blocking with signs was a great tip 👍 .. i tested the bows (stormfang, rootfang and spinesnap) with the silver arrows and root armor for the +bow skill 😁 . looked like, it worked the best with the spinesnap (additional spirit dmg). took 101 arrows (a few of them missed, as he wandered arount in his tomb)...
Washed ashore at the first sight of land, and got a runestone for the boss immediately. After many arduous turns I made a base around a morgen cave by raising the ground in a cube shape to form a safe space, and grausten floors on the very top of the inside walls to deal with the locals. Made sure the walls were high enough so that no lava blobs could jump in and then I could safely start to properly build inside. Managed to trap a couple asksvins in a sealed off part and found a fort nearby. Later I bumped into a morgen cave surrounded by a building and, voila, there Lord Reto was. Honestly didn't want to bother losing skills with how shit the combat system is pared with server desynch etc so I just went with your (great) tip of signs and silver arrowed him to where he belongs. Dead. Thanks!
I found a glitch where if you place a camp fire and burn him he'll retreat and go to certain corner of the room and does nothing. If you attack him he doesn't seem to react but after a couple of seconds he'll snap out of it and chase you again.
I used the root bow and 3 stacks of frost arrows, had a lingering stamina potion on me, literally spammed it to death and it didnt even get close to me
I'm here late, sorry, but is it even possible to parry his attacks? I have blocking soon level 100, and would like to test it, but since I have 0 deaths with this character, I dont want to die if its literally impossible.
With blocking level 100 and flametal shield level 3 you can block 189 DMG. 189 X 1,5 parry bonus = 283,5 DMG you can parry Since all his attacks do way more then 283,5 DMG you can't parry him. Did you try it? :D
really appreciate your work with numbers and spreadsheets, but this time you overlooked probably the easiest way of fighting Reto (maybe on par with nature staff), which is high-knockback secondary attack of one-handed maces, that allows you to just stand still and he can never hit u if u dont mess up the timing (reference: th-cam.com/video/hE1Qo5PalUA/w-d-xo.html )
Staff of the Wild is overpowered after the buff. With 77 elemental magic my roots hit for 200-265 damage. I honestly might stop using it because it completely trivializes the Ashlands.
Frostner is also a very easy way to kill him. Just stand in place and use the uppercut middle mouse attack whenever he gets close enough. He will get knocked back and miss his swing. Rinse and repeat, the spirit damage of frostner is even higher than the mistwalker and will kill pretty efficiently.
While that is true, the silver sword actually does 50% more dps than the frostner (2:44) and the krom is even higher than that. However, I'd assume anyone who is facing Lord Reto probably has access to some Ashlands-level weapons and all of them except the spears will be significantly better than the frostner even at lvl 1.
@@back-to-basics-gaming Of course it has less damage, but the the knockback of the frostner is what makes the fight very easy because you never get hit and just use one button. It's certainly not the fastest way to kill him, but it is very easy. Arguably you could do the same with any mace including the flametal+gem mace, which would make the frostner the second best mace for that particular startegy and you might already have it.
@@Alron222 Use Flametal mace or Klossen. Does the same thing your talking about but better and with more damage. Frostner is from Mountains, it's not good in the Ashlands (it may be better than the Porcupine but that isn't fierce competition).
@@BeezerGutlr While yes, the flametal mace & derivatives are probably better, I disagree that the frostner is not good in ashlands. Yes it's lower damage (though still relevant amounts), but it makes up for that by having way lower stamina cost and and built in slow and knockback. This makes it great for surviving by avoiding getting hit. I'd say it's one of the best weapons for landing in the ashlands, and also as a backup weapon as a mage in the ashlands, because of the low stamina cost and control it offers. And the harder the world difficulty, the better these things get. Frostner is technically mountain tier, but the unique combination of effects it offers make it useful in all later biomes including the ashlands.
Seed with 6000+ days on it ruined by that sword. Because there's only one and different people got their hands on shards and didn't want to cooperate it caused war. Castles/Holds that took literal months to build individually were destroyed out of spite and one shard is supposedly now cast into the Ocean. Thanks dev team...really thought that one out didn't ya?
“Deep north drop in 2030” boy I really hope not but you can’t rush perfection!

They should add a retro special event that drops the fragments so more than one dyrnwyn can be crafted on each server
A trophy that looks like a big blue sword would also be cool

He seems to loss targeting fairly frequently if he hasn't been able to get a hit in a while

Sounds about right. That's exactly why I recommended the root fang over the storm fang.
Fight him with the heaviest armor on, while slow and wet/cold while only using your fists to attack. No food
Found him today, used demolisher, while walking around the pillar, don't wanna mess with 2* melee, screw him! =)
just use Dundr staff and keep knocking him back - gg
That works but it's a bit slower
That would take so long. Lol. Way better to just use the SotW.
if I turn the loot up to 1.5 can i make 2 of them.. say yes!

@@ichduersiees4908 well , with carapace buckler at 100 can block 338 .... but this thing is the most hard hit mob in the game so , still cant ....
I've found his tomb accidentally, we killed it with bow and magic roots
I destroyed him with Brutal Slayer on my 1st try. It was an epic sword fight! But yeah... he hits very hard, even with Bonemass powers

You are right that is a completely viable option. I hadn't thought to try that at time of recording. The description has now been edited.
Used this method today. Green maze uppercut, when the effects applys and paralyzies reto, shot him arrows. Very easy fight
how do you spawn reto using console commands ?
f5
devcommands
spawn Charred_Melee_Dyrnwyn 1 3
@@back-to-basics-gaming much thanks
I fought him with Nidhögg and survived... barely
Kinda wish he had some sort of special move 😓
Oh well
His special move is killing you in one shot ;p
Yeah if he had a ranged attack it wouldn't be such a freebie for magic users.
you ask too much for this lazy devs lol
The hammer was enough for me
Lrd Reto -------------------- Frostner axtraattack nuke tactiks. (any hammer, club)

Nahh the mobs gotta pay for what they put me through after me 1st encounters in the Ashlands
You should actually get a primal weapon and root him and then attack with a better weapon
even with a primal weapon reto can still attack from the front , sometimes is a little hard in this little cave go for his back

you 100% rights - against war - club/hammer
Used vines to kill him it was easy never died once
I actually killed him easily with the troll stav. Why the author says it's useless is stupid.
because you can't use the Trollstav inside of dungeons anymore. that's why it's useless here.
this get olds pretty bad
Deep North in 2030? :(
if we are being optimistic
Judging by the dev team I give it 2 years max
@@kirilleveratt8170 tbh, if this will be last biome they are gonna do, i can wait 2 years, even 3, but make it so good i will never forget
given the time between Mistlands and Ashlands, 2025/early 2026 is likely when the Far North update will be released.
