Wiper issue: There's a small nut (that may be loose) holds the metal arm down - flip the metal cap up, where the arm attaches to the motor shaft (where your wrist was in video @ 2:03) and try to tighten. If it's not that, the splines on the motor shaft (what wiper arm slides over) might be stripped.

The wiper arm splines "should" strip out before the motor shaft splines. Probably just need a new arm assembly.

doubt the motor shaft is stripped or the passenger side would do the same thing (One motor for both wipers)
@@dirtdude96it’s not the motor shaft but the individual wiper arm shaft spline that might be either lose or striped but even if it is striped you can temporarily or some times permanently fix it by removing the bolt and arm and putting a pice of wire in between shaft splines and arm done it a few times on old trucks it works

Would definitely be a warmer option than just sleeping in the open van.

Your wipers should be a pretty easy fix, it's worth changing the spindle adapter "top hat" part number STC987 and the wiper arm part number PRC4276. If that doesn't fix the problem you will have to change the spindle behind the dash part number DKU500010.

I'm English and I know Land Rovers. It looks like your wiper is slipping on the spindle. The wiper arm is intentionally made from a softer metal than the splined spindle so that if the wiper arm gets stuck, in ice for example, the splines inside the arm strip to save the spindle.. You need a new wiper arm, but as a temporary fix, take off the wiper arm and slide a small meatal paperclip into it so that when you replace the arm it will make a friction fit against the spindle. If you don't have a paperclip, try a small piece of rolled up tinfoil.

Nut came loose on your wiper,happens when trying to use wiper when there's ice or alot of snow, reposition and tighten nut on wiper arm.

Windshield wiper motots have these splines on them that the receiver for the wipers goes onto. If it goes loose/the extra weight of snow can strip them round if they're drifting both ways. If it's just an offset wipe, it's probably just tilted or loose, but it could lead to it basically ruining the motors splines. I've only worked on this sparingly a few times, but every time, it needed a new wiper motor if the wipers get all floppy, like you explained. If you can see a photo of the part before you order, it should show whether or not it comes with that metal spliney gear part. Good luck!!

Hi I'm Rick from Michigan The wipers are each attached to a round base and either the end of the wiper needs replacement or the base that it's attached to. As a temporary fix cut some small pieces of reynold's wrap and place on the round base then place the base of wiper over it. That should stop the slippage that you're hearing when it gets stuck.
Good thing the drivers side wiper is messed up. We all know the passenger side is the one that really counts. Worn gear or loose nut in the wiper probably. Should only be about 2-300 bucks in a car like that. Have fun!

i don’t know how helpful this is but i buy this salve for my dog. it’s made and used by dog musher owners. my pup hates wearing shoes but he doesn’t mind the salve. it’s supposed to work on cold and hot surfaces. ❤

I love how you live in your landrover. My husband and I both have rangerovers and are huge fans. I am very happy to know that if we lost everything then we could live in our cars! Quite well too! I do just wonder about going to the loo and washing though.

the wiper arm is probably loose where it connects to the motor/ linkage. usually like a 1/2' or 13mm nut to tighten it so it stops at its proper limitation! :)

splines on shaft of wiper arm or the gearbox to the wiper arm are most likely the culprit for the drifting wiper blades

Pop the little cover on the wiper arm, where it attaches to the truck, and tighten the nut when it is in the correct position. You can fix THAT!

I have just purchased a Culla based off of your recommendation. I took a trip to Yosemite this winter, mid January, to get my snow fix, and unfortunately, I did not have the correct can of fuel for my Mr. Buddy heater, thx Big 5, sigh. I gave up trying to sleep at 3 a.m. in 27 degree weather. I was in a 4 season mountaineering tent, however, I still have lots to learn about setting up for winter tent camping. I went and sat and dozed in my warm van, until the sun came up. I watch channels like yours as I'm always looking for tips and advice. Thx!

Ria ,ref the wiper. At the bottom of the arm should be a plastic cover and underneath should be a 10mm nut. Set the drivers side wiper to same as passenger side , hold the wiper and then tighten the 10mm nut up. If it still messes about then it's a new wiper drive mechanism . If you have a defender maintenance manual it will show you in that . I'll try finding my defender manual ,if I still got it
