- Autotune Pro has so many amazing features, but it can be hard to know exactly what they’re all doing. In this Autotune Pro tutorial we dive deep and crack that code to understanding Autotune in a whole new way. Master Retune Speed, Flex Tune, & Humanize to get perfectly in tune vocals every time.
Im going to show you how to get natural sounding tuning from Autotune, without having to do it all manually. Yes - you CAN use "auto" mode and get natural vocals!

Elite autotune tutorial. Thanks for making me sound human
Anytime! Truth is - you don’t need any autotune, but that makes for a good tutorial demo because I can count on it snapping to the right notes 🙌🏼
this is probably the best explanation of autotune i’ve ever seen on youtube, I’ve been using the knobs in many different ways but know that i can actually see the work that it’s doing by using the graph option, i can REALLY start using autotune right.Thank you very much,I think you’ll help more people than you believe ❤️
Thank you SO much for this positive feedback! That's exactly what I was hoping to achieve by making this video. Before I dove in and did this analysis I was also just turning knobs and hoping I was doing the right thing lol! I know this video swings a bit more technical than most so I really appreciate you watching. Thanks!
Agreed!!! Great job.
Thanks so much!!
straight to the point, cohesive and comprehensive and no-bullshit tutorial. Can't thank you enough. What went from random button mashing, knob turning and praying it sounds right- is now with clear purpoise and understanding. Don't even get me started on the graph mode, this video made me feel like becoming fluent in chinese
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the kind words and valuable feedback
In Antares's original TH-cam channel, FLEX TUNE was described as "creating no man's land between scale notes" So it is your "don't do anything area" and when it is 100% you basically tell algorithm to don't do anything. They said they designed it for Natural Vibrato setting. Because when Natural Vibrato was too deep, algorithm were tuning the Vibrato rather than leaving it. So when you create a "forbidden area" with FLEX TUNE setting algorithm allows Natural Vibrato to happen.
I wonder how to use autotune when singing with just intonation.

This is the best Autotune explanation I've ever heard ... Chapeau 🎩
Thanks so much! Appreciate you watching :)
Great explanation. Well thought out.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
Bro Thank You for those clear explanations!
Anytime! Thanks for watching!
Once again, great video dude. With the melodyne tutorial and this, vocal tuning has become very easy and natural sounding. Would love a video from you on compressor attack and release settings and how they affect dynamics. Keep it up man.
Thanks so much for watching and for the video suggestion! Could definitely do some compression and dynamics videos!
very good video. thanks
Thank you! Really appreciate the feedback 🙏🏻
I just got a Headrush Prime guitar board and it has AutoTune for vocals as well. I’ve played around and found something that works, but had no idea what was going on. Your video really helped me understand what’s going on. Thank you! Now I’m going to go fix or rework the settings.
That’s awesome! Thanks so much for sharing. I always appreciate the feedback and so happy you found the video helpful. Also - I must check out this Headrush pedal! Is it like a multi fx processor?
@@MichaelWuerth It’s mostly a guitar modeler board, but it also has some vocal processing like Antares Autotune.

This was very helpful
Thanks!! Happy it helped and I appreciate you watching
Nice video 👍
Thanks so much! I appreciate the feedback 😊
Ty Micheal!! This video is THE video for autotune💯
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you watching and thanks for the positive feedback 🙌🏼
I downloaded and installed everything, now how do I access the interface? Do I need to install a different program to be able to use it?
What DAW are you working in?
@@MichaelWuerth I`m completely new to auto tune. I went and downloaded the trial version, I'm not sure if they give me a interface or I need to use it with another program.
what a champ! you've broken them down so beautifully, every bit of it was concisely precise. Apparently, it's the best tutorial I've gotten. I'd love to learn more about the advanced parameters too. Thank You🙏
Thanks so much for positive feedback! That’s so kind. I’m definitely due for another autotune video soon and happy to cover the advanced parameters!
amazing production quality on this video. sounds great!!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate the feedback :)
Absolutely superb tutorial. Thanks so much; I'm already able to make better decisions and adjustments. Still lots of learning to come, but this is exactly what I was seeking.
Thanks so much Erik! Really appreciate you watching and the positive feedback :)
Very good explanation. Let me ask ,
1. Have compared Xpitch or Waves Tune. Are they equal for natural singing (not robotic effect)
2. I own Repitch Standard and MetaPitch and Waves Tune. Is the graph mode the same or as good as Repitch?
I’m trying to figure out is auto tune worth it. The graph mode seems useful to understand rather than guess.
I haven’t use Xpitch, Repitch, or MetaPitch. I do really like Waves tune though!
If you’re looking for an upgraded graphical editor I would recommend Melodyne over Autotune. But if you’re looking for an upgrade that has both real time and graphical editing then Autotune is a great option.
@ thanks. I think I’ll stick with repitch and waves. Repitch kind of does the heavy lifting. I’ll try a trial of auto tune just for reference. Very good video
@@MichaelWuerth One more thing if I tune my guitar a half step down playing in A that scale should be changed to G# in autotune or Waves right? Leave the reference at 440
nice video, Lil Snap!
😆 thank you!!
Nice video bro, u explain very well 🙏🏽
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the feedback!
Great tutorial, I learned a lot!
Thanks for watching and for the positive feedback! Much appreciated!
best tutorial for this plugin for sure !
Thank you!! 🙌🏼 and thanks for watching
Thank you so much for that deep dive tutorial! It helped alot!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching
Amazing video! Please keep exploring and do more on autotune!
Thank you!! Really appreciate the feedback! Anything specific you’d like to see in a future video?
Thank you bro!

thank you bro! Very clear and helpful! Much appreciated.
Thanks so much for watching and for the positive feedback!
Absolutely the best tutorial on YT . Thanks a million 🎉
Wow thank you so much! Really appreciate you watching and for the positive feedback :)

I dont know what to buy Autotune or Melodyne?
Please advise
Thanks so much!
@@MichaelWuerthI edited my comment above
Thanks
Honestly depends on your needs, style of music, etc. I have a video covering some of that which I'll link too. Eventually, you may find that you need both. I often use Melodyne first to tune it all manually, and then layer Autotune on top bc it gives it a cool vibe and sound

@@MichaelWuerth Michael, I dint know
I have been a musician for 40 years, playing the guitar, but recently started using FL Studio, a d want to start recording people.
Some if my mixes are on my channel.
I dont have any confidence tho, and recently lost my job
It's 00:54.... And your tutorial got me mixing vocals 😢i need to sleep
Haha I can relate! Get some sleep and mix with fresh ears ;)
Good video Michael
Thank you!!
Hey! I installed the Autotune plug in and when I insert it on my vocal track in Ableton my voice stops from sounding but the other instruments continue as normal. If I add the autotune into the mixer, then ALL instruments stop sounding and only silence remains. I haven't find any explanation to this issue yet, so I hope someone can help me and let me know how can I solve it !
I’m sorry - I don’t use ableton so unfortunately I can’t help you personally. Hope you find a solution!
how you drawed the sine wave in ?
Terrific explanations and love the graphical examples. Will you consider doing one for Waves Harmony?
Thanks so much! And yes - I’d be happy to! I appreciate you watching and thanks for the feedback
This is the best video I’ve seen on AT ‼️ Thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks so much! This video goes deep 😆 appreciate you watching and the positive feedback!
How did you get it to work that long without it crashing your DAW? I can’t use autotune for more than five minutes without it completely freezing my session. As soon as I looked it up, everybody’s having this issue apparently, but you didn’t. How?
I wish I knew! I’m pretty sure for the sake of this video I was only really running it on a single track. When I’ve got auto tune on a bunch of vocals like backgrounds and harmony stacks it definitely slows down the computer, but bumping up the buffer can help there!
Thank you man keep it up!
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
Bro, can you copy the pitch and timing of a vocal part as a preset and apply it to another vocal? So I don't have to do it all over again?
That’d be cool! But unfortunately I don’t think so. Closest thing I can think of would be to trigger pitch via midi and send it to all the vocals. Doesn’t help with timing but could work for pitch!
@ What exactly do you mean?
@ Let's say I made a midi of a vocal, how do I apply it to another vocal part?
I’ll have to make a video about it! Next time I’m at my desk I’ll walk thru it
Bro, so for what i see, theres no difference between 30 and 100 in humanize?
I didn’t see much change from 30-100 in this specific example, but could be different with a more complex note or something with more movement. I’ll have to experiment more!
How did you add the autotune into fl once you installed it??
I don’t use FL but you’ll want to check that it’s in the vst folder on your computer and might have to refresh the vsts within FL.
Hey can u tell me about the detune being at 440 and what does it do ?
Yup! So, 440 is the frequency for the note A that is used as a reference for tuning instruments like pianos, guitars, violins, and in this case vocals. By saying A=440 autotune knows where to place every other note. We can change that reference frequency up or down for slight tuning variations based on the rest of the song.
Generally you’ll want to leave that at 440 unless you know that the song you’re working on was tuned to a different frequency
Hi Micheal hope doing good bro..i have 1 confusion can i use more than 1 Auto tune plugin! I mean Autotune pro & Auto tune Artist for my 1 vocal track?
I’m not sure! If you’re able to load both at the same time then you should be able to. But if you have autotune pro you can add more than one instance to the same track.
@@MichaelWuerth Thank u bro

For a second I thought you had autotune on your voice as you were speaking
Ha! No. Just monotone I guess 😞
@@MichaelWuerth it’s when you extend your vowels, for some reasons it sounds as if you have autotune applied to your voice…
Thank you bro!
