Thanks for the tour. I haven't been back to Birkenhead for more than a day in the last 20 years, and it's nice to know I'm not missing anything. :) The town centre was great in the late 80s/early 90s. Last time I went though, I was sat opposite Purple Aki on the train from Manchester to Liverpool, and he stared me down for the entire journey. God, I'm old.

@@ZacJonesTH-cam Yeah it's all changed, Victoria Road in New Brighton is supposed to be the place to be these days, had a nosey few months ago and it's coming on 😝 So sad about Birkenhead, sure there's videos what it used to be like :)
@@katiecraze7864 same ! I genuinely felt like a time traveller when I went to New Brighton recently. Birkenhead girl myself and grew up near the docks so was good to see this video. I’m now settled on the Isle of Man. Birkenhead Town centre is like a ghost town now well weird
@@JulietManx New Brighton is crazy now isn't it 🤣 I remember it being packed in the 90's for a cone of chips and a 99 few pennies on the arcades and now it's like a tourists dream 🤣 So sad about Birkenhead :( Awh amazing! I've never been will have to visit at some point I know it's a gorgeous place to live 😍
When I was living in Rock Ferry on the Wirral in the 70’s and 80’s I was never offended being called a Woolyback, scouse humour. The tunnel bus on a Saturday night was classic…

Birkenhead was great to grow up in in the 70s and 80s. Then i bugged out and joined the army . Its not the same now . But ive still got a lot of love for the place .
I travelled round a lot and hated being called a scouser .We have tree's and fields and a education.💙💚🇬🇧🇬🇧

Theres good and bad people in both wirral and liverpool. im from wirral but always find liverpudlians are really helpful and funny as heck! wirral were the actual original scousers though!🙂a little check through history will show you that one. ive never had any crap from the folk over the mersey only lighthearted banter. If you need a friend in lpool theres always someone to help you out..a great variety of good funny personalities (yes i do know theres some bad buggers too) and i love visiting lpool and meeting some of the goodens🙂
Wooly back comes from the Liverpool Dockers on strike. The people ( scabs) come from outside of Liverpool to unload the sacks of wool
Birkenhead had the first trams in the country, Liverpool were way behind , they got them in the end though, the should still be here, oh they still are in b head, just a small line, lovely to see whether there out

Thousands of scousers on the Wirral , I was born in Oxford street in Liverpool City centre , but I dont claim to be anything
The old fella with the hat on saying he had the giggles is nicknamed davey haha when I was in my teens 25 years ago he was the same drinking in town centres,he use to just laugh all the time and always getting arrested,how he’s not dead I honestly dont know, rumours I’ve heard is he was once a very respected man he was kidnapped and the gave him acid and ruined him that’s how he ended up like that I can believe that!I use to do security in Birkenhead for the Clarkes from Liverpool it’s a dump but I also remember It’s glory days as a toddler with my Nan and Grandad

I personally don't associate myself as being remotely scouse, we are not scousers. Some pretend that they are mainly in the Birkenhead area but trust me there's alot of us who'd much preferred we stayed under the Cheshire realm like we used to as that's why our postcode starts with CH. Love Liverpool City centre and maybe Sefton Park but other than that seems like a very rundown and unsafe place to live. Probably why you'll see alot of scousers moving over here. Because all in all the wirral is a decent place to live. Even some places of Birkenhead...
Its hard for me to see a difference between us really plus i can see liverpool from my window, its 2 train stops away. I go to Liverpool all the time but theres places of the wirral ive never heard of
You may have mentioned this before but have you always been from Liverpool? You do have another accent in your voice? Irish or something but you deffo have an accent other than Liverpool.
Always yes! I have a weak accent though, my parents aren’t from here

I'm from Liverpool but live on the Wirral. I don't find them similar, the Wirral is not as culturally diverse or as friendly as Liverpool.
