I'm sorry to hear George has had such a hard time, it's so nice of someone to help him reach his property. I hope it all works out for him to get the access he needs.
Glad to hear that George is ok and his neighbors are looking out for him. Lord knows he can be a pain in the butt, but he's had a rough road and this is what aloha is all about 💓
Wow! That would be so awesome if it's to help George. Hopefully they'll be able to smoothie out some more. Much luck to George and Mahalo for sharing. You & Scott are both such awesome, kind-hearted guys! 💜🌎✌️😸
Looks like a Good Samaritan may be at work. Maybe this is just the first part of an act of kindness. I hope so for George's sake. Sounds like he could use it. Mahalo to you for passing on this interesting development in your neighborhood Charles.
Great job to them!! Hopefully they can get him a lot better access to his land soon!! Thank you for doing this for us!! God bless you and your family!!
That's really cool if they're really trying to help him and not trying to loot. I can't believe that the government has not try to make access to these homes that are not destroyed I mean come on. All they need to do is make a flat surface it doesn't have to be perfect. Looks like the guava makes a pretty good road surface
Aloha Mindy and Charles, I’m in complete agreement with both of you. This eruption happen in 2018, between Governor David Ige , Hawai’i County mayors, state government workers along with related unions, more could of and should of have been done by now. Charles, I’m just disappointed that George had to lose his leg first before they got off their lazy duffers to do something positive and meaningful. I wonder how many other residents in that area could benefit from this wonderful gesture. I know that you could Charles and maybe Mindy also. Perhaps a “Go Fund Me” account or page could be started for all of the local residents in this area who simply just need a leg up and help get their lives back on track again. From here on Oahu, I , I’m afraid that all I can do is offer words of comfort and maybe a slight ray of hope. I will go pray to Buddha and hope that he hears not just my voice but all of your voices also and offer his sincere kindness. Deepest love and respect, Todd WH6DW 73’s and 88’s
I have only just found your channel and have subscribed. I live in Cornwall UK and admire the people of Hawaii for live and respect they have for each other. I wish George the very best and hope his back in his home befote too long.
Andy Laskey I also just found his channel and subscribed. You live in Cornwall UK. I had a paternal Aunt Mae who married a man whose last name is Blatchford and was from Cornwall. Actually was pointed out by a grand daughter of his who was able to recognize the home he lived in and shown on the series show of Doc Blatchford. One of their sons became to be known as Doc Blatchford. Interesting. MY husband liked the show.
I’m in shock that the officials haven’t came and cleared the road for people to move back to their house! We’re spending time sending people to the moon but they can’t come clear one freaking road so people can get to their house? WTF
@@truthbetold1855 I’m aware of that. What I meant was that the world is so technologically advanced that we’re sending people to the moon yet people can’t help these poor people plow a road. I wasn’t speaking directly at any branch of a government lol. When lava covered that highway they cleared that off real fast. Everybody else I guess is just left to fend for themselves.
@@barbarafrey9154 The issue is that the rock bed is pretty thick, plowing a road leaves side walls of highly crumbly lava rock which is a hazard. Therefore they have to clear the path much wider and then safely fence in the side walls. That's the first issue, the second issue is this happened in poor neighborhood known for off grid living style. If it was in an influential neighborhood it'd done by now, basically the government doesn't agree with off grid living to begin with. Oh and the 3rd issue is even if you clear it, the volcano can still erupt and flood the area with lava all over again.

I visited your island about 20 years ago. It is so beautiful and interesting. I rented a car and drove all over into various villages probably more than most tourists do. It is fascinating how the lava changes the landscape.
Nice to hear about someone helping out the disabled. Not sure if I understood that it was your property they crossed to do the work, but if so I'd suggest erecting a no trespassing sign with your phone #.
I hope George can soon gain access. Tough times for him. Definitely not disabled access friendly but maybe the route will be by the next time you are here.
Well done Charles, for showing this - it might encourage others to help as well. That's what we human beans SHOULD be about ... helping each other through tough times, right? Any idea who might be littering in the area - I saw some garbage on the other road there.
I have no idea why TH-cam would think I wanted or needed to watch this, but it was a good “oooh what’s done this?” All the way up until we find what did do it and my imagination deflated like an old balloon! 😉 Oh and of course I hope it all works out for George!
Aloha! Did you ever figure out what type of equipment they made this road with? Our driveway got covered by the same flow. Looking for the cheapest way to put in a driveway that a person can get a car up and down

I hope you asked George what the story is. It looks like it would be passable for a 4wd pickup with tough tires. I hope it's enough that he's not homeless.

I say bravo, also. I lived on Alapai before the 2018 eruption. Aloha should rule there.
✋🤠BRAVO As you said 🙂🙏
was that Kilauea smoking off in the distance past your lot??

Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a lava lot? It's nice to see neighbors helping neighbors.
A lava lot is a private piece of property that was either covered, surrounded, or had access cut off by lava from the 2018 Kilauea eruption.
God bless George.
It is going to take a lot more work to make that usable for anybody not walking. Maybe a wheel chair with tracks would work, I have seen them.
Are you required to pay taxes on your lot, and would the state allow you to rebuild?
Why was that one long strip of land before George's red in color?
Another neighbor, put down red cinder to make a path from one of his lots to the other across the road.
Wonder how well this stuff is as fertilizer 🧐
Upsetting to say the least. If they can do this, where will they go next?
