Recently had a bad client experience that made me take a step back and look at all the ways I could do better as a freelancer. Huge improvements made from that alone. Make sure your contracts are solid and it’ll help ❤️

@@Artpsychee no I did they are like the creative freedom type client, said do I what I think is best so I did but it didn't feel right to them, so 3 revision rounds and 2 months later I've redesigned the website and changed the colours and it looks completely different and I'm probably gonna lose money

Excellent video! Super thorough and very good points. I’ve gone through experiences with so many of these kinds of clients. A learning experience every time, for sure :)

MAN, absolutely incredible insights! I’m telling you - your thoughts hold TRUTH!
I’m new in the game - yet have experienced a total baptism since 2020.
My design mentor periodically reminds me that: “20% of my clients will take up 80% of my time NEGATIVELY.” And, my job is to identify what makes a taxing client, and eliminate them as quickly as possible early on.
But, I’ve absolutely picked up plenty of new tips from your thoughts - without a doubt! Thanks greatly again for the video! 🇺🇸

It can be hard to be assertive when you're starting out and you kind-of "need" the project for your Portfolio. How do i get around radiating that?

You don’t need clients from hell. You’re feeling desperate, but you can’t find better clients if you are wasting all your time with awful ones. It can be hard to turn down work when you’re desperate but you have to be disciplined and either turn them down or charge them out the ass. There’s a certain price point at which any client becomes a joy to work with. It’s easy to put up with their BS if they give you a million dollars haha. Acting like you are busy and only able to work with clients who are a great fit actually raises your perceived value anyways. It makes you seem exclusive and in high demand. Sometimes turning down work when you need it is the best thing you can do. Be confident and trust in yourself. You got this without nightmare clients.

@@josiahbaumgartner7643 I would also add that if you need a portfolio, you can always build mock websites to show to potential clients. Additionally, with mock websites, you can decide precisely what skills in terms of design you want to show. As the girl from Flux Academy said, you can also learn a lot from bad clients. I did it myself with my first two projects. However, I have to point out that even though those bad clients of mine were thrilled with the final results, I was not happy at all because I felt exploited. You need to be happy too to be able to enjoy your quality work.
