@@AdamHedley82 are you making a joke? I honestly don’t do anything other than hit the play button. Are you sure you’re not starting a slow chess game against an actual opponent? Those can take days or weeks to play
Hikaru's probably one of the very few ppl able to match with magnus' level at chess, and magnus is the only one who can match to hikaru's calculations.
Magnus used to play worse against Hikaru until they played enough matches for him to understand his style. Now, Hikaru has to be playing perfect chess to beat him pretty much.
I adore how they respect each other and Magnus being so humble playing just a regular online game for him, even tho he could be so disrespectful towards anyone irl.
I thought they were talking to each other at fist, and then I thought, boy how rude they are, always interrupting each other... then I realized that they did not in fact lol
The first video i have ever heard Hikaru say "let me think think guys i need to focus" lol 5:03, just shows how strong magnus is compared to everyone else
Magnus’ chess style: Is this good content? Hikaru: hm, there there there takes takes queen there check check he blocks then i take check block take sac the rook take with check there thee there there tere pawn a3?
Not too sure of the entire explanation, but Hikaru lost his queen (9) and Magnus lost his rook (5), bishop (3) and pawn (1). So, even though Hikaru lost his queen, they lost the same amount in terms of piece value, as 1 + 3 + 5 = 9.
at 3:52, why didn't he just play Rxf4? Because Bxc5? After Bxc5 black plays B4 and white either plays (Bxd4 - bxc3) or (Bxb4 - Nb5). In all cases you lose 2 pawns, but i would say that for either of these last two lines you put pressure on the white king, right?

That move would result in black at minimum losing a knight for nothing or black exchanging their queen for a white rook. It looks like a fork, but it only pins the knight.
@@scottmc1855 How? The black knight isn't pinned to the queen bc the white knight. And there are no good discovered checks either. I think Maggie didn't fork the rooks bc one of the rooks could check his king and then save the other
@@scottmc1855 ok nvm I didn't see the pawn. however the black knight could take one of the rooks and when the knight checks the king he could move over to protect the queen so it's a queen for two rooks, which is equal at best
@@nickbrandt2915 - The only piece you can move with a knight check is your king or to take. In this case the only piece that can take the knight is the queen. I'm not sure how you are seeing a queen for two rooks. It's a queen for rook trade with an equal knight/bishop trade.

Also knowing how much time you need to finish an endgame helps. As you can liquidate even complex positions pretty quickly
A good trick is to learn to play quickly at the beginning so in endgame you have more thinking time than your opponent
in endgames you dont need time until you're under 1 minute or in complicated endgame
