Just started watching your videos. Trying to learn more about the dairy farm industry my family owns a couple farms in Tennessee mainly horses and some beef Mostly Hay- straw Potatoes and pumpkins. I have one question what was that white liquid that you added into the mix?
It is whey. There's a local Cheese plant here about 5 Mi away from us. They process around the 150 loads of milk a week. We feed a total of around 6 truck loads of whey each week, that comes from that plant. There is some energy value in it and salts and enzymes from the cheese process. Each truckload has around 5000 gallons, so we feed a total of around 30,000 gallons a week. Most of it is fed free choice. They drink it out of troughs. We have been feeding it for around 15 years.
