Great review -- fun to watch after just buying my 2019 SEL Fusion in Columbus, Oh; surprised how similar; guy is a great reviewer; he has a voice for radio for sure !
What outlets were saying negative things? I've heard nothing but praise for the Fusions 2017 onward by both major review outlets and owners. The only real issue with them is the EcoBoost 1.5 and its common coolant intrusion problem, which requires a brand new short block replacement, which you better hope happens while still under warranty (usually happens in the first 20k miles) lol. Other than that nothing but positives.
@@chekvb I dont like spending a lot of money on cars, I just sold my 2011 fusion (which I bought new in fall of 2010). I've realized after I had test drove a lot of cars, I was preferring the "premium" for lack of a better term, models of the more compact sedans than the base models of the cars a tier up for relatively the same price. I don't have to haul a lot of crap, or people for that matter, so having a bigger car really isn't necessary. That and I went certified pre owned instead of new. I ended up pulling the trigger on a 2016 civic touring 26k miles with all the bells and whistles for 10k less than a new one and when I asked if they had any veteran discounts, the finance guy threw in the 100k 10year extended bumper to bumper warranty for free . I was tempted to buy another fusion, but I just got way more bang for my buck with the touring. That and ford is killing their sedan lines, so I would have had to find a new brand eventually.
I love my 2019 fusion titanium awd I was looking at a Toyota camry but I needed awd above everything And the fusion has it and Toyota you need to get a suv or pick up to get awd
My husband and I just traded in my Fusion for a new car a few days ago, as much as I wanted to love this car it put me through so much garbage, just a few months after purchasing brand new off the lot, the AC blew at 6k miles, dealership had it for over a month fixing it. A few months ago it had the short block replaced from coolant intrusion at 36k miles....2 months back at the dealer for that repair. Oil light came on a week ago service dept said shouldnt have had happened since oil was just replaced, oil was barely registering on dip stick, of course no warranty left so I got rid of it. Not worth the hassle!
The Fusion is a nice driving car, more of a drivers car than the others in the class, except maybe the Mazda 6. I usually try to snag one at the rental counter
I STILL haven't gotten a Mazda. I see them on the lot all the time, but someone always grabs them before I get a chance. It's probably my fault though...I tend to roll into Enterprise pretty close to closing time
Daniel Gross my opinions on Mazda’s is that they try so hard to be a luxury car but they can’t like their interior is so good but then you go to some parts of the vehicle and it just looks outdated like the cloth seats and over things
Another AWD ! In the u.k this model is called the Mondeo and in the nineties and early 2000s was dominated the market to such an extent politians went after the votes of "Mondeo man". But for many years has struggled and is out sold by the BMW 3 series.A car not known for being value for money.
I agree with that. I bought a X3 Xdrive (AWD) and it has the same 2.0 size motor with a bit more power. But it actually gets the EPA 23 city and 30 mpg hwy. The ZF 8 speed transmission destroys anything that GM and Ford can come up with. The X3 is much more comfortable, taller, with more clearance and loads of space in back. The center stack and instrument cluster is functional, nice to look at and much easier to use. IMO, the X3 kills it. Especially in the last 2018 refresh. Probably the best SSUV on the market and can easily replace any sedan and provide allot more functionality. The Fusion's future is nearing end of life. Maybe they will make it another year. But its already done.
@@kalel33 Where are you getting that data from? No single statement from Ford claims this that I could find. Not in the owner's manual, website, ect. You would only see an increase in performance and fuel economy if the engine was calibrated to increase timing under 91 octane - which it is not to my knowledge.

Follow up comment. My wife constantly complains about the car riding rough. She is the passenger. I never paid attention. Didn’t notice. I have since learned that low profile tires are thinner and give a rougher ride. Tradeoff for good looks and superior handling. My neighbor just traded in his Cadillac Escalade. Said he couldn’t stand the rough ride from the low profile tires, If you need to switch car seats on a somewhat regular basis, don’t buy this car. Miserable experience.
I was in the air between a 2019 2.0T AWD titanium and a 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T Sport... I bought the Honda and I'm super happy I went with the Honda... The Ford felt cheap.
Who else with a 2019 fusion with the 2.0 ecoboost has to get their engine changed because of coolant leaking into the cylinders I see its a common thing check it out on Google I bought mine used with 34,700 miles and had it 2 weeks it ran fine when I got it than started making a noise Sounded like a ac bearing because when I turned on the ac it would get louder The dealer told me it was the engine that is making the noise and needed a long block to switch it out At least I'll have a new engine free of charge 😆 I miss driving it
In Europe Ford Mondeo is an interesting car but I don't understand why the appearance of the American Fusion is so much more appealing and Ford like than the European model. Ford should reconsider. Very interesting fleet owner car.
The fusion hybrid is great i believe they claim 43 city and 41 highway mpg but i always get far greater depending on the weather. In the winter since the batterys efficiency takes a huge hit my mpg can go as low as 29 for a trip but in temperatures above 60° F i average above 52mpg no matter what distance trip. I recently drove a 52 mile trip the other day and it has been about 8 thousand miles since my last oil change. i was able to get 48 miles per gallon even while being the highway for almost the entire trip
17:08, I noticed that the speakers are exposed and the trunk interior appears to be missing a protective ceiling. I bought mine slightly used from a dealer and it's the same thing. Is this standard?
My 2016 fusion se awd has the ability to view/control the climate on the right side screen. I wonder if that's just not a sync3 feature on this model of fusion.
I test drove a 2019 Ford Titanium a couple of weeks. It seemed like a good car, but I wouldn't pay more than $22K for one. I ended up buying a Kia Stinger.
Recently got a new job at a battery assembly plant and now leaning towards trading in my Buick LaCrosse for a model similar to this one I saw at a Kia dealership. Its constantly running hot cutting off on me while I’m driving on the highway🤯 and I’ve already spent more than 300 dollars in trying to figure out what’s wrong with it! Really just want something of the same size but MORE reliability with a few modern amenities. And a sunroof would be nice. :) although I wish the spoiler had a 3rd brake light like the previous gen Nissan Altima. Not a dealbreaker
I rent these on the regular as opposed to the Chrysler gas guzzling 300s, impala or toyo camry. Haven't touched the kias or Hyundai in rental car lots. In a 2020 fusion SE AWD at the moment. Averaging 19 mpg. Only thing i hate the most about the newer models is the "driver alert" system. I cruising along at 75 in Socal towards OC not to long ago and took my eyes off the road for a quick second to look at a building. The system went crazy and started to slow the car down by itself. I had no peddle control what so ever. Had to pull an emergency exit off the highway and the only way i regained control of the car was to shut it off, open the door for 5 minutes and then turn it back on again. Very scary and stupid system Ford has put into this car.
Hey good review on the fusion!😁👍🏻. I did want to point out I think you called the front hood release latch the trunk release latch or maybe the fusion has two trunk releases 😂
Outstanding compared to a 2019 Accord Touring. Literally, night and day in terms of noise. I have driven a bunch of cars. The only car that was quieter was a new Mercedes 300 with 18" wheels.
Unfortunately once you're paying for premium gas, you're probably spending as much filling up as you would with a Taurus. I'd take a marginally faster, more reliable naturally aspirated for about the same price used. Really compelling prices for low mileage, fully loaded trims
I know this guy and he’s a professional mechanic and he said his 19 Titanium had the F 150 transmission…is that an option or did he put in the F 150 transmission?
The rear seat belt is like an air bag I guess. It’s meant to better protect the rear passengers... I don’t know, here’s a video. m.th-cam.com/video/MN5htEaRk4A/w-d-xo.html
My 2013 same model trim level gets 9.5L/100km when going 100km/hr (60km/hr) P.s. my fusion for some reason is only 6.8 seconds to 60mph. It's quicker than this newer one
Biggest difference is several options on the '18 titanium are standard on the '19 as part of Ford's co-pilot 360. Don't really like the 19 inch wheels which unfortunately are also standard. The moon roof is one of only two options. I can do without that. Fortunately, according to the brochure they got rid of the white leather upholstery option.
If you ever buy a 3rd generation (technically 2nd gen) Fusion, please understand that unless you're very conservatively moderating the throttle, you will not meet the Ford Fuel economy estimates. My Fusion with the 1.6 EcoBoost only gets 18 city and 32 highway, I'd say 26 combined
Engine wise should be fine, cause I'm sure they use it for other vehicles. I can still get parts for my Suzuki Kizashi they quit making all together, but they are going up in price now.
They are building the Ford Fusion through 2021 so parts will not be a problem, plus they have sold over a million of them over the years so parts will be needed to service them.
I would strongly consider this car if I were buying a sedan Even though the car Lacks a little bit in fit in finish and quality. I do think it is a solid car overall and worth the money.
Buy it used and it will be an awesome car just make sure to check the tranny, they are their weakest point. If it checks out you'll get a dead ass reliable vehicle.
Question here. CR rates the Fusion 1/5 for reliability, but owner satisfaction appears high. Difficulty in satisfaction is the tremendous price ranges. From $24,000 cloth seats basic to $40, 000 plus models. Earlier complaints on the 2017 models were primarily battery drain and some instruments. My understanding is that the causes are now known and it’s a software fix. With these fixes, is the Fusion now a reliable car? I believe just 5% complaints by owners, give it a 1/5 reliability by CR. That means 95% of owners can love the car.
Your correct on all points. I had the 2017 with the battery drain issue and it was due to driver error pushing the start button more than once in 5 seconds but Ford still fixed it and bought any customers vehicle back without litigation. I took the buyback like a fool thinking I'd have extra $ but ended up loosing all of the extra $ buying an 2018 Accord to replace the Fusion. Now I'm back in a Fusion and thank God for that because the Accord was the worse car I've ever owned and it's showed it poor build quality the first week of ownership. After 3 days the car completely malfunctioned and had to be repaired for a week. Here's a list of Accord problems. Exterior chrome and/or Black grill bubbles up and has to be replaced yearly, the cars ride terribly hard and is very noisy (engine is noisy, ride is noisy from slamming into every crack, the road noise is unbearable) the dash rattles and there is no fix, the driver seat has to be fixed way too often, the rear brakes are worn at 20,000 miles, synthetic oil has to be changed every 35000 mile like it regular oil due to oil consumption and fuel in the oil that Honda won't fix, trans is jerky, hard to keep in its lane even with assist, worse sound system out of all cars and trims, cheap tires, kicker box carpet and mats that wear out within months of buying the car, all safety features malfunction, the brakes seem to stop in stages and won't allow a smooth stop, the car is way too low and so are the seats leaving the driver and passengers needing to fall into the car and grunt to exit, the trunk opens on its own and I confirm this buy hanging my keys on the wall but returned to an open trunk in the morning. The final straw was unexpected accelerations. All of these issue are all over the internet and even on Hondas own blog. If you need to see them I'll submit links as I have them available from the multiple times I had to show the service department who claim they have no knowledge of any issues you mention. As I mentioned Ford fixed an issue caused by the driver and repurchased the vehicles without a problem or any need for legal representation. Honda is now being sued for the defective collision mitigation systems that slams on brakes for no reason and will not acknowledge this serious issue. Just buy Ford.

I own this car in this trim. It is a great car. I love. Very enjoyable. One of the best family cars I've had.
I find it pretty neat having seat belt airbags for the rear occupants. It's a real neat feature that!
The rear seat belts have airbags in them. That's why it's different.
I love how good the car looks. Glad they're making it for another year for 2020. :)
Really? I hadn't heard that. Good to know, I was seeing some rumors online that Ford was going to stop making the Fusion all together.

I bought a 2017 same body style, color and features with 31k miles on it. Got the 100k extended warranty for it too. Had to have the engine replaced at 50k miles. At 55k miles atm. It was free and the new engine design which is already in the newer models do not gave that issue
One of ford's best!
Great review -- fun to watch after just buying my 2019 SEL Fusion in Columbus, Oh; surprised how similar; guy is a great reviewer; he has a voice for radio for sure !
Where in Columbus did you purchase it
Nice review sir 👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Cool car. I think a pretty good allarounder 👍🏻
Agreed!
Wish I had gotten this in 2016 instead of my car.
Oh no. What did you get instead?
2017 base model Nissan Maxima. A little quicker than this, but overall so much less car for the money.
Get a '19 Fusion Titanium AWD. I did.
Nicely done, Guv'Na... Spot on!!! :)
It's not made out of Titanium. It's a 2019 Ford Fusion Aluminum!
More like Unobtainium.
Just Stop🤦🏽♂️🤣
I love my 2019 fusion titanium awd
I was looking at a Toyota camry but
I needed awd above everything
And the fusion has it and Toyota you need to get a suv or pick up to get awd
Great, detailed review!
Hey I’ve listened to that audio book. Fantastic choice
It was very helpful, thank you ❤
I'd get the 2019 Fusion V6 Sport AWD I love the EcoBoost V6 better than the 2.0L I4 EcoBoost
Selling Price?
Howdy, great review!😸
Thanks partner. 🐶
I got 33mpg with the FWD over 2500mls this september :)
Lucky for you, gas here in Cali is now $4
Ouch.
I’m surprised it’s not higher
Rip the ford fusion man
Another AWD ! In the u.k this model is called the Mondeo and in the nineties and early 2000s was dominated the market to such an extent politians went after the votes of "Mondeo man". But for many years has struggled and is out sold by the BMW 3 series.A car not known for being value for money.
Mondeo, huh? Nice. Thanks to extra info. Maybe I'll try to work that in next video...with my best British accent.
Also in Europe Ford used the Fusion name on a sub/MPV variant of the Fiesta from 2002-2012.
I have never once heard of this car requiring premium gas. You may want to look into that.
It doesn't require it. It can run fine off of 87 octane but the performance is much better with 91, plus it gets better MPG with 91.
@@kalel33 Where are you getting that data from? No single statement from Ford claims this that I could find. Not in the owner's manual, website, ect.
You would only see an increase in performance and fuel economy if the engine was calibrated to increase timing under 91 octane - which it is not to my knowledge.
@@Blake-uf4rj my manual and personal experience with this exact car that I own

My wife constantly complains about the car riding rough. She is the passenger. I never paid attention. Didn’t notice.
I have since learned that low profile tires are thinner and give a rougher ride. Tradeoff for good looks and superior handling.
My neighbor just traded in his Cadillac Escalade. Said he couldn’t stand the rough ride from the low profile tires,
If you need to switch car seats on a somewhat regular basis, don’t buy this car. Miserable experience.
Just install smaller wheels...
I just looked at one the other.... hopefully it will be mine
I was in the air between a 2019 2.0T AWD titanium and a 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T Sport... I bought the Honda and I'm super happy I went with the Honda... The Ford felt cheap.
Who else with a 2019 fusion with the 2.0 ecoboost has to get their engine changed because of coolant leaking into the cylinders
I see its a common thing check it out on Google
I bought mine used with 34,700 miles and had it 2 weeks it ran fine when I got it than started making a noise
Sounded like a ac bearing because when I turned on the ac it would get louder
The dealer told me it was the engine that is making the noise and needed a long block to switch it out
At least I'll have a new engine free of charge 😆
I miss driving it
In europe, the Ford Fusion is named as Ford Mondeo, the difference is that the EU version doesn't have a spoiler
Really? I always find it strange that the auto manufacturers change the name for each region.
And they also come in hatch back form ☝🏽
I think 0 to 60 in 4.6 seconds is pretty fast. Quick pickup 😊
I have a 2015 SE hybrid, i got the car with 76k miles on it
@@mickeyyy7571 how is the hybrid? Are they worth it? I've heard hybrids aren't good to drive.
17:08, I noticed that the speakers are exposed and the trunk interior appears to be missing a protective ceiling. I bought mine slightly used from a dealer and it's the same thing. Is this standard?
Yes it is.
My 2016 fusion se awd has the ability to view/control the climate on the right side screen. I wonder if that's just not a sync3 feature on this model of fusion.
1:14 the good days
I’m debating either this or a Lexus IS 300
I test drove a 2019 Ford Titanium a couple of weeks. It seemed like a good car, but I wouldn't pay more than $22K for one. I ended up buying a Kia Stinger.
Well, for 22k for a new auto, you are not going to get much.
David Berkey you can get a whole lot if you negotiate
There is a button on the left at the blinker system to turn off assist. You can also go into the settings and adjust the intensity you prefer.
2:23 aww yueahhh ma impala faster ain’t no way but how does da ford have a sports n slower
My 2017 was totalled in a hit and run. Looking at a 2019. Both fairly the same with driving experience? Looking at the awd titanium (non hybrid)
I want !!😍
Отличная машина !
Езжу с удовольствием !
Hey good review on the fusion!😁👍🏻. I did want to point out I think you called the front hood release latch the trunk release latch or maybe the fusion has two trunk releases 😂
Thanks! And really? Uggg, that was dumb.
100 Rental Cars lol don’t worry about there are lot of TH-cam videos with a mistake or two in them your doing fine with your videos 👍🏻😁
This car doesn't look like a rental at all!!
I agree. I think it's a pretty good looking ride.
What other engine options are available for this car?
think the rear belts have fords airbag in the upper belt, maybe it needs a different design
The rear seat belts are thick because they have airbags in them
Me watching in 2022 when gas is $4.37 for regular
what do you recommend me to buy 2020 or 2019 ?
I have the ford fusion 2019 with a keyless start. The manual says it has a remote start but I can't figure it out
Push the lock button and then the button below it twice.
Will buy one of these used 15k miles... Should go for low 20ks.
This boy said gas is 2,09 and its pricy. In cali gas is like 3.50 normally. Sometimes 4.15
$2.09 a gallon for gas 😦 Up here in Connecticut, I have NEVER seen it go that low.
Garrett Cooper try California $3-4 premium at a shell is $4 and regular is $3.70😓
What is your thought on the road/cabin noise of the Fusion? Louder or more quiet than other sedans? Thank you!
Outstanding compared to a 2019 Accord Touring. Literally, night and day in terms of noise. I have driven a bunch of cars. The only car that was quieter was a new Mercedes 300 with 18" wheels.
@@hurleywilson7246 I found the highway noise to be a little quieter on the Subaru Legacy
I drive a 2017 its a pretty quite and smooth ride. Speakers are above average.
You can maybe install the 8 speed with modification. But the 10 speed is surely too large.
Where is gas only $2.09? It's over $2.70 In New York
Let’s not forget it’s good on gas
Agreed!
My 2019 se hybrid has an interior remote gas door release, yet this car doesn't have one. Anyone know why this is? Thanks
Yes it's because the hybrid engine fuel system has to be depressurized before adding gas so the interior button does that when pressing it.
Thanks Daniel, very informative
The rear seat belt is like an air bag I guess. It’s meant to better protect the rear passengers... I don’t know, here’s a video. m.th-cam.com/video/MN5htEaRk4A/w-d-xo.html
Does that funny looking rear seat belt contain an air bag?
It does. Crazy, right?
My 2013 same model trim level gets 9.5L/100km when going 100km/hr (60km/hr)
P.s. my fusion for some reason is only 6.8 seconds to 60mph. It's quicker than this newer one
practically identical to the 2018. little different styling on the outside
10-12 fusion squad
03:01 he read lock/unlock buttons wrong
I do this ALLLL the time. Sorry about that. Sometimes when I'm filming I say some crazy things.
You can get one 20 grand a year old and 15000 miles.
Really? Not bad!
That will buy an '18 with similar miles in Denver. I know I've been looking.
@@kenfarris8069 even 17500 for the hybrid. Perfectly fast . Much better mileage
2019 or 2020 ?
I wonder if parts for the fusion will still be available
Engine wise should be fine, cause I'm sure they use it for other vehicles. I can still get parts for my Suzuki Kizashi they quit making all together, but they are going up in price now.
They are building the Ford Fusion through 2021 so parts will not be a problem, plus they have sold over a million of them over the years so parts will be needed to service them.
No Apple carplay?
I was told it takes regular gas.
I think you can probably still use regular. But the manual suggests you use premium to get the best performance.
Correct.
IF YOU WANT MORE POWER THEN BUY IT WITH THE 325 HP TWIN TURBO V6. 0-6 @ 5.3
Premium by me is 4:07. I live in la
Ouch. Then again, you do get to live in LA so... 😀
Thank your Democrat Governor for that. Most Californians voted in higher taxes....go figure. Sorry
American cars have hidden gun compartments LUL
Question here. CR rates the Fusion 1/5 for reliability, but owner satisfaction appears high. Difficulty in satisfaction is the tremendous price ranges. From $24,000 cloth seats basic to $40, 000 plus models.
Earlier complaints on the 2017 models were primarily battery drain and some instruments. My understanding is that the causes are now known and it’s a software fix.
With these fixes, is the Fusion now a reliable car?
I believe just 5% complaints by owners, give it a 1/5 reliability by CR. That means 95% of owners can love the car.
The fusion is a reliable car. Look up the 100,000+ mile reviews of the fusion .
