I have the exact same rifle. My problem was the trigger was set at 5 lbs. I lowered it to just under 4 lbs. It was better but not great. It was spongy and gritty. I ordered a Timney trigger set at 2.5 lbs. It made a huge difference. I also put mine into a Bell & Carlson stock. Now I'm taking it hunting.
Nice! I have a Ruger American Predator 308 that I put into a Bell and Carlson stock. Very nice piece. I gotta jump on the bandwagon and get a Timney Trigger as well!
I have the same rifle. The trigger was horrendous. But before I dropped a 160 dollar timney in it, I put a 12 dollar spring kit in it and removed the blade safety.. went to a 2 lb trigger that I would stack up to most custom triggers. Dinging a 6" gong regularly at 600. It's a ridiculously good rifle.
I have watched your video over the past years, and I have found them very good. Ruger American has regained its reputation from your past video. Thanks!
I just got am email from our Ruger importer in Australia saying this and the standard stock Ruger Americans are back in stock. I am after a 308 and will likely just go the standard black stock vortex package as it seems to most reliable. Glad to hear your return was a relative simple process as it can be a hassle here in Australia as we are so far away from the rest of the world not to mention convincing a gun shop a gun does not shoot straight is always a hassle. You defiantly got a unique groove going on at the end 😉
I hate TH-cam morons that try to say "its you bro lol.". Just watch your past videos, you are NOT a bad marksman. That gun was jacked up. Trying to blame the can? Seriously? I'm glad you got it sorted. Nothing just punches you in the stomach than a bad investment, be it a car or rifle. Good to see you happy again.
Outstanding, WTW! It’s great when the plan comes together, even if it took an extra couple of steps. Ruger does a very good job with customer service, and they hit a home run for affordable accuracy with the American line.
Thank you for your honesty. I think you showed all the non believers that what you were saying was really the truth. Awesome guy I'm glad you were persistent and strong in believing in yourself. I'm glad it worked out for you . Keep doing what you are doing. More of us need to be just like you. I appreciate what you do and I will continue to watch and support you and your channel. Thank you and keep doing what you do.
Great follow up video! Would like to see it up against 7 Mag - the works - clay blocks and accuracy at distance, 1,000 yard test…etc. Howdy from Texas BTW.
This situation goes to prove the point that not all rifles are the same. You could get any brand, any model and shoot enough of them and you will find some shoot good, others not so much. Any one who doubts this hasn't done such testing. Buy as many as WTW has then you will find out.
For more ammo options Weatherby has started a new non-Weatherby cartridge line that's available right now direct from Weatherby online that covers the Nosler cartridges and the Hornady PRC cartridges loading Sirocco and Hammer Bullets under the Weatherby brand to give Nosler and PRC owners more options
Weatherby is only a name. If you only knew the Weatherby Story. He had prototypes made and sold the guns before going into production. It worked but basically, he was selling what was not available from the back seat of his car in the beginning. He did get enough people to order the guns to start manufacturing and people that wanting high performance speedy bullets went all in. They have always been subcontracted out to foreign manufacturers usually renowned rifle makers. But they are truly overrated. Faster is not always better. Newer cartridges designed for accuracy at long range are much better than the Weatherby design. Akley Improved have always been better. That is where all these new cartridges are based on shoulder design in the first place. Also making cartridges fatter to fit in short action rifles for other reasons.
My .308 loves the eld-x bullets. They group the best out of all the ammo i tried. I would like to add the 7prc and 35 Whelen to my collection. Nice content, and I'm glad you got a shooter!
So happy to see that your replacement Ruger GW 7 PRC is a shooter. What a relief 😅. I recently moved to Ohio and I am actually thinking 🤔 about selling my Savage M110 LR Hunter in 300 WSM to get a Henry in 360 BH or the AW model in 45-70. Then down the road get this or another Savage as a replacement for the 300 WSM and compliment for out west to my .270 Win.
I think that you should really think hard before selling a rifle to buy another. I have had many guns and done the same only to regret it. It would be best to buy your preferred gun for replacement before selling the other if it were a replacement. That way you would know whether it suited you or not. I have done gun trades or sales in the past I just wish I would just have kept what I had. It's not a bad idea getting rid of a gun you do not want because it is not up to your expectations. But selling only to replace at another date you could end up worse off.
@@garrytalley8009 that’s a pretty good point. I would hate to sell a decent shooting rifle for one like the previous Ruger GW 7PRC that Adam “Who Tee Who” got and be totally bummed out. I am not sure if I want to stay with a 300 WSM just in a different rifle since I have the reloading dies, etc for it or wipe the slate clean and go with a value based 7 PRC like this one or a Mossberg or Savage? I don’t have the money 💵 now for a lever gun that would be legal in Ohio, that’s why I was thinking about selling my current rifle (since I still own my long time 270 Win). But I probably won’t be hunting Ohio this season and just wait until next year when I can pay resident prices. Thanks for the advice
Congrats! I really want a 7 mm PRC. Could not find one. Went Weatherby 6.5 300 and touching all 3 130gr Scirocco at 100 yards. Next gun will be the Fierce 7 PRC. just gotta have it! Great video!
Expect to have to buy factory ammo for a while. It isn't readily available. I still am playing with a 6.5 PRC which had a lot of shortages in components and availability of ammo in the start. I may not have purchased that 6.5 PRC if I would have known they would make a 7mm. But I do have a 6.5 Creedmoor that shares some of the same components to reload for. The wind at 100 yards shooting fast bullets with adequate weight are not affected much at all. 7mm is perhaps my favorite bullet diameter. I have a 7mm STW and a 7mm/08. I have had a 7mm Rem Mag as well.
Nice video. Good to see customer service is good. The better name brands do a pretty good job on customer service. I don't know about their letter on the other rifle though. It did not seem to really explain the accuracy problem. I don't buy the explanation they gave you. But they saved face with your new replacement rifle. They were pretty bad implying that the accuracy was anywhere near acceptable. They don't want anyone thinking they are guaranteed to shoot groups as well as the ones you shoot on your videos. That is understandable they would have everyone returning them that couldn't shoot groups like that. I do enjoy your videos, even the dance also the old Lead Sled. Good shooting.
I was shooting a lot a couple years ago helping a friend learn to shoot to 1500 yards and learn to reload. I used a battery powered air mattress pump to cool my rifle between shooting. Just nipped the end off, put in reciever. Im still shooting the same stock Savage fcp m10 in 308 barrel. Of course longevity is great with 308 Win. I do run my loads hot though! My shooting partner did not use the, "redneck cooler". His barrel had a lot of fire cracking inside but to be fair it was a 300 Win Mag. I used the air mattress pump because I had it laying around. The battery power made it easy when power wasn't available. They do sell something similar made for this purpose.
If it won't shoot under 1", I would try handloads. There are just not enough factory boolots yet. I am NOT an ELD-X or M fan. Berger or Barnes are my preference. Berger to grenade, Barnes to punch through
@TexanUSMC8089 Hornady makes great stuff. I just don't like the ELD-X. It is an SST, but more frangible. Plus, they moved the Interlock ring forward, where it is less effective at preventing cup/core separation.
Honestly you have to be kidding. There is a shortage of reloading components for a 7mm PRC. It's hard enough getting components for a 6.5 PRC. Have fun trying to get good large rifle primers or even brass. I reload for many calibers and it's not easy getting the components you want to reload. Eld X bullets have a good reputation, and they are the easiest to find as well as the Hornady Match. Hornady factory ammo is a good way to go early in the game. Reloading for it is certainly a thing to do once you have the right components.
@garrytalley8009 If I were relagated to using ELD-X to hunt anything larger than deer with 7 PRC, I would leave the 7 PRC at home and use 7mm Rem Mag, or .300 WM. Why use a "only thing I can get" when there are other choices, in other chambers?
My Fierce Carbon Rogue in 7prc likes the Hornady Precision Hunter in the 175 ELDX, and groups better than .5moa. Like yours the Fierce didn't like the 180 gr Match as well as the ELDX, and I also tried the Hornady Outfitter 160gr CX which did about as well as the Match.
Well done mate, glad to see it worked out for you. Pretty handy groups in the wind too, although that boolot probably didn't spend a lot of time in it.😂
It’s grouping good . I bought a cz 204 some years ago . I tried three or four different ammo brands. It would not group. My friend loaded be some . I get same hole groups after that .

It will be interesting to see if the 7mm PRC catches on. It was introduced late 2022 by Hornady and so far they are the only ones who load ammo for it. The Match, Outfitter (CX bullet) and Precision Hunter (ELDX bullet 🤮) and no other ammo co. has so far moved on it. Browning now has their X Bolt in 7 Rem Mag with a 1 in 8” twist. Same as the PRC. So I would not be surprised if other rifle companies start put faster twists on newer rifles.
@@chriscirillo352 is that right? Haven’t seen any out here in western Canada but good to know. You are correct. I just looked on the Federal website and they are listing 2 loads 175gr ELDX but also in the outstanding 155gr Terminal Ascent.
That Federal Terminal Ascent load is the one I've been waiting for as well. I'm not a big fan of Hornady ammo and typically use Federal, so I've been holding out for more options before jumping on the 7PRC. I'm sure Winchester and Barnes will probably have some options for it as well before too long.
@@chriscirillo352 I’ve been hunting now for over 50yrs and in that time I’ve used all kinds of ammo. But I can say the Terminal Ascent is one the one that I use the most now in my 270 and 7 Rem
I think all the PRC calibers with do well. They are well thought out. The 7mm Mag as the 300 Win Mag have issues with the belted case as well as the length of the case as well as the shoulder of the case. Cases are weak at the belt and will not reload as many times as unbelted. The belts were never necessary in the first place. The cases being shorter and fatter as well as the improved shoulder angle make the powder burn more effectively. And of course, the twist rate makes it easy to load a high BC longer and or heavier bullet. All wins, win-win-win. The only downside is availability of components in the startup. But it will eventually rise to the occasion. I would purchase one of these 7mm PRC's, but I have more guns than a man needs already. I can't keep up with all that I have. Too many are just catching dust.
I see Ruger lists capacity as "3". Is that 3 in the mag or three including the chamber? I know Savage 110s in 7prc or the WSM calibers only hold 2+1. So what kind of "3" does this one hold?
Hello Adam, I see where you had videos on the Ruger American GoWild Camo in 7mm PRC and another video on the Mossberg Patriot also in the same 7mm PRC. Which one of the two handled "Recoil" better? Please advise. I also plan to purchase a Ruger Precision rifle in the 300 PRC, which because of its weight and design handles recoil from the 300 PRC very nicely. Thanks for your reply. Mauro Garcia
Even a 308 is a bit stiff for a 14-year-old. But if she's a shooter and has shot one and good with it. If not maybe a 6.5 Creedmoor would be better. I would not want to get someone started with too much recoil. They develop a flinch and may never get over it. Of course, muzzle brakes make a difference on recoil as well. Hope your daughter loves and enjoys hunting. We never can get enough outdoors people to support hunting. Too many people oppose hunting.
@@garrytalley8009 she’s been on my 308 target practicing since she was 11. She does well. May look into hand loading 130-150 grains and see if they have less recoil than the 165-180s I use.
Bahaha! Sadly, you dance WAY better than me! Crack me up. I've been holding off on picking up mine, but have to tomorrow. Putting an old Chinese 3-9 x 50 on it and may just get a sled while I'm at it. Thanks and happy for you that this one looks like a good one. But, do you think it was literally off the shelf or hand picked by Ruger?
Nice wtw I’m stuck between that rifle in 7mm prc or the 6.5 prc I reloaded so either or will be fine I do have 6.5 cm and grendel as well . Which one would you recommend?
WTW, pretty amazing when one finds out your bullseye is "only" 3/4 of an inch, because it looks much larger. Just wondering if you have done testing with carbon fiber wrapped barrels ?? You really need to consider getting into reloading.
look for a battery powered inflatable pump, hook a rubber hose to it and stick the hose in the chamber and "inflate" the barrel. the air flow will cool the barrel nicely. Now I have to see if they make one of these in left hand... I'm not sure....
so which one do you like better The Ruger American or the Mossberg Patriot? CVA just announced a 7mm PRC to the cascade XT line. Which one would you go for?

Thank you 😊
I see Ruger lists capacity as "3". Is that 3 in the mag or three including the chamber? I know Savage 110s in 7prc or the WSM calibers only hold 2+1. So what kind of "3" does this one hold?
3 in the mag
Very exciting! I can't wait to see some long range stuff with that, and definitely a clay block!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲

Don't know if I could differentiate recoil between the two. Probably about the same. Ruger comes with a brake. Mossberg does not
Now I'm wondering what happened to the first one that was so bad?
Good to see!! Leaning towards this in a 308 for my 14 year old daughter
Thanks for sharing another great review 👍
That’s good to see man, good deal.
Hard to say. I have no idea
Have you ever shot the RA in 300WM?? The rest seem to be accurate, so I would think it would be. Thanks
I have not. Those are actually pretty rare. They did not make many of them
Looks like you had some bad tooling on the first rifle. I have two Ruger Americans. Both shoot great. Sub moa. Best hunting rifle for the money.
Nice wtw I’m stuck between that rifle in 7mm prc or the 6.5 prc I reloaded so either or will be fine I do have 6.5 cm and grendel as well . Which one would you recommend?
Hmm. Tough pick. Put I'd pick 7mm prc
WTW, pretty amazing when one finds out your bullseye is "only" 3/4 of an inch, because it looks much larger. Just wondering if you have done testing with carbon fiber wrapped barrels ??
You really need to consider getting into reloading.
I measured each 7prc load to the ojive and the eldx was 3.555" the eldm was 3.513"by my ancient Sinclair comparator.
Thank you.
Is the rail on the Go wild 0 MOA or is it a 20 MOA rail? Thanks
Not sure
Im proud of you, you’re not using another AR scope mount…
Use what I have 🤷♂️
look for a battery powered inflatable pump, hook a rubber hose to it and stick the hose in the chamber and "inflate" the barrel. the air flow will cool the barrel nicely. Now I have to see if they make one of these in left hand... I'm not sure....
so which one do you like better The Ruger American or the Mossberg Patriot? CVA just announced a 7mm PRC to the cascade XT line. Which one would you go for?
I'd grab a CVA 1st
WTW, dancin a jiggg at the end 😂😂
😆😆😆
glad to see, since mine is in the mail. Hoping I don't get a lemon.
