How about the Hoover vacuum company in the uk, with the cataclysmic marketing fail of a free flights to New York promotion when you brought a new vacuum. A total fail that cost the company millions and several court cases lasting decades. Loving the channel keep up the great work.
This is EXACTLY the story I was looking for! The whole thing was hilarious... unless you were Hoover! People were literally buying Hoovers to get their free flights, then selling the Hoovers below market value. They'd get free cash and a free flight; Hoover tanked bc 1) they couldn't meet the supply of Hoovers, and 2) anyone who genuinely want a Hoover could get one brand new in box for less than the usual retail price! 🤣🤣

To be honest, Domino's logo is quite minimalist and therefore easily blend with other tattoos to look cools. In addition, living in a region where pizza is not traditionally delicious (like Russia and my country), domino pizza is probably the best pizza by local standard. I might take the deal if it is offered in my country.
That backlash from the Budlight ad was damn right stupid! Are people lacking comprehension skills now? Is that what they produce in schools today? How can they not understand context? Yeesshhh!!!
The tattoo thing reminded me about when my company changed our logo, and offered to pay anyone who ALREADY had the old logo tattooed on their body to have it covered or augmented with the new logo. I heard they had 13 takers.
I was indifferent about U2, and just hadn't heard much of their catalog to form an opinion yet, but when that album showed up without me asking for it -Never have I wanted something removed my phone SO BAD !! ...totally lost any interest in hearing anything from U2 from that point on.

And several US airlines over the years offered lifetime unlimited flights passes, which a vew (admittedly at least moderately rich) people have majorly abused (can also find more elsewhere on TH-cam).
A Guardian article from 2002: Acclaim Entertainment said yesterday that it would pay relatives of the recently bereaved in return for placing small billboards on headstones, and that the offer might "particularly interest poorer families".
It's technically not a "fail" since i don't believe it impacted product sales, but in contract law there's a famous case where a guy sued pepsi for a harrier jet (no typo). The campaign ad they ran showed a kid hopping out of one at the end along with a quoted "pepsi points" amount of like 7 million. Dude did the math and realized that equated to only 600k (they let you buy the points through mail order as well). After getting investors together he tried to redeem the points for the jet and sued when they refused. Long story short, he lost but the court opinion describing why the ad was clearly a joke is pretty hilarious to read.
I'm surprised that none of the urban guerrilla marketing campaigns got mentioned here. There was one for the PSP that involved stenciled graffiti tags in major US cities and one for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie that caused a bomb scare...
OMG I still have U2 songs of innocence in my music library! I always wondered why my iPhone would play U2 songs! I also have the same reaction, I went from not caring about U2 to hating them. I am now going to delete that album. I don’t use the music library for music, which is why it is still there.

I believe that the new-old-Coke, has (the cheaper) HFCS instead of sugar.......could this have been a smart ploy to replace sugar without anyone complaining? Even with the failure of New-Coke, they have managed to increase their profits using cheaper ingredients.
