  • Major Scotty Mills went on a remarkable journey that took him from inner city London to the highest-ranking black officer in the history of the Royal Marines.
    In 32 years of service, he fought in four war zones, spearheaded the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and led physical training for all 6,500 of the UK’s Commandos.
    But that’s only half the story.
    Scotty has also trained Gold medal-winning athletes, broken a World record, worked with England’s football team and, in 2018, received the Most Inspiring Serviceman award from his good friend, Gareth Southgate.
    Please take a few minutes to hear him describe how ‘an ordinary lad from Peckham got to do some extraordinary things’.

    I'm not a great fan of war, even though I served in the military myself, but thank God I never had to be deployed, I came out in March 2001, but if wars do have to be fought, this man and many others like him are who we need doing it. With the thought in mind that he is there trying to protect the vulnerable and oppressed, regardless of who they are and where they come from. That is the only reason we should ever be even thinking about sending young men in to the horrors of war. Major, may God bless you and protect you and bring you and your family peace, joy and happiness in Jesus name. 😁❤️💪🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾

    Cool interview/story but why mention his race?

    • @sinqobilengubo2667
      @sinqobilengubo2667 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      I agree, I'm black and served in the British army many years ago as well, when people thought that it was a racist institution, but it wasn't when I came out in 2001, I only came across a couple of individuals who ignorantly said something, but it was soon sorted out and we became good friends, brothers in arms. When you mention skin colour it makes it seem like a black person is at some sort of disadvantage in certain circles of society, but the truth is that if anyone wants to achieve something, if they work hard and give it their best effort, they will reap the benefits of doing that and no one can do or say anything against that, I can say that from experience, that as black man born and raised in London England, the only person who has ever stopped me from doing or achieving anything is myself. This race baiting nonsense is just divisive and if anything it holds people back. There are ignorant, naive, hateful people in all walks of life in every country, of every colour and culture, but they can't stand in the way of righteousness, integrity and determination. That's what we should be teaching young people, to stand on the side of God's truth and righteousness and you will always be successful, in this life and the one to come. 😁🙌🏾🙏🏾

    Let me tell all of you how bad american civilian life has become... this man is a recognized war hero for deploying the day of his grandfathers funeral... yet i as a detested, poor, and single bluecollar worker had to see my grandfathers corpse and go to work the very next morning like nothing happened.."how is it going today?... oh ok... not much going on... how about you?" Soldiers are not the only people who have to suck it up...

      Mentioning he’s the highest ranking black marine officer at the rank of Major might inspire more black British to aspire towards serving or commissioning into the Royal Marine Commandos!

      @@loyal2no146 You know for a country that didn’t allow black people into your guards regiments till recently, you sure have a lot of selective anger. The highest ranking white marine is a three star general (OF9) and the highest ranking black marine is a Major (OF4). I guess you’re just bored!

    I could never be so proud of being involved in an illegal war, based on a pack of lies (spoiler, they all are) for the benefit and profit of the tribe. Not something I'd go shouting about. . . . . . . . and I was there, fucking ashamed of it.

      As a member of the Armed Force your duty is to serve and ultimately fight if required. You are sent by your Country into situations and places that you have no say or control over. Your only hope is that the Politicians have the same moral compass as you and are making those decisions for the right reasons. Hind sight is a great thing and the keyboard moralists have no more foresight than us ordinary mortals.
