    I remember thinking Cirque du Soleil shows were dumb when I was younger. Went to Vegas and had to go watch Ka with my girlfriend. My mind was blown and I loved every minute of Ka.

    When you talk about Cirques' shows like Ka, I almost start to cry. That's my deepest joy and passion coming to the surface. I have only had the gift of seeing their productions twice in my life. Cirque moves my earth, and it takes me to the deepest place of imagination and joy of being alive. Cirque is a RARE thing. Some art forms, nature, and seeing the earth from space bring out the same deep joy fir me. I hope they have a come back and never leave. I want to see more of their shows.
    Thankyou for such a passionate and well produced video. I was truly engaged.

      I was there. I was 7 years old, though. Honestly, the only thing I remember is the one guy left on the wall, looking down and crying. Then I remember being ushered out. At the time, I didn’t really know what was happening. I only found out someone had died a few minutes ago. Until then I assumed that he had broken his leg or something. I don’t remember much from the show itself, due to it being so long ago. But from the clips I’ve seen of the new and revamped version, they upgraded their safety and the choreography. So that’s good

     I was there, I was a little girl though. I was probably 7 years old or so. I didn’t see her fall, but I remember one guy who was on the wall. He was looking down, and screaming. Even though he was being pulled up, and the lights had turned back on, and everyone was being ushered out, he was still screaming. I remember asking someone that was escorting everyone out what had happened. She said something along the lines of “the shows canceled.” I had always assumed that the guy had broken his leg, somehow. I asked my mom afterwards “ what happened? “ and she told me that nothing had happened, that was the end of the show. She told me a few minutes ago what really happened. She had seen her fall. Honestly, the only thing I really remember is the guy on the wall. This whole time I thought he was screaming, but he was crying. Really loud crying.

    The "Grand cirque de Chine" (no animals) was clearly an inspiration. CDS designed costumes, makeup and wrote storyline... and voila you got something different! Then they quickly founded a school to have a constant flow of young artists for their shows. They were brilliant.

    They are coming back stronger than ever, I went to joya in playa del carmen in December 2021 and I must say, they have not lost their shine at all. they are slowly starting to tour and to bring back their best acts. I for once I’m exited to see them again.

    I was lucky to go to a Cirque Du Soleil performance just before the pandemic hit and it was quite magical. I don't think the quality was poor before the pandemic hit, but they did have a lot of shows touring and as a result a lot of overhead which must have hurt a lot with global lockdowns. I just hope they have a strategy to re-open once the world reopens a bit more.

      They have. They don’t have as many shows open, but they redid Alegria, kept the permenant shows, and cut down on the traveling shows. It’s much harder to get casted now because of the cut down, but they kept the cream of the crop, which rightfully so. I miss Saltimbanco, but I’m so glad they kept Kooza, Kurios, and Bazaar. I’m dragging my mom across the state to go see Bazaar this month, actually. Very excited to see them again and support them.

    3:25 I thought you were gonna say Saltimbanco (1992 - 2012). That show to me changed the circus tent FOREVER. I mean so did the shows before like Nouvelle experience (1989 - 1993)

    • @SpaceWeaver
      @SpaceWeaver 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree with this. The three touring shows before Dralion (Saltimbanco, Alegria and Quidam) were more artistically beautiful with much better acts. Dralion wasn't that innovative as a production as it looked like a dressed up Chinese circus. But what Dralion gets credited for was exposing Cirque to the masses as they brought it to more major cities around the USA and the rest of the world where the previous touring shows only played very few select markets repeatedly. On the first leg of their tours, Saltimbanco, Alegria and Quidam only performed in 12-15 cities across the USA and Canada over a two year run. With Dralion, they brought the show to 32 major cities across the continent over a five year run giving the company massive exposure in the early 2000s.

    I have to make a few points here,
    For a start, cirque du soleil has and has never had animals, proudly boasting at one point it was animal free for 30 plus years,
    Secondly, many cirque performers make 300k plus a year for their performances, Depending upon wether it is residential ie fixed location or a touring big top, my honest belief less than 3 minutes in is that this guy applied to cirque du soleil and was rejected or he is burnt by the experience of the show

      He paid for his college, but at the most expensive animation college in CR (Veritas). He said in other videos that he's a graphic designer, but honestly I’m not sure if he has a degree on that.

Referring to Cirque still being on the downside and not as good as it was is your opinion mate. You’ve not even mentioned shows, reviews, numbers, success outside your own bubble. Crystal just performed in Australia with shows completely sold out and Luzia which isn’t until December 2024 have almost all their shows sold out a full year before it opens.
