    Thanks for watching! Many people have been concerned about subscription based plugins and I completely understand the concerns. This plugin is available to buy as a one off, perpetual license or as a subscription depending on which suits you better.
    I would never promote a plugin which forced users into a subscription model!
    Thanks!

    Some people are skeptical of paid product reviews. I've followed Michael long enough to believe his reviews and opinions are always honest. He does a fantastic job of educating us. I am a capitalist and believe in people making money. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this tutorial. I've only worked with recorded vocals once, but I ended up using an automation clip on the global pitch knob to make small tweaks at extremely short intervals. It was... tedious, to say the least. But it looks like this plugin will make that process much more manageable - I'm excited to try it!

      Consider just buying the perpetual license for MetaTune if you don't want the entire Slate subscription. Of course, if you DO want to pay the subscription for all the other stuff it comes with, that's up to you.
      Just wanted to let you know you can buy MetaTune by itself in a one-time payment

      @kingo5940 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cause then I think I'm just gonna buy it alone yes

    • @mgmg116
      @mgmg116 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kingo5940 If you just buy MetaTune by itself, you pay the cost upfront, and just once ($199).
      If you buy the Access Pass, you get access to EVERYTHING that Slate Digital makes (synths, samplers, compressors, EQs, stereo imagers, reverbs, SSL emu plugins, vocal strips, etc) and you get the full version. But for this, you pay every month.
      Since the price is like $10/month for dozens of plugins, it's meant to look like a more attractive offer.
      Personally, I don't like subscription services at all. They seem like they're cheaper at first, but you end up paying more in the long run and you don't own a copy of any of the plugins.
      I think rent-to-own is a better model than monthly/yearly subscriptions, but of course, up-front onetime purchase will always be best.

    Can you do a video about this vocal mixing?

  • @mgmg116
    @mgmg116 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You know, I saw the first few demo videos and I just wasn't convinced. I thought "This is just another AutoTune clone, like Waves Tune. If I want T-Pain, I'll use AutoTune, but if I want to be serious, I'll stick with Melodyne."
    And honesty, Michael, you've changed my mind.
    This is the first time I'm reconsidering owning either of them.
    I could tell immediately when you pushed the Retune speed to 0ms.
    When I do it in AutoTune, it's always jumpy and requires manual editing in order to tame, so that the vocal snaps to pitch correctly without jumping all over the scale I've set for it.
    T-Pain's vocals have always been done with AutoTune, but they always sounded so controlled and refined - obviously because the Graphic Mode was likely being used to clean up that "jumpiness".
    But you loaded up MetaTune, cranked it right up to 0ms, and I instantly recognized the "perfect T-Pain" sound. No jumpiness, no scale randomness, the vocal was being fixed to the proper notes and the effect sounded so refined.
    And considering how well it works with regular old vocal tuning, I'm strongly considering not upgrading AT or Melodyne in the future and just buying MetaTune instead.
    Anybody else feel the same way?

    Something to note, don't just throw on autotune, or in this case, metatune, and call it a day. If you're looking for a more natural sound with metatune, do make sure that you have a good performance because it will push or pull to the nearest note within the scale, and they could sing a little too flat or sharp where it may hit the wrong note within the mix. So make sure you got a good performance or tune it up or down to the right note manually with melodyne or built-in vocal editor. Sometimes just going in and just pitch edit manually and having meta or autotune on top of it sounds even better and you can back off even more on the autotune settings or push it to be even more accurate in the context of the mix.

    • @inthemix
      @inthemix  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. Sometimes if 2 notes are adjacent and the singer was closer to the “wrong” note, it will correct it to that note instead. It will still be in tune but completely throw off the melody.
      I’m lucky that I haven’t had this issue with metatune yet but it’s a good bit of advice to share!

    • @mgmg116
      @mgmg116 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're both acceptable, but this video shows that MetaTune blows both out of the water. It seems to be using a harmonizer-based audio engine like Melodyne does, but it also seems as if it was AI-trained because it's exceedingly good at narrowing down pitch drift and pitch modulation, which was the entire reason I bought Melodyne over AutoTune.
      Considering MetaTune is like $100 cheaper than AT, that's just another reason for me to consider never updating my Antares license and just buying MetaTune

    Can you buy this individually? Like without a subscription? This looks insane but I'd rather not be tied down by yet another monthly payment

    • @inthemix
      @inthemix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, it’s available to buy as a standalone plugin with a perpetual (lifetime) license or as part of the subscription bundle. I recommend the subscription bundle for newcomers and those who want to experiment and the one off purchase for those who want to use it long term :)

    Wow. Looks like a decent melodyne replacement. I've been so fucked up lately spending 2-3 hours on correcting 1 minute vocal tracks. Definitely gotta get the trial and see if it works out.

    • @STAR0SS
      @STAR0SS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really a melodyne replacement since you can't specify the note it's correcting to, but if you don't need too much correction these kind of tuners will do the job.

    • @赤垢-x6e
      @赤垢-x6e 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Now what vox are you tuning where it takes 2-3 hours to tune one minute... mans missed every note LMAO

    • @linuxuser2142
      @linuxuser2142 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@赤垢-x6e the point is not about the amount of missed notes, but about a million times you listen to your phrases over and over again, trying to understand whether you like it or not. Melodyne is also not to be replaced when you try to fake a note (sing G and then make A out of it) haha

    When I use this plugin in FL Studio 20 newwest version the GUI has a weird glitch in it where I can't see all the parameters. Any idea of how to fix this? Already uninstalled and reinstalled. The only way i've got it to work is to use it in bridged mode but then it doesn't save the settings when I open the project again (in bridged mode) smh.

      just use it in chromatic scale. it means that vocals will be corrected to any of the semitones. using the chromatic scale is also safer in vocals containing portamento

    • @inthemix
      @inthemix  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the doubler is one of my favourite features in all honesty. It's designed for monophonic signals but you could feed a stem of vocals into this and "double" a whole group for thickness if needed. I have not tried this so do check for phase cancelling and make sure it sounds good in headphones and speakers too :)
