It is not radical to care, though caring is one of the most important things you can do. We are social creatures with the worst incentive structures making the worst aspects of ourselves the easiest path. If you want to make a difference: look for the helpers, and do what you can to support what they do. Find a local group making tangible change (food not bombs is a good one to start with) and help how you can. The only way out is through, and the only way through is together.
What's concerning/upsetting to me is how quickly this country is beginning to reflect 1940s, Germany. And just how many people either don't seem to notice or don't care.
I'm terrified, tbh. My mom wasn't naturalized until I was almost 2 years old, and I'm terrified that that means I would be on the chopping block for deportation despite being born on US soil. Add in the fact that he also wants to bomb Mexico because of the cartels, I would literally get deported directly into the line of fire.
@bigmike6461 I'm entirely too aware. Like I said, my mom is currently a citizen. I know full well that she would be targeted. My worry is if her getting denaturalized would then lead to my brothers and I being at risk of deportation as well despite being born to a lifelong citizen father on US soil. Once they start denaturalizing citizens en masse, it's a super easy slippery slope to getting rid of the legal citizen children of immigrants. It's the anchor baby argument on a new, unprecedented scale.
also funny facty. those immagrines are why you have local food. cause we all as americans see low jobs like making food as too low for us and deport those people and there goes your food pretty fast
As allies who want to be helpful, I encourage everyone to look to existing human rights advocates who specialize in liberating undocumented Latine people. Im sure no harm was meant, but do not think of undocumented people as "powerless" . Their power here is to steer the movement while the rest of us lend our privilege as the muscle. Get tuned in to the Latine community but dont talk over experts or move without their say so.
What I find the most Hypocritical is that Trump, a self-titled Christian Man, is going against the words of Jesus in the Book of Matthew. Matthew Chapter 5: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew Chapter 24: "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time." Matthew Chapter 25 "When the Son of Man comes in his Glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep to his right and the goats to his left. Then the King will say to those on his right "Come, you who are blessed by my Father; Take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me water to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was imprisoned and you came to visit me." "The righteous would answer him 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or in needing of clothes and clothed you? When did we see you sick in imprisoned to visit you?' "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me too.'" "Then he will say to his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry but you gave me nothing to eat, Thirsty and provided no drink. I was a stranger and you cast me away, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me. I was sick and imprisoned yet you did not look after me.'" "They also will answer 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or in need of clothes, sick or imprisoned?'" "He replied 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'" I am no longer am Christian, but I at least know the book I was taught as a child.

I just want to say, your posts have been a bright spot in some very dark days. Thank you for that.
Than you Dev, excellent message. 😌
Beautiful. Thank you.

Legal and naturalized citizens are on the their list as well.
