- Today we're talking about how to install peel and stick vinyl flooring as I share my entire process with this herringbone tile bathroom floor from the prep work, primer, installation, grouting and sealing. I cut the tiles down so I could customize the size and pattern and you can do the same to achieve any look you want with peel and stick vinyl tiles.

This lady must be a kindergarten teacher.. she’s extremely intelligent patient and thorough ❤
I think this is the most thorough instructional video I've ever seen. Bravo! The floor is gorgeous
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Your work is second to none may God continue to bless you and your family outstanding job
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your kind comment ❤️
Can I grout the family pets ?
This is the best idea ever 🤔🤯
Big brain 🧠 moment
Looks amazing. Looks done professionally.
Oh my gosh! Everything you’re doing in this bathroom makeover is what I’ve been planning to do. Thank you for showing me how to do it!!!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad this was helpful! I have a few videos left to post in this makeover (it has taken me forever to get them done) but I'll have them up soon. Good luck with your bathroom!
Definetly the most detailed video on this topic that I could find. Thank you so much for this video.
This such a beautiful instructional video. It really made me less anxious about doing the bathroom floor. Thanks so much for all the detailed information and the introduction to tools I haven't heard of :)
Very clear and complete directions - - nothing missed. Thank you for posting!
That looks absolutely beautiful! Amazing!
Thank you so much! ❤️
I appreciate your honesty, transparency and skills. I have ceramic tiles in 2 of my bathrooms but the house was built in 1967 and they are original, of course the surface is worn. Same with the foyer floor. In cold weather the tiles are hard on my 72yr old feet. I have been looking at this particular tile for my kitchen floor in 12x24 format but now I want it many areas - of course in the herringbone style as a result of your videos. I am thinking dark gray or black grout, sealed of course. Stained grout is so disappointing. I may use your technique in my Great Room although tackling a 1,200 sq ft installation solo is daunting. But definitely in my kitchen, foyer, bathrooms, office and my creative space. All thanks to you. Plus you saved me a lot of money. I knew if I selected ceramic tile floors I would have to have heating mats installed first. So an extra thank you for that in addition to everything else!
You are so Bad Ass. You are definitely an inspiration. I'm ready to begin my homeremodeling process.
Just stunning!!!!
This looks amazing!!! Great work!
Thank you! ❤️
This was incredibly helpful, thank you so much!
Looks beautiful ❤
Really impressive, thanks for all the tips!
I love how thorough you are, and do such a great job!!! This us a complex pattern (actually 2 patterns, diagonal, and herringbone) kudos!!!!
Thank you so much! This was a lot of work and took a lot longer than the typical tile job, but I had fallen in love with this look and just had to do it.
@@TheNiftyNester kudos!!! It's warmer than tile and not as slick
It looks fantastic. Well done.
Thank you!
You are amazing! Idk if I could do this with such precision.
Thank you so much! ❤️
Amazing work!
10/10 for a detailed explanation! thank you.
Looks beautiful
Thank you so much! ❤️
What an amazing video. Now I have a better idea of just what a big project this will be. Thx!
I will be doing this soon !! I love the look
Thank you! ❤️
Excellent job!
Thank you so much!
Looks beautiful!! TFS and Crafty hugs ❤️🤗!!
Thank you so much! ❤️ 🤗

You're welcome, thank you so much!
I learned so much, thank you!
I just found your channel. YOU ARE AMAZING and so creative. I have learned so much from your videos!!! I hope you keep doing more videos!!!😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much, I'm sorry I'm just now seeing your comment! I appreciate it and I definitely have more projects I'll be posting in the very near future.
You rock! Thank you for this thorough video. 👍🏽
Thank you so much and you're welcome!
Hello Nifty, new to your channel. You are very detailed in your "DIYs." I'm intimidated😂. Yet, thrilled to listen and learn. The floor is beautiful. The name you choose for your channel is befitting to you, especially since I listened to your detailed instructions and voice. I want and need to DIY my bathroom and will use your detailed videos to do so...thanks! I'll be watching and learning...👍🏽❤
the grout makes a huge difference
I agree! It looks more finished with the grout. It's more work but worth it.
Just being silly
Thank you for awesome content
😳 Omg! Girl you are my hero!!! That was soooo much work! I mean I love it, but man that was so much work! I don't think I have enough energy to do all of that. I wish I did. I would love to do what you did, but I would have to take the easier way out. It looks amazing, and you did a fantastic job; I just can't go thru all those steps. I need my bathroom floor done a lot quicker than all that. You are thorough and exact and amazing; I just need the shortcut route! 😂
Looks great 👍
Thank you so much! ❤️
Love this ..❤
Talented 👍😊
you did a awesome job 👍
Thank you so much!
Best video!
Looks nice. Going to have to get one of those rollers. I was dreading having to rent a 100 pound roller but I believe the roller used here will do a fine job.
Thank you! I've used this roller on the flooring in three rooms now, and it's worked great so far. I haven't had any issues with the flooring adhering to the subfloor.
Great job. I would never use white grout on flooring but it does look great!
Thank you! I love the look of white grout but it has already proven to be a pain lol.
Would love to see a final bathroom reveal!
I am so far behind on editing videos 🤣 I'm getting close to being caught up, though, and I'll have it posted here as soon as it's ready!
Im backkkk i really enjoy your diy vids im a new subbie here
beautiful
Thank you!
U R AWESOME ❤❤❤
not unscrewing and moving the toilet huh? I came here for the grouted herringbone install and am happy. What a great look. Can you tell it's vinyl quickily? How do you feel about the matte finish?
Wow!
This looks great. I bought the beige version of these tiles at Home Depot and I'm hoping to do a similar pattern, just with a border around the edges. Can't beat $65 for an entire floor. I'm not keen on putting it directly onto the plywood subfloor though (although that may change depending on the condition of the floor), so I'm using Quietwalk 1.4mm underlay for vinyl flooring (including glue down) over my subfloor. Haven't taken a look at the underlay (I think it has its own adhesive around the edges) but I think I'm still going to staple it down with 1/4" crown staples.
Thank you so much! I've seen the beige version, it's a really pretty tile as well. Like you said, you just can't beat the price! They say you can install on plywood subfloor but I've always wondered how well that would hold up over time. It sounds like you've got a good plan with the underlayment. I hope it all goes well!
This looks beautifully ❤ how is it holding up?
The tile we picked for our bathrooms are sooooo basic and boring. I’m THRILLED to know how I can upgrade every bathroom in my house!!! Awesome job!!! I saw 10 seconds of this video and was like, “….. I’m doing this.”
I love this floor pattern, but I’m not sure I can measure and cut correctly
Bro you just covered the perfect floor. Leave the clear!!
Awesome! I have a sealed concrete floor. Can I install tiles directly??
Thank you! I just inherited at older townhouse that needs so much work. You make me excited to get started!! Can you tell s where you got the tiles you used?
I think she mentioned it's in the description. I checked, it is in the description.
Whohoo..Wow. Great job.!!! You made me brave enough to do this all on my own. You have no idea the difference you've made in my life and bank account.❤❤❤ XOXO Edit: you know I have a question first as usual..lol. Okay...I ripped out the linoleum sheet flooring already, so now I just have the wood sub-floor. Do I still need to apply the primer? I would think so, but I need to ask the "genius expert" first...❤❤❤❤
Thank you Donna!!! I'm so sorry I'm just now responding to your comment (I'm falling behind this week). To answer your question, yes, you do need the primer for the wood subfloor. I'm glad to hear you're tackling your flooring project! As always, I appreciate your amazing comments and I love hearing how your projects are going! Good luck!
@@TheNiftyNester // Thanks hun.
Edit: and never worry about falling behind. I completely understand. We all get busy and sometimes overwhelmed. I know I get that way a LOT. Be safe by friend.
Everything I've read about the grout says it's supposed to be an acrylic based made specifically for vinyl tile. Did you find this grout to hold up well?
can this be done over existing tile in bathroom?
Was the peel and stick Cheaper than regular tile? Or was it that you wanted to be able to cut it/install it easier? Just curious? Because a lot of the peel and stick I’ve seen is almost just as pricey as (some) of the regular tiles 🤷🏻♀️ Thx
🤯🤯🤯
Wow, amazing job and a really helpful tutorial. Also, I think you might be a mathematical genius 😅
How is it holding up after one year?
What kind of tile did you use?
Where did you buy those tiles?
I have ceramic tiles in bathroom (medium hexagon pattern), do you think i need to use any sealer or will it be ok to stick the vinyl planks right above the tiles? Thank you
When installing over tile you don't need to use primer, they actually say not to. If you have a fairly flat floor it should be fine.
I have seen people do a thin layer of self leveler over their tile to get a flat surface to install the vinyl over but if you do that you do have to prime it and it'll be harder to remove the old tile underneath down the road.
@@TheNiftyNester thank you! :)
You're welcome!
Will these peel and stick tiles works on an outdoor patio? we have a cement patio and wanted to use a tile because i am
tired of repainting it every summer for a fresh look. This tile looks easier to clean.
Unfortunately, these won't work on an outdoor patio. They're rated for indoor use only. There are plenty of outdoor rated tiles. The installation process will be different, though.
@@TheNiftyNester thank you. By the way you’re a rockstar with all your reno videos. Keep it up
Is grout necessary for peel and stick tiles?
No it's not. You can use any peel and stick tile without grout. If you do want to use grout there are certain tiles that can be installed with or without it, which is what I used.
Maybe I missed it but what is this exact tile please and also, if you cut each tile and the same dimensions, why does it go a little out of sync when doing this pattern, as if the cuts are not equal
The exact tile is Tilemaster travertine 18x18 but I think they discontinued that exact tile not long ago. They have a light travertine 12x12 now that is nearly identical. The tiles were nearly identical but with human error there's always going to be slight differences, even 1/16th inch makes a difference when you have thin grout lines and repeating patterns. I just did my best to keep the rows straight and pick tiles that fit best next to each other. It's not perfect but for an affordable DIY option I'm ok with a little imperfection.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
fyi, way faster to just remove and reinstall toilet then to cut tile around, otherwise good job, looks good
Thank you! Yeah, I didn't have the confidence level to remove a toilet by myself yet when I did this floor, but I think I will when I remodel our other bathroom.
What’s the name of these tiles?
Paying attention helps. She’d mentioned multiple times.
Looks great! Difficult to listen to the strange tone of your voice during the monologue, though
