Hi Erin, so the recipe quantities and liquids are all geared toward using a raw bean, and yes, if you followed this recipe and then added cooked beans they would go to mush, but also it would be very liquidy because it has nothing to absorb into. You would have to reduce the liquid and add the beans much later. Also the beans wouldn't absorb those lovely lamb flavours so the overall casserole wouldn't be as tasty. Hope that helps 😉🌹

Can you use canned beans? Would they end up as mush?
