Hi and thanks for sharing your thoughts and impressions of Sanctuary with us all here. I am glad to have more fans of this subgenre here who have been around and tested all the games. I keep going back to BAR as it has most QoL features and it has a new and expanding playerbase. But I do agree about the realistic look of SupCom and what this new game will bring back.
@@perafilozof I get that. The larger player base is nice and the QoL features are hard to live without afterwards. My friend base is also kind of torn between the two games. Some prefer BAR others FAF. I love the diversity you get between the different factions in FAF. Another friend hates BAR, because he feels, that early harassment is broken when you can run around with a few bots and kill all infrastructure in seconds. He is used to be able to defend well with the Commander, something that seems to be not so easy in BAR.
Me and 6 of my friends cant wait to play this game, we have spent endless hours playing forged alliance against eachother and AI. Really hoping they stick to the style of supcom here.
Hi and thank you for sharing. It will be similar to a point, but some things will be new or different like having up to 5 tech levels for some type of units and these levolution events when the map is blow up or frozen.
So far their work on performance and optimization has been exemplary if you consider for a mom the look of these units and buildings and the quality of the textures on them all
I know, I totally get that problem. A campaign is an expensive thing to make with an indie game budget. Especially for such a big and complex game. Actors, voiceovers, animations, cinematics, that is something that only AAA companies pull off in the quality that players enjoy.
Proper AI and campaign a stretch goals for upcoming kickstarter - both are very expensive to make, and devs need extra resources to do it. But even if they can not do it, the game is gonna be very accessible for moding, so it is only a matter of time until Ai/campaign is added into the game by community.
I've never played a single campaign map in TA or SupCom. The only reason is that I don't like being my units being locked until I get to a later level. Straight into skirmish to get accustomed to the factions and then straight to multi-player.

The early game really reminded me of BAR. I hope they provide a campaign or another form of gameplay that teaches you the basic mechanics and strategies the game has to offer. With 5 tiers they either have to be very similar or you need to know and learn quite a lot befor you can really enjoy the PvP. Which would keep the player base small. It will also be interesting how long a match will be, if you have 5 tiers available. But this sure will change a lot.
Hi and thank you for sharing your thoughts and impressions of this game. I do realize that since the game with have 5 tiers most matches between turtle players will go on for quite a while. But from my experience with BAR with skill level or tactics are different the matches end quickly(for this kind of a game). How long have you been playing BAR?
You can kinda skip T5 in consideration of a level, since it exists exclusively to separate end gamers from T4/Experimental units( All factions will have only 2 T5 units - sphere shatterer and Titan unit. Supcom FA also had end gamers like Mavor, Paragon, etc, but they were still placed on T4 stage. As a BAR example with my limited knowledge - T5 is like taking a Juggernaut, make it a bit stronger and put on new higher tier. It doesn't really add much extra complexity). Also about campaign and AI - thise are one of very high priority goals for Sanctuary devs, but how well they are done( or even at all in case of campaign) is gonna depends on how successful their upcomming kickstarter is gonna go.
@@perafilozof It got me through the pandemic. But lost me a little bit afterward because of life. Will look into BAR later this year. ^^ depending on how much time Satisfactory is asking for. Yes for the tiers it also depends on how quickly you get them. In BAR it was like 15-20min, if I remember correctly. In AoE 2 you can get them in ~5min. It's definitely interesting to have multiple tiers. Should open more windows for win-conditions if number advantage & strength are balanced.
@@volodymyr_budii ok got it. Sounds interesting, to explore what eco-comp balances you can build. Yeah, it's smart to wait for the Kickstarter. Veterans of the genre will pick it up in view matches and custom games. A campaign is nice to introduce new players to the mechanics. If you can ramp up the difficulty it's also to exercise certain aspects of the game. But most would do this online anyway. I wish the Devs the best of luck and i really hope they enjoy working on it.
Thx for the reply! You play Satisfactory too! I love that game! Stayed up until 4 AM to many times to count because of it. I had to cut myself off to stop :)

Hi and thanks for the comment. I would say the changes to the map during the game the player can activate as well as improved fidelity with insane unit counts. And if I am not mistaken more tech levels
-More asymmetrical factions -Drones( that partially replace the game mechanic of missiles and TMD + extra features) -Commander chassis - by using a t2 building you could change the entire hull of your commander to specialize it for a specific role, being it combat, base building, etc. Also each commander will have a unique ability - so far the only known one is EMP for EDA. - Weather control and sphere cracking -Transmitters for Guard - building/unit that boosts Intel and regeneration of other Guard units around it -Armor for EDA - extra line of HP that is cheap to repair and new units come with it by default, but it could also be added to buildings to make them stronger ( like fragile radars, etc). Also armor repair drones -Chosen focus more on shields and there will be different shenanigans around this. - Tons of QoL features, like better pathfinding, area commands, actually useful formation orders, built in customizable target priority system and more. - Better optimization and connection stability -Bunch of new units and other minor, yet interesting features/mechanics that are uknown/too long to explain.
Looks kinda cool . That said ... The in game factions dont seem very bright . Unless they can repair the Dison sphere , ripping out chunks of it seems like a very dumb idea.
The Sanctuary is absolutely massive, and these holes are not that big to it in comparison, and yea, they can repair it. If destroying a small bit of the sphere is gonna help you defeat the enemy faction faster, it means they will be able to do less damage in return.
Hi and thanks for the comment. Close, but not quite as it is planned to be bigger and better with new features like the ones shown here. Favorite factions in SupCom?

There will be a Kickstarter at the point that it is playable and players like yourself can make sure it is worth giving money for. Thank you for the comment. What are you playing now?
note that while you gave a lot of praise for the game in the first two minutes of the game, I do not quite see how this game is supposed to be that much better than BAR (beyond all reason), considering that BAR is free and available right now. specifically referring to this from a POV of "how are the added features supposed to justify the increased cost of buying a new RTS game which is not released yet" That might just be the cynic in me speaking though, considering many states of development nowadays (such as homeworld 3)
Hello and thank you for sharing your thoughts about this game. I fully understand that and it will take a while for all the new elements to start working and be part of the regular gameplay. I think for one the inclusion of weather effects and opening up holes in the ground will change the battlefield dynamic a lot. There are also more tech levels than you might realize and with them top level huge units. The graphics are also going to be an upgrade compared to other similar games.
@@perafilozofI would also add Commander actually being a usefull and fun combat unit - in BAR commander is very fragile, but also just one-shots anything with D-gun, so after first tier it is either hmyou one-shot enemy units first, or they absolutely shred you
@@perafilozof As an astronomy literate person, I gotta say that does not make sense, lol As for the game, I think the factions look generic, if only this game can merge with DORF game.
1)Fighting is on the outer surface of dyson sphere around our home Sun 2)Sanctuary has many holes spread out all around the surface that let some light out, which is then reflected back on surface with mirror satelites in space.

Radar shouldnt accessable at tier 1 since we already have scout as eyes, RADAR SHOULD be in t2 then advance radar in t3 and maybe some super radar as t4
Scouts can not properly provide such coverage because they will get killed all the time. having no t1 radar would be too annoying to deal with in my opinion
Hi and thank you for sharing your thoughts on the game. I know it might look rough on the edges and incomplete but it is coming along nicely. Which faction did you like more?
I'm gonna say it now, Some of the Assets, the map in particular looks ripped from Supreme Commander. and that alien like Faction looks like it ripped some assets from the Aeon.
Hi and thank you for sharing your impressions and thoughts about the game with us. That is understandable. It is the inspiration after all. But I don't think anything was copy pasted. Inspired at most. What are you playing these days?
Developer who worked on Chosen faction is the one who also made RVE mod for supcom 2, which is where all his inspiration from Aeon is comming from. And of course the maps are gonna be similar looking - if devs want to make a better version of supcom, why would the maps look much different?
Hi and thx for sharing your thoughts on this subject. I get that. But with maps this big, it isn't going to work with units running on foot. Which faction looks best to you?
Rip did't post my comment let's try again.. I am really loving this game but it worries me so much. I saw some kind of stretch goal when they reach a milestone they will implement ai. But unless at the point you want to redo everything the ai is going to be the most basic rudimentary shit there is.. That worries me. If the ai is stupid i am not going to play this game. You cannot really add ai after the fact things need to be taken into account when making sometime to work with ai. If they want to do it right later they have to throw away large chunks of everything... It looks good some units i do not vibe with but might grow on me , does look like a copy from supreme commander what is radically different? Sure levelution is cool and the map is probably a test map , more for showing it off then being a good map. But i don't see much naval play on that map if you can just shut it down, how long does that take enough warning?
Hi and thank you for the comment. I see this one :) Yes, they have "this" AI testing, but they want good AI that can use tech tiers and give players a good challenge. That is costly. I understand it is a core feature of any RTS, but these folks don't do anything half-baked. They could give us bad AI with tons of cheating going on, but they want to give us proper AI. Not what you have in most RTS where the AI is close to brain dead and can only compete against the human with x10 resources. It is a very interesting way to base development on. So we all have to wait and see how it turns out. Thank you kindly for this comment and sharing your thoughts and fears. What are you playing right now btw?
@@perafilozof Supreme Commander still it is just that good. With the LOUD mod the ai is actually smart and very competent. I wish they had the source code they could do so much more. Yea i do want it to succeed and beat or be comparable to supcom we need more games like it.
1)This stretchgoal is 2 years old and may very likely be outdated 2)Devs are making the game being easy to mod, so regardless of tyeir kickstarter success, modding in AI is only a matter of time. 3)There will be plenty of different new features, like commander chassis, drones, armor( second HP line for EDA, that can be cheapely repaired on units, or can be additionaly put on buildings to increase HP), regeneration and transmitter mecganics for Guard, shield shenanigans gir chosen, some multilehhed units being able to walk across hills etc, all units with 4/5 or more legs moving omnidirectionaly, tons of QoL features, different nukes for every faction, new units/experimentals with new concepts, and so much more , since we didn't hear almost any interesting stuff about air and navy yet, but obviously, devs didn't have time to implement all of it yet. If you want to make a wonderful uniquely designed and decorated house, you furst have to build the foundation, the walls, the roofs, and of course on the stage of this construction, it is gonna look boring, similar, and uninspiring, but only after you are done with it, youcan start painting the house, setting furniture, backyard and everything else that would make it good and unique. Right now, devs are only finishing the core of the game to make sure it works, and after it is done, they could start working full on unique features and mechanics. Just give them time. 3)No naval gameplay because navy wasn't properly implemented yet, devs have focused on making land( and air after that) work first. Those few ships were put there to show possible strategic ysage of weather control. 4)Even if Sanctuary was a complete copy paste of supcom, it would have still been completely worth it for proper multithread optimization, pathfinding, connection stability, better graphics, much more accessible modding( which was already proved on practice on their discord server, when one of T5 patreon members who got access to pre-alpha started meddling with units and giving them different weapons) and bunch of QoL features. 5)Idk, but I guess your warning about possible weather change is you scouting that enemy got control of that particular building or seeing that he is going for the destruction of one. If you don't want to have your navy frozen, keep control of that area and preferably, have a backup plan in case it does get frozen(also, devs were talking about possible ice breaking ships)

Yeah, being able to defend early on is a skill in BAR. Something you have to learn or live with the fact you will never be good at it.
I hope you will enjoy this look at early gameplay and tell me what you think of this Levolution in RTS.
If those possibilities also don't melt GPUs and CPUs it sounds really interesting.
So far their work on performance and optimization has been exemplary if you consider for a mom the look of these units and buildings and the quality of the textures on them all
Pure PVP only, the game won't have a campaign at release. This removes half of the playerbase that could be interested in this :(
I know, I totally get that problem.
Thank you for the comment!
Thanks for the info all I play is single player RIP
I've never played a single campaign map in TA or SupCom. The only reason is that I don't like being my units being locked until I get to a later level.

Hehe, true that! I think so too. What similar games have you played before?
The first TA/SupCom inspired game I've been looking forward to. I loved the sense of scale in those games with the massive maps and how huge the units were (even the tech 1 scout bots are the same size as most trees on the map), and so far no other game has managed that. Planetary Annihilation had an interesting idea with the solar system and all, but this led to the scale actually feeling miniscule as your units could flank an army _by going around the entire planet in just a minute or so lol_
This actually feels massive in scale and I'm so looking forward to it

Seems pretty wild, though I'm hoping they add a bit more character to the units. FAF had some pretty clear unit styles that could be noticed from pretty high up. This versions units seem a little too similar sometimes.

That is how every grand scale RTS deals with huge maps and battles.

This gives supreme commander vibes
Indeed it does. Which SupCom was your favorite?
As a sort of Supreme Commander 'remastered' this looks pretty good, but what does this game bring in to add to the SupCom formula?
Hi and thanks for the comment. I would say the changes to the map during the game the player can activate as well as improved fidelity with insane unit counts. And if I am not mistaken more tech levels
-More asymmetrical factions
-Drones( that partially replace the game mechanic of missiles and TMD + extra features)
-Commander chassis - by using a t2 building you could change the entire hull of your commander to specialize it for a specific role, being it combat, base building, etc.
Also each commander will have a unique ability - so far the only known one is EMP for EDA.
- Weather control and sphere cracking
-Transmitters for Guard - building/unit that boosts Intel and regeneration of other Guard units around it
-Armor for EDA - extra line of HP that is cheap to repair and new units come with it by default, but it could also be added to buildings to make them stronger ( like fragile radars, etc). Also armor repair drones
-Chosen focus more on shields and there will be different shenanigans around this.
- Tons of QoL features, like better pathfinding, area commands, actually useful formation orders, built in customizable target priority system and more.
- Better optimization and connection stability
-Bunch of new units and other minor, yet interesting features/mechanics that are uknown/too long to explain.
Thank you for writing all that out!

Hehe, true. But are we fixing the only Planet we have after tearing it apart with wars, mining and deforestation?
The Sanctuary is absolutely massive, and these holes are not that big to it in comparison, and yea, they can repair it. If destroying a small bit of the sphere is gonna help you defeat the enemy faction faster, it means they will be able to do less damage in return.

Having no human infantry units is a big turn off in RTS games for me honestly.
I see this one :)
Yes, they have "this" AI testing, but they want good AI that can use tech tiers and give players a good challenge.
Yeah, but it is old, and few people want to spend the time required to do so. Most want to make something new.
1)This stretchgoal is 2 years old and may very likely be outdated
2)Devs are making the game being easy to mod, so regardless of tyeir kickstarter success, modding in AI is only a matter of time.
Oh nice, great info and breakdown there my friend! Thank you kindly for this comment and helping out with setting the record straight on these features. I agree with you 100% and hope such features become playable for all of us.
Calling it 'levolution' is a disgrace.
Or is it really just scripted and artificial?
It is set up in advance and activated by players when they take control over some specific places on the map. Thx for sharing your impressions. Which faction do you like most?
Right now, it is script only, but if devs will have enough resources, they will try to make it possible to happen at whatever spot of the map.
@@perafilozof Oh, then I take no issue with your wording. In this case it describes it exactly.
Thank you. Glad you approve
what dyson sphere works with the population livin on the outershell ?? "confused" if i can drop down the enemies into the sun im on the wrong side... and where is the light coming from when the sun is "below" me..... just so many questions
Hi, you can learn more about it in the games discord, but as for the lore the mirrors in orbit reflect sunlight escaping through many holes. What do you think of the factions so far?
One to keep an eye on @splattercat
Hehe, true. Thank you for the comment
