Samo: taming an asksvin, preferably a 2 star will be one of the first things you want to do in the ashlands Also samos: 2 stars appear at night, so you need decent ashlands tier gear.
Thank you for the comment! You are correct I made this during the test realm and didnt see them in my testing but once it came out I see the 1 stars all the time during the day! and they are easy to get im going to cover that briefly in my new video!
I was thinking of doing a video covering fable 1 like what it was meant to be, kind of commentary video would you be interested in something like that Keandros? I actually bought a over 20 year old game informer magazine on ebay that talks about project ego (fables name before it became fable)
I really appreaciate you citing sources and things like that and saying when you're not particularly sure about something. Great to see that you don't like spreading around wrong information
Thanks man! Most of this info ended up being accurate! But i feel like my new video is still a better asksvin guide! If you get time id love your opinion!
Can confirm, crouching on the sulfur arch where they spawn and throwing food down will get the job done. The yellow icon doesn't seem to impact the taming. Only the red "!" icon does. Just beware, Dvrger roam the ashlands and could end up killing them if you don't block the area off.
4:12 they do work like (2-star) wolves, a 2-star asksvin jumped me near dawn. By the time I had it trapped in a hastily dug pit, it was day and it was too busy trying to run away and despawn to eat. After waiting until next night all was fine though, it ate a fiddlehead and taming could start.
Thank you so much for watching! Just a few Updates: 1 Star Asksvin do spawn ( a lot) during the day! Eggs take 30 mins to hatch and calfs 50mins to grow to adults!
This definately help me and my team mate alot! Thank you for teaching us how to tame it and its very very helpful for us exploring more lands on ashland. Thankss!!❤
Note: I believe Asksvins will NOT breed if a ceiling is built too low over their heads. They require some clearance above them (over 10m to be safe?). (Probably should be mentioned around 4:50)
This is not true, at least as far as lox are concerned. Lox *can* breed under a covered roof, it just has to be at least 10m taller than the lox. The problem lies in the fact that they are a 'large' creature, and 'see' things from the perspective of a troll. Therefore, if the roof is too low, they can't 'see' the food to path to it.
Just a wild idea, would be nice if you could actually ride the asksvin like a knight/cavalry. Imagine catching an enemy attack with a parry, staggering them, then your purple hul... asksvin takes a nice bite out of the enemy. Or at least shooting with bows, crossbows and staffs.
Yes mounted combat would be sick , you could dismount and stand on them and use your bow I was already doing that on lox while hunting lol but they are a larger platform for sure.
haha , makes me happy someone noticed! Glad you liked it! The first fable is one of my all time favorite games and the valheim characters have a similar fun animation to the fable characters or is that just me?
ATM it is a bit useless as it runs of to any mob, basically if you ride it in ashlands if you turn your back at any given point it will ghost you and go to the nearest target losing the asksvin and the saddle.
@@Samoooooooothat would be lovely. Or at least, give them a maximum leash range like many mods in the game, over that, they return to their original position, especially for asksvin equipped with the saddle.
And they can't jump. Just lost one by hitting a pile of downed trees where I got caught up by a big group who almost one shot it. Fortunately managed it later so have a ton of lizards popping 1 star eggs (2 on the tooltip). They do not need to be that near to fire to be warm. Mine are all working in a seperate room.
I tamed a one star and rode it around today, good fun, though they need to adjust the healing Regen when fed, as it's presumably only balanced for boars and wolves, so it's very slow for high hp tames.
I love the new Askvins, the problem I have with them in the ashlands is there are too many enemies that spawn and impossible to keep them still long enough to heal them with food. I wish they made it so you could command the Askvin to be neutral to mobs and would stand still but thats probably too much to ask.
I tamed the first pair with a hole, which I surrounded walls with. Once they got tamed, after a few minutes an airstrike came in over the walls and completely annihilated both askers. Had to do the whole thing again, which was super freaking frustrating... but then I completely blocked off the hole, breaking all line of sight towards the outside, so no creature beyond my little taming hole knew we were in there.... Had them pop 2 eggs and off I was. I can't imagine how had it could be to get a 2star egg
I found one naturally at night, so im assuming it works like wolves where they only spawn at night , still very rare though only a 1% chance so it could take you 10 nights or searching sometimes
Do you know whether tamed asksvin's attack(esp. the jump attack) has any friendly fire? Untamed asksvin's jump attack has that. Just want to make sure not getting one-shot by my 2* companion.
Every time I try to ride my 1 star askevin in the Ashlands I lose them within minutes no matter what I do, because I get mobbed and swarmed to death. Is there a trick I'm missing?
I ended up making two holes when I did it, next to each other, then destroying the ground between them when done taming. Cover the holes too just in case dvergrs wonder over.
Asksinvs dont attack each other even if one is tamed and one is not they will do a headbutt if they sense enemies outside the hole if that hits the other asksvin it will do friendly fire damage but if the hole is deep enough they wont sense enemies and try to do attacks.
Just an FYI since you were mentioning words that are hard to say... "sinew" is another word for "tendon", it connects bones to each other and to muscles. Pronounced SIN-yoo.
@@Samoooooooo This is from an old joke about how to trap a bear. You dig a pit, then take a fish and burn it in the pit until it's ash. Then when the bear comes to the pit to investigate the smell, you sneak up on it and kick it in the ash-hole! I look forward to dragging some asksvins into an ask-hole to tame them.
So, turns out it's not as easy as expected! I tamed a 1*, but it almost died to a randomly night-spawned Valkyrie (was waiting on taming its mate), then at low health died to a nearby morgen. I tamed the mate (no star), but it also died to a 1* warrior that got knocked into its pit. I think I need to build an outer wall to keep the baddies away! Also, mounted asksvins CANNOT be taken through portals.
Came just to tell everyone how Sh..t this taming asksvin is. Dont believe this video, its just useless. Riding is THE worst mechanic in this game maybe any game. You have close to zero control over your ride. And they wont follow you like wolfs. Just forget it and tame only for meat. This video cost me 2 hours of my life, dont let it waste your time too.....
On a serious note though, at least with controller they are really easy to ride , but yes if you stop controlling them or get off them they are spazzoids and run away so you gotta change how you think about them they arent wolves. When you ride them out to battle think of them as disposable. and the no star asksvin in further research is pretty useless in the ashlands you need the 1 star at min. Wolves still have their place , they are actually probably better for base defense because the fact that asksvins wander hella far away and do damage to structures but they can be super useful to breed like 60 up in your ashlands base and let them spread out but im going to cover that in my next video maybe that will help give you an idea how to use them most effectively and I do appreciate the constructive criticism and hopefully the next video will feel like you didnt waste your time , have a wonderful day :D
Samo: taming an asksvin, preferably a 2 star will be one of the first things you want to do in the ashlands

Lol, first thing tame a 1 star when you geared then go after a 2 star. At some point, upgrade to a 2 star. You know what I was getting at though.
Boy when you said " I wanna tame a serpent" i immediately thought "oh yes, me too." Would definitely be an interesting pet to have.
you can drag it in a moat with harpoon and trap it as base defense. then its like a base pet :)
Just to note, 1 star Asksvins can spawn during the daytime also. I've countered many and have tamed some but haven't had luck with 2 star Asksvin.

You definitely need a crafting bench nearby the food so it doesn't despawn.
Good Tip!!
That happened to us 😭
dont the items despawn after one hour and they need 30 minute to tame?

a question to have 2 star offspring , you need 2 2 stars askvin mating ? , or just one is enough ?

You can also swim in the ashlands water with them and not take damage from the heat
good point, they just run out of stam pretty fast so its not reliable for long journeys
