much prejudice, corruption, and insecurity, just wait a few decades, then show yourself.
jumping ships there, superman?
Hahaha, superman commenting on yttube..so unreal..i can only hope for the future to make it true.
I think the important thing for you to contemplate now is what Batman will think.
BECAUSE YOU TWO ARE GONNA FUCKING MEEEET, AAAAAH *mind explodes*
Silrian777 yeah been waiting for that for a long time i cant wait
A very good movie indeed. Finally someone came along and did it right. Bravo snyder and Hans... You the man!
the transition at 10:00 is absolutley Amazing
Thanks!! Took me a while to find it so to speak.
It was actually surprising seeing Superman without tights and his bright colors.
Yo dude, it's been over a year since I first heard this, and I'm still using this splendid mix of yours to keep me motivated at work. Best soundtrack mix ever ! Bravo dude, bravo.
RR Taylor Thanks so much man! Awesome to hear I had a hand in giving you a better time at work!:)
Silrian777 You're the man ! Looking forward to what you're gonna do with B v S's score when it comes out next year ! It would be awesome if somehow HZ could hear this mix , I'm sure he'd work parts of it into his score. All the best, dude !
rrtaylornz Thanks man! If zimmer ever heard this all I could hope for is if he said 'he gets it'.
10:05 is Just legendary
I seriously listened to this while working out. The build up between sets and everything got me hype. Zimmer the god does it again.
We want a Man of Steel 2!
nice combo of themes put together as one big masterpiece
Thanks!
Tuned down to A = 432 Hz; I like this very much. Tyvm for expertly organizing these themes into suites.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this film.
This is an amazing suite that you did, hope it never gets deleted, I’m going to be devastated if it does lol
Amazingly long with increased pacing, and too underrated honestly.
Just as a heads up, my dark knight trilogy suite is back up... for the time being.
Roger
Silrian777 Honestly.... up until this film I never really liked Superman that much..... but this movie showed a side I'm glad was played straight. He's not a god, or a kryptonian... he's human. He makes mistakes and this film showed the side that is so rarely used in his films. So kudos to Zach Snyder and Christopher Nolan.
William Beck Totally ! He even drinks beer while watching football and helping his mom with the dishes. I liked this manual-labouring-beard-sporting-jeans wearing version of Superman. Made him a lot more relatable.
rrtaylornz I'm sensing there's some sarcasm here.
William Beck Even if it was sarcasm everything he mentioned were things I actually liked about Superman lmao xD
This is beautiful. Han your amazing.
Zack Snyder didn't understand Superman... But Hans Zimmer did.
I want to thank you Silrian777. For the past year and a bit whenever I've felt at my lowest I've always come back to this edit. Thank you so much for taking the best bits of what was an already amazing OST to create something truly super.
Thank you.
+AUS Raja You're welcome! I'm very happy to have had a hand in someone's wellbeing this way! (Sorry for a late reply.)
No worries just heaven me an excuse to listen to it again. Not long now till BvS and I have to admit looking forward to what Han's and Junkie XL do with the new Batman theme.
This Video deserves more views dude it’s incredible to listen too!
It's been 4 years since I last heard Zimmer's compositions for our dear Superman of Cavill, and hearing all these pieces again reminds me of the great potential this version has and that I hope to see more in the future.
The best OST of Superman Movie ever!!!
Superman 1: 7/10
Superman 2: 8/10
Superman 3: 2.5/10
Superman 4: 0/10
Supergirl: 5.5/10
Boringman Returns: 4/10
Man of Steel: 10/10
MY OPINION!!!!! ;)
Robin v. Persie Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut 8.5/10
boringman :D I don't remember much from this movie, other than him struggling in a boat or something. I like him better fighting Zod while crashing through the atmosphere like two battling meteors
zegh8578 Superman Returns=Boringman Returns.
Kara Zor-El yes, I know, I thought it was fitting
zegh8578 Oke.
Music befitting a Super hero, well done
The music really made the final confrontation.
You have gone out of your way to impress me and it freakin worked
Haha, thank you!
Awesome mix man, very inspirational. really like the transitions between DNA and flight, ( I think those are the names of the soundtracks) at 8:51.
That would've been me (the uploader).^^
Glad you appreciate it this much man!
Great work on this and Zod's Suite! Its awesome listening to these back-to-back. :)
I love the transition between "If you love these people" and "Flight" sooo good
Thanks!
I believe Superman is in all of us, when we do what is right and help others in need.
Agree!
A first suite of many to love. Enjoyed this till the last. Thank You.
beautiful
+afc97
Understatement! xD
What starts at 7:44 is really emotional, give a lot of weight and brevity to what is already an amazing sequence (Superman and Zod's last battle in the air).
ITS BACK
6:05 **eargasm**
Yes, utterly glorious, indeed!
8:53,11:44,7:02,5:53 are my fav parts
This specific take on the score has motivated me more times than I can count on my hands. Thank you :)
This music is magical
hans zimmer really was a brilliant fit Superman
cant wait to hear what he does for Spiderman
3:20 is my favorite part.
The Best Gym Workout and Motivational Music 🙏 💙 💪
Dear Lord this made my cry...to say that MoS is not inspiring...it's soundtrack makes it inspiring.
A spectacularly grandiose theme, worthy of DC's greatest superhero!!! :D
+Gustav Ramirez The WORLD's greatest superhero.
noone can be a better composer than hans zimmer in every movie with him composing the movies soundtrack was amazing. him and christopher nolan are a great team and i hope they keep making great movies together :)
Still Trippin on this one buddy ! If you put out any more Man of Steel remixes, let us know ! Awesome.
This is a piece of art! Goosebumps every time I listen to this.
