    Hi Dani! Miss Wisconsin’s mom (now Miss Earth USA) here. Bea’s walking coach is Alma Cabasal, a former Miss Philippines Water. She had to break Bea of the caballo (horse) kick that a lot of teens do, or what you called “the bounce.” This was Bea’s first miss and national pageant.
    Miss Earth USA only had food for the fashion gala. No food was served during prelims and finals 😞
    Thanks for reviewing Miss Earth USA and the critique of each performance. Bea can definitely use your feedback 💕

    Bea is a strong contender. Her Climate change refugee advocacy is very impressive. She knows a lot about the issues of our planet and so a possible second crown for USA. She always mentions one of her pageant mentor, Alma Cabasal, 2013 Ms. Philippines Water, based in the US.

    Dani can you please cover Miss World and talk about changing dynamics of the pageantry world?
    A. Shares sales - both Miss World and Miss Universe sold 50% shares in the last 2 years. Why is this happening? Economic pressures?
    B. Changing DEI standards - inclusion and adopting new beauty standards and how does that play into traditional markets.
    C. Social media presence (specially the use of website and apps) - Miss World focusing more on facebook and youtube - MU on instagram and TikTok.
    D. Fake advocacies - Some pageants using popular agenda like climate change (Miss Eco) and war (Miss Grand) but not really walking the walk.
    E. Insular trend - pageants being more insular - back in the day winners would get Hollywood red carpet invites, covershoots, etc. where is the glamour and exposure?

    Heart crushed when Mississippi delivered that answer. Like the metaphor but it didn't have enough oommpphh power to push her to the crown. I was hoping for a Mississippi-Texas-Wisconsin last three standing and any of the three for me would be an amazing representative but WOW OH WOW did Wisconsin REALLY CALMLY AND CONFIDENTLY DELIVER!!! Agree, CA gown was ...... could have been better. Connecticut i think i would have replaced with Florida.

      It was all those years on the high school debate team and collegiate debate team that helped Wisconsin with her communication skills. She also started delivering academic papers at colloquiums when she was a rising sophomore in college. Middle and high school pageant ladies should consider signing up for debate, forensics, mock trial, to help with public speaking.

    Tennessee was an outgoing elemental titleholder, 2023's MEUSA Eco. Colorado not only competed as a teen (Teen Minnesota Earth 2018) but was Miss Minnesota Earth 2020. I competed 4 times at Earth USA (2018, 2019, 2020, and the 2021 virtual, where we all had 2020 titles still) and coming from a state that didn't have a director or program in place, like many states don't, getting sponsors and raising funds was an extremely difficult feat. A lot of girls, especially the girls who competed in those same circumstances, struggle to afford coaching, which leaves many girls trying to learn via imitation, and my guess is that's why there's so much bouncing. I couldn't afford coaching until 2020 when one of the elemental court was kind enough to offer me some coaching at a VERY low fee to help me out. I'm sure that when you judged in 2019, the bounce was just one of the plethora of reasons I didn't place 😂😂😂

    • @tonim3865
      @tonim3865 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our state doesn’t have a state director. The extended family and my job at a hospital funded my daughter’s campaign for Miss Earth USA. My reaching out to Filipino Americans in the fashion industry helped us find our designer (Carmelo Andrada from Carmelo Designs) and walking coach Alma Cabasal, who was a Miss Philippines Earth Water. She also hates “the bounce” but she calls it “the caballo kick.”

    • @sarahmassingale
      @sarahmassingale ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @tonim3865 That's awesome that you were able to help support your daughter and find her a coach and sponsors to aid/contribute to her ultimately winning the MEUSA crown! I'm so glad you guys were able to be so successful in that. During the time I competed, I, and a number of the girls I knew, tended to have a more difficult time with that stuff, so I'm happy to know things are changing! Most years when I competed at MEUSA, I was lucky if I was able to fundraiser even $200. My first 2 gowns came from Amazon, my 3rd was from a resale group, and my last was from another queen who it didn't end up fitting when she received it, because I had such trouble getting anyone to talk to me or respond to any of my letters/emails. I think in the 4 years I competed, I probably managed to fundraise maybe $600 total, had 2 sponsored outfits, and 1 sponsored meal. My college graduation present from my parents the first year I competed was my flight and my portion of the hotel room I shared with them and my sister, and everything else I had to come out of pocket for. I had a number of friends in similar positions. I am truly so glad things are starting to change for the girls from director-less states! That's something I've been trying to find ways to help advance for a long time! Congrats to you and Bea!! :)
